Veg N Out

This summer heat has been amazing and progress has been coming at a good clip, I managed to put in half my D.O.Gs today, tomorrow I will get the other half in and have all my plants in the ground!

The Betsys I put in on 4/25 are the biggest and best plants I've ever grown to date. Looking forward to the rest of the Summer tending these plants. They are actually going to grow now that the days are getting hot! I have been tricking them in to warmer temps by keeping the plastic over the hoop house and some times putting one end on in the mornings to get it warm early in there...Nothing beats the UV index of full Summer sun!

Here are some of the D.O.Gs I managed to get in today. I don't know where I would be with out my friend. He really saved my ass getting these in the ground with me. I've said it before and I will say it again, a bit later of a start and 15 gal bags next year!

Thanks to every one for the kind words and support!

Till next time!

Well if you know about organics then you know that mulch compost and if its been sitting there im willing do bet some inorganic stuff is in the mulch. For example cause it seems that you might not know about composting newspaper with ink all over it will compost as well as any other paper material. If your finding trash in it im willing to bet there was stuff composting in it that you cant just pick out

all kidding aside, that's a main reason i like to compost my own. Even though our local newspapers say they use a vegetable based dye, I am a little nervous about the colored advertisements and slick paper {that shit's probably fine too though}

Im sure it is fine veg and everyone els using the stuff has beautiful gardens but if theres plastic horses coming out of the mulch and all sorts of other trash im pretty sure its coming from the dump. Plastic breaks down into tiny pieces and water leaches certain chemicals out one of them is BPA which is essentially synthetic estrogen which imho should be avoided if possible.

The microbe mulch is the heavies from the compost screening at the worm farm, couple kids toys and random trash pieces easily picked out and thrown away

Hey Tom, I know you're going to be able to read this and I wanted you to know I'm thinking about you..... I hope you're doing well Brother....

I know a lot of other people are upset with what's been going on, but I just wanted to let everyone know Tom will be with us again. I can't and won't get into specifics but it's my hope Tom is able to rejoin our family in the near future.

Man, I work all day, and am all excited and impressed with myself....

Then I come check in here, and am humbled by the progress of others!

We had a situation fall into our lap, and didn't have any plans for any season this year, we only manage to pull things together since mid May!

Next year if the laws don't change too drastically, I can't wait to be able to do this outdoor with PROPER planning!

So are you saying compost, or worm compost, that uses paper with ink in it isn't organic? By who's definition? OMNI? Who are you to say what is organic? That is the real game if you know anything about organics.

As for the "stuff composting that you can't pick out" the organic matter will take care of that in it self. Yes, a little trash, especially plastic, isn't organic. However, this is Earth we are living on. Humans have trash in every corner of the world. You can't take an organic certified farm and take that certification away because they had some stray plastic on the property.

Kind of like saying, if you fed the cow hormones and un-organic food, then the poop is non organic poop, and can't be composted and called organic. Or kind of like you aren't a vegan if you eat veggies that have been grown with blood meal. People just don't back track that far.

Anyways, off point.

That is true, there may be inorganic compounds in their faeces due to diet and hormone regimens. Maybe the US has different standards as to what organic means, but I wholeheartedly agree with the statement that I think you were presenting ironically..

Clearly many are divided on this topic...

You mean the soy based ink most newspapers use that completely breaks down? Yeah, toxic stuff......:comfort:

If cows are not fed organically and are given hormones the shit is no longer organic thats what organic is man organically fed and raised, not chemicaly fed and raised if your about organics you should know this im not saying your farm is no longer organic im saying the mulch isnt organic.

Some inks are toxin, that was old school
but some of them still use that plumb poisoned heavy metal ink.

If its mulch non organic then end product can not be 100% organic.
Its impossible to soil or nutrients or or are non organic but to end product become organic!

Here farmers got pain in the ass to get certificate and permission to use etiquette "ORGANIC".

What ? now you make big deal about used compost in
canna growing but that GMO shit what you eat and drink is OK and its not toxic for you but these "non organic buds" is ? LOL ?

Dude, you are confusing two very different things.

Organic fed and raised refers to food. I have never bought compost that said organic raised and fed composted manure. If I did I would laugh very very hard.

Have you bought organic compost......in a bag before? Of course you have.

Have you watered your organic compost from a plastic hose before? Of course you have.

Have you bought organic food in plastic containers before? Of course you have.

I could go on, but I am tired of this conversation, we are going round in circles. Hope you have a fantastic season, and no bad blood here. :tiphat:

yeah; nothing is 'organic' & everything is 'organic' ~consensus w/ this issue is something that happens when you are talking to people who already agree w/ you
