I need weed for survival, and it works because it is a good thing even if you were born before WWII. The *snicker* was because while I can move well enough to have thrown the chain on my chainsaw today by cutting too long without checking...

...I can do it only because no alcohol, no sugar! and no caffeine (tea or coffee or soda and no DeCaf <-- they lie). A man's gotta know his limitations.

Forest fires are a big issue here and on a couple occasions have seen the fire burning across the highway. We were evacuated once and have been on alert a few times. It is very scary, with your life and possessions on the line. To top it off we have water shortages and it costs the province hundreds of millions of dollars.

Being an agricultural/horticultural area many crops and qualities are effected by the smoke. Costing the orchardist, vineyards and market garden growers $$$$

The gov't does not like to talk about the health risks associated with the smoke & particles.

pain is no fun

wow I cannot believe we have been in Washington for over 4 months now!

and this lower elevation with less changes in high and low pressure systems have definitely made a positive impact on my headaches

I have not had ONE migraine since I’ve been here which is just short of a miracle for me…just one headache and it didn’t last very long

so yeah , we will be heading back to the High Plains or High Pains , in about a week to wrap up some business before we move out here permanently

we love the prairie
we hate the big cities
but this decision is based on choices for better health and a few other factors

wish us old folks some luck , uprooting our lives in the 70’s is getting way out of our comfort zone

but closer to the ocean

I'm very happy for you big and I've said it before to you, that it's good to see you having fun and recharging your life at your age. If your health has improved then it's an even better choice.

I have a fondness for the environment you will be moving to. I hope one of these days to take my Mrs to Bamfield in the Barklay Sound anytime I'm in that area I feel the change from the interior of the province to the rugged coastal area. I feel alive and the power of the ocean, while walking the beach shoreline, it's an incredible experience for me.

Bamfield; the only time in my life I had pizza delivered by boat!

Good morning folks, I hope all are doing well. I finally climbed out of bed today and can breathe fairly well but my body feels like I’ve been on a rack for a week being stretched and torn up… this was the worst case of the flu I’ve ever had. My buddy was about five seconds away from loading me up and taking to the hospital. When your throat is so stressed and swollen from coughing for days and your head is so congested you can’t breathe through your nose things get scary real quick… I must’ve lost a quart of water in my body from all the snot I’ve been blowing out of my nose. It’s hard to believe Ivan has become such a good and affectionate dog, luckily Dutch taught him all the ropes and now I’m waiting for Ivan to teach the next pup the ropes… he lays at the foot of the bed when I’m ill and tries to anticipate every move I make… I think I’ll keep him…

Take care of yourself brother.

They're very nice but there's a few things - she destroyed all the common garden areas and planted Iris there 2) she cuts them down when they bloom, so using all the common garden area for table flowers for one resident out of 100+

Iris do tend to spread and if they are taking up a common area, well, if your suppose to have an area for yourself, then I guess you better lay claim to it. Is there no one who oversees the grounds?

I have iris's in my yard and my issue with them is they always want to fall over when in bloom. I really like their flowers but they annoy me with their falling over. Do you have iris's that do that or am I doing something wrong with the iris plants?

I have 1 iris that comes up every year in a different spot, stranger than shit and it's in a swampy environment

When we were looking for a new place Mrs K had 1 stipulation, no more than a 3hr drive from the beach.

She grew up on the Jersey shore, a Jersey beach girl.


We could never live in the middle of the country a 1000 miles or more from a beach.

I could not image being away from a body of water, that's why I like the next city over so much, it has a lake at either end of the city. I looked up on the net one day to find out...not many cities have a lake at both ends of the city.
Ocean beaches are even better but I can't always have everything I want.
