It must be sad when the flock starts dying off and one by one you lose your old friends. It would be for me anyway.

I know this is an old post but it’s relevant in this situation. I am experiencing what big is with his chickens in my world with my friends. Last year f or my 70th birthday party My buddy had a huge party for me…I sat there and I got 30 names out of my phone but the problem was I had 20 friends that were dead, but their numbers are still on my phone along with Linda’s… getting old brings a lot of problems to the forefront that nobody ever prepares for when they’re young

I try to be pro-active rather than re-active. I hate having to make a split second decision.

I am jealous. A stand mixer is my next ‘toy’ purchase. My wife was going to get me one for Christmas but I told her not to get one yet because I am a glutton for punishment(kneading by hand is harder than I thought it would be but needed-pun intended)…

Commercial baking is something else and requires a lot of muscle power thank science for mechanical progress.
If they would quit using poison for ingredients it would be perfection in motion.

I believe it is held close in most communities. I live in a farming and hunting community and most people have multiple freezers in their garage is just for that purpose… there’s big money in pigs also. My best friend has a trapping license for the county and he’s always got pens full of hogs for barbecue are more than likely a pit roast…we ate the pig that was in my pen just two weeks ago

Have a farmer buddy that has just about all the livestock. Got my rabbits from him... Chickens from a buddy that breeds em, too. Have goats coming this spring, and if I play it right hopefully some cattle by next year.

I harvested my limit this season and have given away my limit of one deer haha.
