yeah i totally agree, listen to this woman hating bigot rap about/to his own daughter:

You know you're my cookie baby and you're too smart
I can see it in the lines of your school art
True heart
I mean courage
Expressed with care
Go on draw them superheroes with the curly hair
You're my daughter
My love
More than kin to me
This for you and the woman that you finna be
Tell that boy he's wrong
Girls are strong
Next time at show and tell play him our song
Tell your teacher I said princesses are evil
How they got all they money was they killed people
If somebody hits you
Hit 'em back
Then negotiate a peace contract
Life if a challenge and you gotta team up
If you play house pretend that the man clean up
You too busy with the other things you gotta do
If you start something, now
Remember, follow through
Later on you gon' blossom like a lotus
You'll get into boys and the boys gon' notice
It don't matter who you do it with
Just remember when I tell you baby you the shit
Handshakes are promises
Lies can spoil it
Words should be bond and seal
Wash you hands after using the toilet
Brush after every meal
And also

*Chorus*
Wear clean draws
Everyday
'cuz things may fall
The wrong way
You'll be lying there
Waiting' for the ambulance
And your underwear
Got holes and shit

Wear clean draws
Everyday
'cuz things may fall
The wrong way
You'll be lying there
Waiting' for the ambulance
And your underwear
Got holes and shit

Pam can I get a little scratch right here?
(yeeah)
Pam can I get a little scratch right here?
(oh yeah)
Pam can I get a little scratch right here?
(yeeah)
Pam can I get a little scratch right there?
(oh yeah)

My boogie baby now
The world ain't no fairy tale
And it's ran by some rich white scary males
To make it simple for you let's call 'em the bosses
They take money while the people take losses
Stole Black folds from Africa
To work for free
And we still barely get paid enough to eat
That's what I told you
I be saying in my vocals
That's why the woman got the gun on the logo
The star is the future
That we gon' create
Where nobody steal money from the things we make
The revolution takes time and space
But you as a woman gotta know you're place
That's in the front baby
I'm being blunt baby
If the get mad say it's they time of the month baby
Your face is just like the sun when it raises
Thank you for adding beauty to my phrases
Handshakes are promises
Lies can spoil it
Words should be bond and seal
Wash your hands after using the toilet
Brush after every meal
And also

*Chorus*
Wear clean draws
Everyday
'cuz things may fall
The wrong way
You'll be lying there
Waiting' for the ambulance
And your underwear
Got holes and shit

Wear clean draws
Everyday
'cuz things may fall
The wrong way
You'll be lying there
Waiting' for the ambulance
And your underwear
Got holes and shit

Pam can I get a little scratch right here?
(yeeah)
Pam can I get a little scratch right here?
(oh yeah)
Pam can I get a little scratch right here?
(yeeah)
Pam can I get a little scratch right there?
(oh yeah)

Clap yo hands
Clap yo hands
Clap yo hands
Clap yo hands
Clap yo hands
Clap yo hands

To those of you who think of all rappers as being ignorant

To those of you who think of all rappers as being ignorant

Immortal Technique- Harlem Streets...seriously read these lyrics

Yeah.... Harlem streets stay flooded in white powder
Like those mother fuckers runnin' away from the twin towers
Gun shots rock the earth like a meteor shower
Bowling For Columbine, fair, giving the media power
Innocence devoured like a chicken spot snack box
Government cocain cooked into ghetto crack rock
Corrupt cops false testimony at your arraignment
Check to check, constant struggle to make the payments
Working your whole life wondering where the day went
The subway stays pakced like a multi-cultural slave ship
It's rush hour, 2:30 to 8, non stoppin'
And people coming home after corporate share croppin
And fuck flossin, mothers are trying to feed children
But gentrification is kicking them out of their building
A generation of babies born without health care
Families homeless, thrown the fuck off of the welfare

[Hook]
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?

[Verse 2]
It's like Cambodia the killing fields uptown
We live in distress and hang the flag upside down
The sound of conservative politicians on television
People in the hood are blind so they tell us to listen
They vote for us to go to war instantly
But none of their kids serving the infantry
The odds are stacked against us like a casino
Think about it, most of the army is black and latino
And if you can't acknowledge the reality of my words
You just another stupid mother fucker out on the curb
Trying to escape from the ghetto with your ignorant ways
But you can't read history at an illiterate stage
And you can't raise a family on minimum wage
Why the fuck you think most of us are locked in a cage
I give niggaz the truth, cause they pride is indigent
You better off rich and guilty than poor and innocent
But I'm sick of feeling impotent watching the world burn
In the era of apocalypse waiting my turn
I'm a Harlem nigga that's concerned with the future
And if your in my way it'd be an honor to shoot ya
Up root ya with the evil that grows in my people
Making them deceitful, cannibalistic and lethal
But I see through the mentality implanted in us
And I educate my fam about who we should trust

[Hook]
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?

A rapper discussing institutionalized inequality? Yea, all rap must be about rape and murder.

Gone are the days of MC Hammer and his fun and funky rap.......

oh yeah! like above the woman being RAPED must've loved it huh?
like robbing, killing, niggaz, & all that love above???????

yeah, every time there's some love story on TV it's
ALWAYS backed by a soundtrack of rap music, I forgot dude.

rap was created from a love of money and nothing more.

Did you read the part where he realized it was his mother they had raped and killed. And then he realizes that he's wrong for holding his mom's drug use against her, which is what made him wanna go bang out?

You're ignorant if you think that rap was created for money. The pioneers didn't get shit! They paved the way and gave the genre legitimacy so the rappers today COULD make millions. They mainstreamed it. Sampled Curtis Mayfield, chillin in the summertime in NYC kickin it at the BBQ's and getting the croud hyped. Having a good time. That's what it started off as. Then it got real and people started talking about thier struggles growing up in poverty. What you know bout' ANY of that? Rap music defines a generation, just like whatever you listen to. You don't hear me knocking the shit you listen to, because it is music. It comes from a real place and it affects people FOR BETTER OR WORSE. If the music can change your mood or make you even make you do WRONG, I would say the message is powerful!

So I guess my question would be: If you don't like rap, why the FUCK would you come into the illest rap thread ever? To only piss off people that enjoy the music? Leave, hoe.

Back to the music...

"I seen some cold nights and bloody days.
They grabbed me and bullets sprayed.
They used me wrong so I sing this song to this day.
My body is cold steel for real.
I was made to kill.
That's why the keep me concealed.
Under car seats, they sneak me in clubs.
Been in the hands of mad thugs.
they feed me when they load me with mad slugs.
Seventeen precisely. One in my head.
They call me Desert Eagle, semi-auto with lead.
I'm seven inches, four pounds.
Been through, so many towns.
Ohio to Little Rock to Canarsie, livin' harsly.
Beat up and battered, they pull me out I watch as niggaz scattered.
Making me kill but what I feel ain't never mattered...
When I'm empty I'm quite.
Finding myself fiendin' to be fired.
A broken safety niggaz place me on shelves, under beds.
So I BEG for my next owner ta be a THOUROUGHBRED,
keepin' me filled with hollow-heads...

How ya like me now?
I go BLAOH.
It's that shit that moves crowds.
Makin' every ghetto foul.
I mighta took ya first child, krippled ya stlye,
I gave you power!
I made you buck-wild."

P.S. MC Hammer is whack. Always was, always WILL be. That was not rap, it was pop music. Try Run-DMC, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, so many. But it's a waste of time trying to teach the blind to see. Peace, hoe.

Heres a verse from a popular song and one the best emcees/rappers/musicians ever to grace the face of the earth..

[Andre 3000 with chorus in back saying "I choose you babe!"]

So, I typed a text to a girl I used to see
Sayin that I chose this cutie pie with whom I wanna be
And I apologize if this message gets you down
Then I CC'd every girl that I'd see see round town and
I hate to see y'all frown but I'd rather see her smiling
Wetness all around me, true, but I'm no island
Peninsula maybe, makes no sense I know, crazy
Give up all this pussy cat thats in my lap no lookin back
Spaceships dont come equipped with rearview mirrors
They dip as quick as they can
The atmosphere is now ripped
Im so like a Pip, Im glad its night
So the light from the sun would not burn me on my bum
When I shoot the moon high, jump the broom
Like a premie out the womb
My partner yellin "Too soon! Dont do it! Reconsider!
Read some litera - ture on the subject
You sure? Fuck it
You know we got your back like chiroprac - tic
If that bitch do you dirty
we'll wipe her ass out as in detergent
Now hurry hurry, go on to the altar
I know you aint a pimp but pimp remember what I taught ya
Keep your heart 3 stacks, keep your heart
Aye, keep your heart 3 stacks, keep your heart
Man, these girls is smart, 3 stacks, these girls is smart
Play your part
Play your part"

Thats Andre 3 stacks verse from the song "international players anthem" And that just one extremely popular example of hip hop/rap music that isnt violent or masogonistic in the least.

Dont let the fox news version of rap music clear your thoughts on a whole genere of music, we all know how the herb is demonized, rap music is akin to the same treatment..

That's UGK!!!! UGK is WILD! I love that new double album! LOL. The rest of that album is gully though....

"First it was "free Pimp C"! Now it's "Pimp C, R.I.P".
Most defeniatly he written in history
as one of the sickest, most TRILL MC's."

Just downloaded that Harlem Streets track. Decent beat. Now I gotta look into Immortal Technique. SEE!? This is good shit. Gives everyone a chance to broaden thier selection.

Here is a link to SoulSeek. It a free P2P download program for music software etc. Now you can download shit you see and like here... Trust me I just did its cool...

Edit: Pimp C wasn't trife. Typo... thanks Ganico.
I was thinking about the UGK line. "Niggas be looking shife, so I look shife back."

I noticed in every thread where someone doesn't agree with you that you resort to calling them names. That is the first sign of an imbecile, a mental midget of sorts.

I had an opinion and stated it yet you decided to get personal as though you might know me or the streets I grew up on. If you thought you'd post a thread and find only rap fans posting in it then you're as smart as a box of rocks.

But go ahead and call me some more names, it hurts me deeply but makes you seem so cool, so down with it all, and so ghetto that I'm willing to suffer the abuse for your own glory.

to me the argument against rap seems an awful like the one against jazz and the music of the 60s. just trying to find something to blame society's problems on. if people are so impressionable that listening to music can make them into criminals, then the violence in the bible and on television will have just as much of a negative influence on them.

If I have to wade through (listen to) 1000 raps just to find the handful that aren't full of violence and the word N I G G E R than I feel that music sucks. that's all just an opinion. when someone like the thread starter resorts to name calling, which on the street would earn him a beat down then I know I'm correct about the 'rap' mentality. in his first reply to me he is on the attack, what gives? I didn't go after him at all.

BTW, I turn off EVERY black comedian that uses the word n i g g e r in his act.
If you can't entertain me w/o using a word that is despicable then you aren't smart enough to be allowed in my home.

N I G G E R was a word used lynch mobs and was the very last word thousands of innocent black americans heard as they were either hung or burned alive. That word has a place in history, NOT in popular music or comedy....... not w/o a certain amount of reverence or respect attached to it.

i thought all rap was about beating women...

oh wait its not...

read these lyrics by the group dead prez. its called mind sex. its a song about getting to know his women instead of just wanting to have sex with her.

(and i suggest stoner4life learns the differerence between 'nigga' and 'nigger' and hopefully he'll stop hijacking this thread with his personal opinions...start your own thread if you want to do rant)

Its time for some mind sex, we aint got to take our clothes off yet
We can burn the incense, and just chat
Relax, I got the good vibrations
Before we make love lets have a good conversation

[verse 1]
Pardon me love but you seem like my type
What you doin tonight? you should stop by the site
We could, roll some weed play some records and talk
I got a fly spot downtown brooklyn, new york
Now I know you think I wanna fuck, no doubt
But tonight well try a different route, how bout we start
With a salad, a fresh bed of lettuce with croutons
Later we can play a game of chess on the futon
See I aint got to get in your blouse
Its your eye contact, that be getting me aroused
When you show me your mind, it make me wanna show you mines
Reflecting my light, when it shines, just takin our time
Before the nights through, we could get physical too
I aint tryin to say I dont wanna fuck, cause I do
But for me boo, makin love is just as much mental
I like to know what Im gettin into

[chorus]
We could have mind sex, we aint got to take our clothes off yet
We can burn the incense, and just chat
Relax, I got the good vibrations
Before we make love lets have a good conversation

Its time for some mind sex, we aint got to take our clothes off yet
We can burn the incense, and just chat
Relax, I got the good vibrations
Before we make love lets have a good conversation
Time for some mind sex...

(singing): before we make love

Yeah, what you know about mind sex?

(singing): before we make love

[verse 2]
African princess, tell me yo interests
Wait, let me guess boo, you probably like poetry
Heres a little something I jotted down in case I spotted you around
So let me take this opportunity
Would you share a moment with me, over herbal tea?
Take a walk verbally, make a bond certaintly
Cuz in my hand I bet your hand fit perfectly
And its like we floatin out in space when you flirtin wit me
Cmon, a little foreplay dont hurt (hmmm)
Imagine my chest under this shirt, your ass under your skirt
Its like walking the hot sands and finding an oasis
Opposites attract thats the basis
Our sex is the wind that seperates the yin from the yang
The balance that means complete change, our aim
Is to touch you in a delicate spot
And once we get it started I aint trying to stop

[chorus]
But first we have mind sex, we aint got to take our clothes off yet
We can burn the incense, and just chat
Relax, I got the good vibrations
Before we make love lets have a good conversation

Its time for some mind sex, we aint got to take our clothes off yet
We can burn the incense, and just chat
Relax, I got the good vibrations
Before we make love lets have a good conversation
Mind sex...

[spoken]
She smiles, I smile
She walks, no she glides softly by me changing night into day
She opens her mouth to speak, and so sounds ring in my head
She speaks, and I want to dance to her rhythm
She moves ever so gently, increasing my desires,
As I place my arms around her waist,
Hold and squeeze unto me,
I want to melt into her body, and discover the base of her warmth
Her beautiful black body that, no human mind could ever conceive
Shes love
Shes truth
Shes real, as real as the stars that shine in the heavens
As real as the sun that bathes her body,
As real as the moon that glows and the birds that sing and the rose
That blossoms in spring for she is that rose
And not just any rose,
But a black rose,
Black rose stands tall and stronger than any other plant
A black rose, that stands as creator, of nations of
Black rose
That never loses her petals, and blossoms all year round
Black rose,
Sweet rose,
Thornless rose
Eternal rose
Please look my way,
Please look my way
Please look my way
Black rose

just when all rappers talked about was beating women... heres tupacs tribute to his own mother... a women.

"Dear Mama"

You are appreciated

[Verse One: 2Pac]

When I was young me and my mama had beef
Seventeen years old kicked out on the streets
Though back at the time, I never thought I'd see her face
Ain't a woman alive that could take my mama's place
Suspended from school; and scared to go home, I was a fool
with the big boys, breakin all the rules
I shed tears with my baby sister
Over the years we was poorer than the other little kids
And even though we had different daddy's, the same drama
When things went wrong we'd blame mama
I reminice on the stress I caused, it was hell
Huggin on my mama from a jail cell
And who'd think in elementary?
Heeey! I see the penitentiary, one day
And runnin from the police, that's right
Mama catch me, put a whoopin to my backside
And even as a crack fiend, mama
You always was a black queen, mama
I finally understand
for a woman it ain't easy tryin to raise a man
You always was committed
A poor single mother on welfare, tell me how ya did it
There's no way I can pay you back
But the plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated

[Chorus: Reggie Green & "Sweet Franklin" w/ 2Pac]

Lady...
Don't cha know we love ya? Sweet lady
Dear mama
Place no one above ya, sweet lady
You are appreciated
Don't cha know we love ya?

[second and third chorus, "And dear mama" instead of "Dear mama"]

[Verse Two: 2Pac]

Now ain't nobody tell us it was fair
No love from my daddy cause the coward wasn't there
He passed away and I didn't cry, cause my anger
wouldn't let me feel for a stranger
They say I'm wrong and I'm heartless, but all along
I was lookin for a father he was gone
I hung around with the Thugs, and even though they sold drugs
They showed a young brother love
I moved out and started really hangin
I needed money of my own so I started slangin
I ain't guilty cause, even though I sell rocks
It feels good puttin money in your mailbox
I love payin rent when the rent's due
I hope ya got the diamond necklace that I sent to you
Cause when I was low you was there for me
And never left me alone because you cared for me
And I could see you comin home after work late
You're in the kitchen tryin to fix us a hot plate
Ya just workin with the scraps you was given
And mama made miracles every Thanksgivin
But now the road got rough, you're alone
You're tryin to raise two bad kids on your own
And there's no way I can pay you back
But my plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated

[Chorus]

[Verse Three: 2Pac]

Pour out some liquor and I reminsce, cause through the drama
I can always depend on my mama
And when it seems that I'm hopeless
You say the words that can get me back in focus
When I was sick as a little kid
To keep me happy there's no limit to the things you did
And all my childhood memories
Are full of all the sweet things you did for me
And even though I act craaazy
I gotta thank the Lord that you made me
There are no words that can express how I feel
You never kept a secret, always stayed real
And I appreciate, how you raised me
And all the extra love that you gave me
I wish I could take the pain away
If you can make it through the night there's a brighter day
Everything will be alright if ya hold on
It's a struggle everyday, gotta roll on
And there's no way I can pay you back
But my plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated

[Chorus]

Sweet lady
And dear mama

Dear mama

I hear what your saying about alot of rap music being filled with violence and pointless disrespect of women, but thats because your first reference to rap music is the stuff that you see on television which is the most bastardized form of the music possible.

It would be similar to someone who never had any experience with herb before watching "reefer madness" and thus concluding thats how marijauna works. I understand that rap music might not be your first choice to listen to, but its not all that the media cracks it up to be.

On your second point, some time when comedians/rappers use the word "nigger/nigga" it can be gratitious, but to put it in perspective sometimes there is no other word in the english language that can convey the sentiment that the word "nigga" carries, when used in it's correct context from black person to black person. I do agree with you that the word shouldnt be used so freely around white people, as it causes confusion and without a senseable black person around to clarify the use for the word it often gives people reasons to become uncomfortable, and therefore ignore the larger issue at hand which would be relations between the differing groups in america.

I hope that makes a tad bit of sense, I hear where your coming from Stoner4life, but things have to be put in perspective before passing judgement on them.

When I hear rappers talk about violent and killing I tend to understand where they are coming from. Most rappers just sing about where they grew up, what they've been exposed to, and what they know. Violence is a part of that. Most of these guys grew up in the streets and saw people getting shot at, killed, and were exposed to gangs, drugs, and guns from childhood. what do you expect them to rap about? i'd like to know.

my favorite bone thugs n harmony song... and some of my favorite lyrics by them.. read them and it shouldn't take you long to figure out why.

"No Surrender"

[Bizzy]
My nigga just entered your business,
so can I get a witness?
Can you duck? Fuck the po-po, pow
Startin' to kick this, gonna get my shit, and then you fucked up
Me buck. Me bang. Niggas ain't talkin' 'bout them thangs.
Thugs remain, hang, swang with a click tight claim.
come again, now.
They drop down,
when I'm off the block,
Fuck them cops.
Me and Krayzie
runnin' through the Boneyard, daily.
Gotta give 'em up to the glock-glock,
so I can serve me thugs and maintain.
to the brain, and thugs remain to slang thangs
Long live the dope game, and it won't end ya,
as long as my niggas remember: no pretender
Get right up off the Clair, nigga, Fuck it. No surrender.

[Chorus x2]
No Surrender

[Layzie]
Not wantin' the copper to hit me a lick up,
found me a victim to stick up, pick up,
rollin' the nine-ball,slippin'
that's why me trippin'
bloody victim,
get him when the time calls, dog
Take two-eleven, bailin', thuggin', knowin' these niggas well,
then Bone's fuckin' with the hoes,
here comes them po-pos.
Nigga, that pig done peeped me, me gots to flees and get my creep on,
Bone get gone, hit a wrong turn, mash the gas, and dash on.
Jump outta the hottie, move me body,
hittin' them cuts and trails, runnin' like we lunatics,
gotta make it back to Hazel daily
Escape and eludin' the chase.
buckin' me gauge, so nigga, remember:
me killa, me no surrender.
Me killa, me killa, me killa . . .

[Chorus x2]

[Wish]
Puttin' me on my knees, tellin' me move and I'm dead,
'cause I'm killin' all your bitches, turnin' them blue suits red.
And then I'm comin' to that funeral to shoot that bitch up,
because I know that's where y'all bitches is bound to meet up.
Cop killas, all up in they chest, and
I know what to do with that vest, man
Twenty-two shots. I killa.
You don't wanna fuck with Bone, nigga.
And it really ain't shit to pull a trigger on a copper,
'cause if I go down, some of y'all goin' down,
'cause I'm goin' down poppin, so motherfuck all coppers,
Let me catch you slippin', nigga, bet I pop ya.

Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop
Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop

[Krayzie]
Ya better believe it's judgement day.
So, nigga, just throw your pumps up in the air.
Now kill 'em, kill 'em copper, like ya just don't care.
When they come, they come creepin'
Me peepin'
Gotta watch them po-pos sleepin'
put 'em in deep in gutters. Me keepin'
'til a me rich and gotta get mine, everytime
This'll be over in nine nine.
so, nigga, get down for the crime,
gonna be more coppers dyin' in the line
fuckin' with thugs
when I be slangin' my drugs,
tryin' to cuff me and my nigga boy, gotta rip them guts,
and lay your head in blood.
Better check yourself next time you test and try to smoke a nigga.
Bitch, remember: me killa. Me no surrender.
Me no surrender. Nigga, me no surrender.
Me no surrender. Don't make me put one in ya.
Me no surrender. Don't make me put one in ya.
Me no surrender.
