The Official Hempy Bucket Thread

Can someone give me some advice on potential re-potting from Hempy later in INTO SOIL?

(The reason I am asking is that I am usually flowering upstairs on the Sunroof and there it can sometimes get *very* windy, I don't think I can put Hempy buckets up there, wind could literally rip out the plants from the pots).

* Would I simply pull out my plants from the Perlite/Vermic., shake off the remaining perlite, re-pot into soil, let the plant recover for a week or so and then put outside/upstairs?

* Would I continue the GH Trio nutes that I use now for Hempy but THEN according to the soil schedule? (As opposed to switching to entirely different nutes, because in the past I grew organically in soil with organic nutes ("PlantMagic Oldtimer"), so I assume it's a big nono to repot into soil and then feed them PlantMagic when I fed them GH Trio in the Hempies?

Got a trader joes near you? Hit them up for some of the flower buckets.. they just get rid of em.. variety of sizes btw. 1.5 and 3.5 gallons.

Or try to find cheaper buckets.

yeah those dflower buckets are good. I've noticed them at all the florest's.

Not sure what mix you used.. but if you put some sort of covering so your media doesn't blow off you might be good.. as long as roots are established. I'd be more worried about ur mix blowing out of the buckets.

shake and brush it off a bit and pop it in the soil

Feed as you would soil.. use soil rates.

Keep with the GH. Not an easy transition into organic at this point.

I'd stick with the buckets.

Not much to look at right now. A little sparse looking but I transplanted into the buckets tonight and gave them a little FIM action then put them under a 600. Ive got some Grindhouse' SFV and Diablo OG crosses going along with one Prophet and a single bagseed Deathstar. They are about two weeks in from seed right now. Gonna let them fill out for a couple weeks before flowering. A couple of runts in there but I didnt have the heart to kill them. One of them came up with two stalks.

looking very nice and healthy as always my friend, ...i'd leave you some rep with a personal comment but the system won't allow it, lol.

anyway, it's good seeing you still out here on the interweb helping folks out, it seems so long ago when we met back on CanDotCom, ...do i remember right that StinkyAttic lost her battle with cancer a couple few years ago? ...i hope i'm wrong, she helped so many.

peace, bozo

There's plastic sheeting under the plastic grate. I don't have much runoff. The vermiculite catches and holds most of it. :tiphat:

It's my understanding that you *want* some runoff to make sure that the fluid in the reservoir is aways flushed out and replaced?

If you only water "a little", isn't there a danger that the nutes at the bottom/reservoir become stale ----> root rot?

I always thought 25% or so runoff is essential with hempies.

As for my own grow (no pics), I started two in small hempies a while ago, NL and Somango which I first started off in soil (before I decided I want to go Hydro).

Those are doing GREAT...they look much better than anything I've ever seen with my organic soil grows. Lush green, and now they seem to be getting close to the bottom (or reached it already)....FAST grow.

Some weeks later then I started more seedlings, this time "proper" in rockwool and I also transplanted them now in Hempies (actually some type of air buckets that I put into trays, with the reservoir outside the pots). I am using the classic 3:1 perlite/vermiculite mix.

Those seedlings are still tiny but also doing great otherwise. So right now I have 9 in the green house in Hempies and 4 (in soil) upstairs for flowering :)

My only concern is that I THINK I really have to transplant them later-on into soil when it's time to put them upstairs (on the roof), it will be so hot and windy, I don't think I can have Hempies out there. They would probably dry out way too fast and the occasional wind might blow the perlite/vermi away..or rip out the plants altogether. On the other hand I dont think I should have a problem to put them into soil later on. I will see.

(The other option is to put some stones etc. on top of the mix for putting them outside. This is interesting, I might look into this too. My main concern is still the crazy heat here in Spain and that I might end up needing to water constantly when they're on the roof in the sun, and when I say "constantly" I mean literally every couple of hours or so...)
