that and Bois d’arc , which is some very hard wood

i made a wood float out of bodark and i swear it was as hard as my magnesium float

Bois d’arc wood is rated 2620 on the Jonka Hardness Scale…which puts Bois d’arc at number 9…

We made fence posts out of Bodark, because they are highly rot resistant.

Black Locust and Cedar for fence posts up here in the North East.

The Amish like to use Eastern Hemlock for Building structures for its resistance to rot and insects.

I use a block of Lignum Vitae for my bearing block while doing a bow drill because not only is it extremely hard, but it also is loaded with oils that help reduce friction.

I used desert ironwood on a few knives for handle scales and that stuff is tough!
Ipe is hard but not that hard.

I've got three Ironwoods in my Fiddleback Forge collection. It's a classic.

You just fitting handles or you working the steel as well?
