I think drinking has been around way longer than sail boats, which are mostly about sailing, though there was some serious partying on some of the boats in the marinas once the sun went down.

I believe it was the new model 107. I don’t pay much attention to that particular caliber because it’s just not something I would use. I was prone laying on a shooting mat when I was driven back a few inches. I had an additional recoil pad between the butt of the rifle and my shoulder and it’s still hurt. I have no need for guns of that caliber. After I get some chores done today, I am going to site in my banshee which has got zero recoil and plenty enough stopping power for me.

I've never fired a Model 107 semi-automatic but can see that it has a smaller muzzle brake. Possibly for improved accuracy.

What I liked the 50 BMG for was targets out to 1000 yards and beyond. I shot 300WM out to 800 yards.

We were hustling through the showers pretty quick at MCRD too, without grab a-ss or hanky panky.

I don't know about in the stockade at MCRD where the bad boys hung out.

Oh! And Cracker Jacks had metal prizes in them. I remember getting a two-tone pan pipe whistle and a turkey caller. I also remember my shock when they switched to plastic. Lost all the magic for me.

Cigarettes: When my mother sent me to the store to get a pack of Chesterfields, she would give me a quarter. The guy would hand the 6-year old kid a pack, and there would be two pennies inside the clear plastic cover. They were for me. Often, I got steel 1943's. Didn't care for them since they didn't look "real" to me. <-- Jeez, I wuz a stacker in 1946!!
