the Hand Watering coco thread

I looked on the Flairform bottle again, and I can use that brand of nutrients in coco. I am still wondering on how to go about using the Roots Organic Coco Fiber Hydroponic Soiless Media though. Feeding, every/every other time, strength? Ph? Thanks guy's!!

I'm using Roots Organic coco coir and I feed-feed-water starting 7 days after I planted the clones because the bag instructions say to start then. It's my first grow with coco so I'm just saying what's been working for me with C99's last month. I'm finding the Roots very airy and fluffy so when I water/fert everyday the water sits on top leaving a good 2" til it sinks in maybe 3-4 minutes later and then I have to re-push the coco closer to the roots where the watering made the coco flood away; there's so much perlite in it! I've just LST'ed down last week because I noticed the stalks were weak and the leaves were very whispy-ish and now they have strengthened, (they're in 3-liter pots). My plan, after I harvest is to re-veg by double potting the stalk & adding brick coco to the roots at the bottom pot. But the way I do the ferts now is to alternate the ferts with chemical jack classics, molasses & epsom, seakelp, or vermaplex black castings using tap water as they respond well to each feed, no nute burns or other issues. I have em sunning for around 6 hours a day then under LEDS vegging lights til bedtime. Hope this is useful to ya. Rastafari.

Hi young pirates (old pirates was little bit sensitive last time) :) In veg i had a PH 5.8 - 6.0, should i have little bit higher PH under bloom 6.0 - 6.2? For better uptake of potassium etc was my thinking.

Hello everyone!

first of all id like to thank for that awesome thread, im nearly through it and learned alot!

this is my 4th grow with coco and once again im having problems wich i cant get rid of...

im using this setup:

homebox xl
400 watts
canna coco nutritent line (canna a+b, rhizotonic, cannazym, canna flush and canna pk 13/14)
canna coco professional coir
mixing my water 50 / 50 ro, tap water (thats usuall a ec of 0,35 - 0,4 and ph 7)
18 hours of veg so far
grown from seed, black dominas fem. by silver sulfid method (done by a friend of mine)
0,25 pots in the beginning, now all in 3,5l pots
temps are 26-27C° daytime, about 20-22C° during nights, humidity is 30-40% during day - 50-60 during nights. i know this is too low for vegetation and im going to get a humidifier for the next run.

i water them every 2 days with ec 1,0 and ph 5,8... a mixture of 50/50 ro / tap water - about 10 ml a+b, 10-15 ml of rhizotonic - im using advanced hydroponics ph down. always with atleast 20% runoff... sounds good to me that way, in theory :D

leaves are curling and look very light green some even have brown spots, they just dont seem as healthy as they should be imo. the genetic seems to be damaged aswell, i had that strange leaf pattern every grow so far. i have no clue what is wrong so maybe you guys can help me out.

this is my sheme i used for watering so far:

16.03 seed1 1 ec 0,3 ph 5,8 5
22.03 seed2 0,65 ec ph 5,8
24.03 s1 ec 0,65 ph 5,8
27.03 s1 ec 0,75 ph 5,85 new pots 3,5L drain ec 0,75 ph 6,15
29.03 s2 ec 0,6 ph 5,85 s1 0,95 ph 5,85 drain ec 0,96 ph 6,25
31.03 s1 ec 1,05 ph 5,9
04.03 s1 s2 ec 1,0 ph 5,8
06.04 ec 1,0 ph 5,8 drain ec 1,0 ph 6,45
07.04 flush 10ml ec 0,75 ph 5,5 drain ph 5,95
09.04 flush 15ml ec ec 0,5 ph 5,5 // s2 new pots 3,5L fed with ec 0,73 ph 5,85 15ml rhizo 15ml zym after flush

hopefully someone can identify the problem and help me out ;)

peace out :thank you:

s1z.....from those pix and from the levels you've been feeding, those plants are just hungry. Especially if you're vegging under 400 watts, they need higher levels of nutes. I would recommend bumping it up to EC 1.2 for a couple of days....you should see them become more green with faster new growth.

hey drama, thanks for your reply - i always thought curled leafs are a sign of nute burn / too high levels of ec? check this one out - it grew kinda curly from the beginning on...

Those plants look plenty happy to me. It's not at all unusual to see Indica hybrids like that throw off an occasional mutant leaf like that. Do what you feel is best on increasing your nutrient level, but they look damn good to me.

mgk :tiphat:

Out of the slime, finally.

Does anybody have any experience with Roots Organics Green Lite mix?

It is coco, lots of small perlite, and a pre-charge of nutes. The results I have witnessed are really good. The pre-charge of nutes seems to fill the void of anything missing from the daily fertigating. Perfectly healthy and green leaves. The stuff is very airy and best of all, cheaper than a regular bag of straight coco.

What is the best medium mix for less watering intervals

What is the best medium mix for less watering intervals

Hi Ic maggers
Im growing in a 5 gallon bucket
and Im trying to cut down on the feeding intervals
What is the best medium to mix in the 5 gallon
Ill do 50% Coco
what else would I use to retain the water so that I dont have to water so much
Some Perlite?
organic soil?

Anyone tried
watersorb crystals, http://www.watersorb.com/

Im trying to get it down to twice a week feedings
and thats all depending upon what phase and how hungry the plants are

rooms at a steady 75-77, humidity 55

D

Durdy

I've only used this mix outdoors, but it seems to retain water well

50% black gold just coir, 30% perlite, 10% EWC, and 10% Compost.

could probably cut back on the perlite and increase the ewc / compost?

note i've only used this mix in a 55 gallon pot.
