Being told also Coras from Huajicori and mountain areas. But Tepic is homeland of wild Zetas narco gangs too!. So dont ever feel safe there when travellling to some areas. Many problems, everybody knows how wild and savage things turned to be lately. New farmers grow more dwarfs now, hard to find sativas, maybe old ppl, old school ppl and farmers and so.
Another line kept in Sinaloa, being testing here few numbers for potential, like Sinaloa says :tiphat: there are pink haired and even purples around kept by older ppl for decades.

Oaxacan 79 was into Mextiza hybrid with Nepal Jam as male partner, so a 50% Oaxaca. A short limited release but sold out already, apologize. Wish in near future I can bring it back, think was worth this test done and most enjoyed its direct, clean and kinda euphoric up and high with not histeria but positive effects for daytime smoke. Very quick too. Pics from some friend grow, bit sensitive to indoor enviorement, they performed great outdoors in our climates

I was gifted some pure Sativa seed from Luzon in the Philippines. They appear to be very similar to some of the Mexican landraces. I tried growing it indoors last winter to no avail. I'm saving the last seeds to grow in Cali for breeding. I don't plan on loosing this line. Has a lemon lime mango fragrance. Maybe I can take a trip next season without getting kidnapped or shot!

Beatifull... I think that the Phillippines' (n other SouthEast Asiatic strains, n mixed with the African strains importes from Seville or Canary Islands) that the Spanish inported to Acapulco from Manila, are "the diferentes touch" of several Hispanic América landraces, comparing it with the Brazilians ones (similar tho the African strains that Spanish imported from Spain to América), or British West Indians ones (with more blood from India)...

what a beautiful thread and strains.

so what exactly is the history behind most mexican strains? i know each unique but around what time period did cannabis arrive in mexico and from where? india? :dance013:

my guess is africa.. but you are right some do have very similar traits to the s.indians... i bet ultimately its a little bit of everything

just do not know the origin of the Mexican pot
I imagine in several parts conosidas the front lines in the mountains of Sinaloa Thais were kind of high growth and thin leaves.
greetings,

Spain has a large history with Canna, Colón had Clothes of Canna, and the sails of ships and the strings were of hemp

The first strains (with African blood) were imported by Hernan Cortes to México from Seville n Canary Islands.
Later, the South East Asían genes camed to México from Philippines (Spanish too durin these times)...

Hemp seeds brought by Spain to the New World were meant mainly for fibre production, not smoking.

Namaste :plant grow: :canabis:

But in these time the strains used by Spanish to madre rope were psicoactive African sativas. Are several text from the Church to the Emperador, tellin him how the poor people in Spanish América are "drunked" with the weed than was being growed to the ships of the Spanish Armada...
Psicoactive cannabis is knowed n growed in Spain since the Omeyya Emirate of Córdoba (al-Andalus).

Nice plant Chomba.
I am growing out a cross that Kaiki made with the Oaxacan and Punto Rojo and it's coming out great. The plants are at 10 weeks now and are really showing their beauty.
I would love to grow out the pure Oaxacan some day, she is a real beauty and I hear she has the great high. Good luck with her.

Yeah. He call it Red Snake; I have seen nice pics n have readed amazing reports from Red Snake in Spain...

Actually the opposite is true.
Caribbean and South American strains were introduced via the slave trade by the Indians people from "India" that were servants to the english and dutch slave traders and importers

The "slaves' legend" again...
Again: Spanish, n later the Portugueses, where the first cannabis seeds' imported to América (Jamaica too). Hernan Cortes done the first cannabis seeds importation to América from Seville & Canary Islands, during the first half of 16° century. Pedro Cuadrado did the first great scale grow in América with these seeds.
Indians only "imported" their seeds centuries later, n only into the "Brittish Caribbean".

It is also documented that Cortez traded "medicinal cannabis seeds" with the Indigenous people around Colombia and Venezuela. The area is still a hot spot for excellent strains and possibly the parental stock of some of Mexico's lines.

Hi.
Hernan Cortes never trade cannabis seeds with any Amerindians. He never were in Colombia or Venezuela or South América.
Salud!

When the Spanish troops conquered the area and settled, the agriculture of the area had a boost, and cannabis continued to flourish. In 1821 Mexico became independent from Spain, and since then Oaxaca has been on of the poorest and most underdeveloped states of the country, with a poor road network and limited links to the capital city. The area has several mountain ranges, and a main central valley, with an average altitude on the sea level of 1500 meters. The population lacks education, basic infrastructures and proper sanitation. Nevertheless the quality of life is slowly improving over the last 10-20 years. The main resource is agriculture, with a large production of coffee beans. Tourism is increasing, but remains marginal in the generation of income. Cannabis represents the most effective survival crop for the poorest people in the region.

Cannabis is present on the Oaxaca mountains since a very long time. Nobody knows exactly when it arrived, and from where. Some speculate that the first seeds were brought by the Spanish fleet in the 15th and 16th centuries, while others predate the appearance of cannabis to the first migrations of men from Asia into the American continent, around 20000-15000 years ago. What is sure is that by the time the Spanish conquered the area imposing their civilization, cannabis was being used by the local indigenous tribes for medicinal as well as religious purposes,

Sure? All historical, antropologic n scientific evidencies said that America havent cannabis till Hernan Cortes. Amerindians knowed tobacco, but not cannabis (n inverse: Spanish knowed cannabis, but not tobacco).
20000 years ago the humans were so far away from the Neolitic Revolution: humans still didint kwow to grow any plant...

It would be interesting to find old stands of feral cannabis in the Canary Islands (if they exist) and see if they are more closely related to west African strains or European hemp. I suppose either is possible. If the Spanish found cannabis in west Africa it wouldn't be that much of a leap of faith to think they might take it back to the Canaries to see if it would grow well there.

Hello Satva
My Oaxacan is a very quick to flower for a sativa. I got my strain in 1979 from bag weed simply called Mexican sisemilla. At that time we also were getting Acapulco gold, Guererro gold, Columbian red and gold, Vietnamese gold, Thai & Budda stick, Real Panama red, Jamaicans

Hi.
What is the diferent between "Guerrero Gold" n "Acapulco Gold"?
Thanks by any info. Salud.

Guerrero Gold also known as acapulco gold and Guerrero Brown also known as acapulco red
