Questions for CC and the rest? I love using aloe, coconut, fulpower (30ml), etc but been adding a little soluble kelp to that before I knew kelp meal was a better choice. Unfortunately I have a huge bag of that soluble kelp that I drench and foliar with. When I foliar I cut that in half.

1) Should I scratch the soluble kelp?
2) Should I reduce SST to only 1x per week
3) Bad to mix all those together like the schedule shows?
4) I know coconut is recommended as a drench but is there actual harm going to be done as a foliar or just wasting?
5) Any other adjustments please tell me.

My scheduled is below.

All this in a 5 gal jug of RO water

Drench:
7 days a week
5 gal RO water
150 ml ful-power
25 ml silica
150 ml Liquid kelp concentrate (made from soluble kelp powder)
1.25 TSP Aloe Powder
1.25 TSP Coconut water Powder

Nute Foliar:
2 days a week
Same solution as above cut with 50% water. I use a spray bottle and fill halfway with solution other half RO water.

IPM foliar:
1 day a week and sometimes 2
Same solution as above but add an oil like neem or peppermint at 5ml per gal

SST (Seed Sprout Tea):
1-3x depending on time. These are important so I shoot for at least 2x per week.

BioAg TM-7 I will use Twice a month at 1/4 tsp per gal rate or more depending how much water I use to cut. I use same drench recipe but I leave out the ful-power.

ACT
1 x a month

I don't bubble comfrey or too many herbs anymore. I just topdress that stuff or make a salad of herbs sometimes when I feel it's needed.

RO water is not neccesary for plants. It produces 4 gallons of waste water for each gallon of filtered water. Try rain barrels...

Made up a kilo batch of the SST v2 with wheat instead of barely.

I miss timed it and only ended up needing half when it was fresh.

Should one be refrigerating any left over, or trying to dehydrate it?

Anyone who has soaked grains for mushroom cultivation will be right at home with this method, :thank you: CC.

Besides the RO water. Do we have any issues or flaws?? Seems this has been working for me but if I'm going overboard or see any holes please let me know.

I went to my local Sprouts market today and of course they seem to have every other Bob's Red Mill odd flour besides the Malted Barely. I'll need to order I guess, time is limited for local retail hunting.

Smoking Males?

Smoking Males?

hi am wondering if any one does smoke their males? I am smoking wet male flowers N-H right now, and i feel pretty stoned, not harsh tastes good, not like the flavor of blue cheese or grape ape, more like a mellow incense i haven't smoked before

I am not sure what you mean about issues? I am trying out a home made "bloom fert" right now, made of 4 cups (washed) kelp, mixed with macerated misc. sprouts and macerated yarrow tops.

they looked like this:

the coastal yarrow from horizon

washed again, drained, and waiting until tomorrow morning

Not trying to get complicated about my questions. I use males for pollen or compost. Smoke females. I'm sure I'll get my answers tonight.

thanks

There are only 2 actual liquid kelp products on the market - KELPAK & KelpGrow and products like Maxicrop are simply water and the powdered seaweed extract which is made using Potassium Hydroxide and/or Sodium Hydroxide - the same chemical compounds you'll see on the label on a bottle of Draino - good stuff indeed!

Here's an easy way to make a true 'soluble kelp concentrate:

1/4 cup of kelp meal
1/2 cup of clean water

Soak until the kelp meal is completely and totally hydrated. Pour off any excess water and do something else with it.

Take this kelp and use a food processor, Osterizer or any powerful mixer and puree the kelp and try and get it as consistent as possible.

Now you have true kelp extract and not seaweed extract. When you need kelp for a tea, mix about 1 tsp. to quart of water and dilute completely. Now you have a kelp meal tea without traces of Draino to trip you up.

On your question.....

1. Answered

2. 1x per week will give you the results you're wanting

3. I like doing aloe vera & coconut water with Ful-Power 1x per week.

4. I can't imagine much benefit using coconut water as a foliar spray. The action you want to see from the specific enzymes take place in the soil and not on the leaves & branches. It's like applying Humic acid on your leaves - why? To what end?

I stopped at Bob's Red Mill and bought a 20 oz. pack of the Malted Barley Flour and it is diastatic malt as it's known in the baking world which is the same exact product that I purchased sold through the high-end brew store but unknown at the local one. So the link you provided last evening is exactly what I and others tested.

I ordered some of the Red Mill malt barley flour to try out.

CC what is your thoughts on using their coconut flour instead of coconut water. I find the water can be damn expensive from the organic stores around me.

Cool ideas about the kelp CC...

I have an 'upward migrating' worm bin, and sometimes Ill mix 1/3 kelp meal/rock dust, 2/3 coco coir and use this as my main feed stock.

The resulting castings are extremely high quality, and smell faintly of the ocean...

I recently learned that some varieties of Kelp manufacture Dimethyltryptamine...

Just another reason to enjoy seaweed salad.

I was wondering if you use these products for your cannabis garden, and if so what #'s and at what rates, if you dont mind sharing...?

I checked there website when i got home and they have SOOO many concentrate powders
-Yarrow
-Chamomile
-Stinging nettle
-Oak bark
-Dandelion
-Valerian
-Horestail

Do you have a Costco warehouse store nearby? They carry two coconut water products, Vita Coca which is 'okay' and Coco Libre which is top shelf - certified organic (USDA) and it's cheap.

The Costco price on Coco Libre is $11.99 for 4 x 1 liter bottles. If you don't have Costco check their Store Locator and see if there's anything that makes sense.

You could also look for Vita Coco which is not organic but it's decent.

When looking at products of any type, including food, the term 'natural' has absolutely no meaning whatsoever. That designation can be put on anything and still be in compliance with labeling laws.

Fresh young coconuts which are the white ones vs. the brown coconuts are always found at Mexican, Caribbean, Central American, Vietnamese Thai food markets. These markets also carry coconut water so it comes down to reading the label and in this case you really want to avoid preservatives, even the so-called safe ones.

I'd seek out the Coco Libre product first and see if you're successful finding it.

Two items on your list: Oak bark & Valerian

Is that specifically 'White Oak Bark' and is it 'Valerian Root Powder' by any chance?

CC

CC,
Im not sure on either of those i have yet to contact the company and ask questions, its on my to do list....

Heres a link to what they offer if you wish to check there selection or contact them for yourself..... http://www.jpibiodynamics.org/catalog/14

P.S. Does it have to be white oak bark to be effective for use?
And same with the valerian is only the root the effective portion for use?

My bad - I didn't read the link to the source carefully. They are purists so you'll be getting the correct concoction. And yes to your question, it will always be White Oak if it's legitimate. Steiner believed and taught that these 7 materials contain powers that can & will increase the soil's tilth.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you're looking for a 'fertilizer' then I'm afraid that you will be very disappointed. Steiner's biodynamic processes are all about soil building over several years. The process is pretty exact - even down to which direction you should stir the water & powders. Seriously.

It's pretty esoteric so reading a few article would probably be informative & helpful. The governing body for biodynamic certification around the world is Demeter which is based in Germany where it started.

Each country that has certified biodynamic farming will have a branch. In America that would be Demeter-USA which is based in Oregon. Most states will have a statewide organization and so on.

Start with the link to Demeter-USA and see what you think. There's a bit more involved that one might think if you're beginning to scratch the surface.
