As I was in the shower this morning, I realized that shooting that 50 caliber Barrett yesterday along with the 30-06 is probably a little bit more than I should’ve done. The Barrett cost five dollars around to fire and I don’t think I’ll ever want to do it again… I’m sure I slid back 4 inches when I pulled the trigger
Were you shooting from the prone position? Sliding back 4 inches can give oneself a hell of a nut wedgie:oops:

Never had the chance to shoot a 50 BMG yet.

Can’t remember thinking anything like that in the shower…

I had a Barrett 90 bolt action bull pup, SN-00043 that weighed about 22 lbs and had a 65% muzzle brake. Without the muzzle break, the 110 lbs of free recoil would dislocate your shoulder.

A 12 gauge produces or 30-06 sporter produces about 25lb of free recoil, so the 65% muzzle brake takes the 50BMG in the B-90 down to around ~29lbs, but with the weight it is more of a heavy irresistible shove than the sharp center punch that you get from a 7mm Mag in a sporter rifle.

With the B-90, I just held on really tight and rode with it. I also loaded my own so that I could afford to shoot it.

Dad had to rent his dream at Dinner Key Marina. Our job as kids was to spot channel markers in Biscayne Bay. Dad got to crack open another beer for every marker we spotted.

Check this out, @bigsur51, when late February is outside.

I like to shoot my M6 Aircrew SR on occasion and will throw a .410 slug or buck shot down the barrel. Talk about a sharp center punch.

4lbs of extra free recoil doesn't sound like alot, but I'm sure it feels like alot.
