almost bought the farm on RT1 just north of Smyrna yesterday afternoon, on the way to Amtrak.

my spouse riding shotgun, child, spouse and grandchild in back set of our new Mazda 3 ... in the right lane doing 70 with all the other nice folks around me ... and up ahead the semi sitting on the shoulder decided to merge into traffic ... not waiting for a gap in the flow, no, just gonna merge, NOW ... so both me and the car in front slammed on the brakes. nobody too close behind.

only by the grace of god.

and then the semi pulled back onto the shoulder. as if nothing had happened. it's nice when i can impress my spouse by doing what is needed. impresses me, too.
