The Official Hempy Bucket Thread

@hydro- good to know man. Now i guess ive just got to decide what mother i want first. Probably pop one of each of the seeds i have, pick one to be my little momma, and flower out the other two eventually. Hopefully they're all girls!! I've been lucky this far, started 20 seeds, had a few not pop, had 2 hermies along the way (bag seed), and am now left with 16 females!! maybe ill be lucky again

@dubwise- i will have room after this harvest, thats why im gonna want to run a momma. And i would like to do it just as a learning experience so that i can learn hands on how to handle a momma as well as how to take a cut and root it. I just wish i could get a jump on the momma so that i would be able to have rooted clones ready to go once i harvest

@SOG- great response man! (as always). Next week sometime i think i'll pop another couple seeds and go for a mother. Ive got a cubboard i can throw em in and throw a cfl or two up there...let em get started doin there thing! Oh, and i love that picture of the lil boy, makes me chuckle everytime

@jellyfish- thanks a lot man!! Great thread!!

Who has the utmost respect for Hempy here? I wanna know what people really think of the inventor of the Hempy bucket himself.

I myself think he's a fookin genius for inventing such a grow method to share for the 1000's and 1000's of people.

What are your thoughts good people?

E.L. Patient11 HAS ENTERED THE BUILDING

Say my friend, have you ever heard of doing a perpetual grow without keeping mothers? In my many, many years of growing experience, it's one of the best things I've discovered. However, you will need a veg room and a flower room. Flower room must be bigger than veg.
Just some extra food for thought mate.

...i started out on a real tight budget so i tend to DIY stuff and i'm too arrogant to ask for help so i just wing it...

To everyone looking to learn about this grow method, please do NOT feel any shame asking for help. When I first started growing (around 20 years ago) I was ALWAYS asking for help!!!!!

Without this help I would not have the knowledge which I possess today. Just remember fellow hempy bucket growers, EVERYBODY NEEDS HELP NOW AND AGAIN! Just ask and you will receive it.

You can pop what you like and then take cuttings the first 2 weeks of flower when they show sex. Won't hurt them and you'll have cuttings ready for the next run before harvest. :D

Stay Safe! :tiphat:

What's the smallest hempy bucket possible?
The 'hempy' technology is very simple and scalable and has been around for thousands of years, long before the invention of the plastic bucket.

So once you really understand the simple elegance of the whole idea you realize that ANY container can become a hempy, if the bottom doesn't leak that is, lol.

atm i have several rooting in 9oz solo cup hempys as an experiment to see if they root faster, ...they don't so those 9oz cups will become as punctured as all my other cups, lol.

...and Lowman is right, if you go too small you pass a point where you defeat the technology.

My best advice is to find containers that fit your situation and begin your own personal trial and error period, ...then you'll find the smallest hempys that work for YOU.

Peace, SOG

Anybody else here use this method for seedlings or small clones in 1-inch rockwool cubes? Get two sizes of solo plastic cups, drill five or six holes in the bottom of the bigger solo cup. Fill it with pearlite/vermiculite hempy mixture (or any hydro mdeium, I guess), drop in seedling, and cover with more hempy mix.

You put the big cup into the little cup- Now you're using the bottom cup as a reservoir. Put marbles/rocks in the small cup to prevent tippage.

Works great as an intermediate step, so you don't have this tiny seedling or clone in a great big bucket. Uses less nutrients too. Anybody?

*****edit**** I just realized I may have read about this on thiis very thread, so if I did, I apologize, please don't blast me. ;)

OK. Now that we've all mellowed out from tryptophan overdose, let's try this again.

Post nice or see posts forcibly removed...

Okay, if we're starting over, let me repeat my last post, since it's a new page. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

im very curious to hear the answer to this, could be an interesting way to get just a bit more root space in my tiny little box next time

You can make hempys out of a single Solo cup. Just make a hole about an inch from the bottom, just like a regular Hempy bucket.

i use the 1in rw cubes as starters for both clones and seeds. tho im not a hempy user but this seems to be a great thing to use from the sprout-1ft stage! im definatly gonna give this a try

Didnt see that anyone else have had this. So theres some green stuff on perlite. Some sort of fungus? I think thats area where i have tried moisture. So far I havent noticed any effect on grow. Im using LED, GHE Flora, temp around 19-27, day 29.

Whew, read the whole thing, AGAIN
I need the easiest system for a complete NOOB. This seems like it.
My biggest obstacle I see is environmental. I'm on the southern Med and humidity is just oppressive. Mold, rootrot, would be distinct possibilities.
Here there is no online shopping but have seen Flora Nova at garden shop but is prob quite old, is there a shelf life? I do have roots organic, would this work. Planning 100% perlite.
I plan on a sog from seed in 4 liter containers, I would start seeds in jiffy plugs first, then in the 4L, and I guess it's a nobrainer to wait until roots reach bottom before 12/12.
I do have eagle 20 for pm but have read that is a lower humidity problem.
PH, I don't have a clue how to use it, read it, adjust it. I do know that my water leaves flakes when I boil for coffee, so quite high mineral content. However, I can get distilled at Carrefore (french Walmart) and mix the 2.
This would be in 2X2X4 cab under 250 HPS. S&P fan with c filter and vaportronic so my airflow should be ok.
Sorry to be such a rambling dumbass, I would appreciate any comments and feedback!

It's algae. It's not mould or fungus. Any effect on your plants will be very small.
