Also, How do you fellas tell when it's time to water your gals? My growth has been less vigorous then expected and I'm not sure whether it's over watering, under watering or something else? I have a moisture meter probe that penetrates to about 8 inches and it says very wet but when I dive down with my hand about 4 inches it seems pretty dry

Also the two pots that I added bone meal, blood meal, and kelp meal to have the most vigorous plants by FAR!! much much larger then the others, I feel this was my undoing, unfortunately funds were very low at the begginning of the season anything that could be done now?

Are You growing Sativas? Seems like that would be the easiest. I lived on Maui in 77. The weed we had there back then was real good. It was probably that Elephant weed

yea mango haze ,but if the timeing isn't right they go to flower right away,I'd like to add lights at night for 6-8 hrs to get a 3 mo veg just wondering how much cfl would be need to keep them from flowering? If anyone's tried that and could give me any tips much mahalo's...

p.s. I've seen some foliar spray's that claim to keep fruit trees from flowering any experiences??? thanks

elephant weed is still here...

Well, well, well. Lotsa nice gardens thus far, just wanted to pop by and drop a quick update. Here's a couple of my ladies, the first is a Dieselrella, then my sativa-ish pheno of DJ Blueberry. Last year she was about half this size at this point and pulled 7+. I'll post a one month full garden comparison a little later today/tomorrow...

Looks like everybody is having fun out there, keep up the hard work!

LOL. Mine are exact 2:3 scale replicas of yours, TG. I hope that nature does the same thing for me as your supplementals... I am ready to see these things stretch...

I'm sure they are much more manageable. When they get all big they are complicated to take care of. Next year, as always, will be better.

On the plus side, the plants look like I kicked whatever funk that was creeping in on me. Had another 2 gallons of Companion and 50 grams of MycoStop brought up to really dose them before flower.

Any one grown the JTR? Does your finished bud smell like Trainwreck? Real funky sour gummy worm stem rub and extremely vigorous growth...The Jacks Cleaner ends up having that Trainwreck smell profile though...so...Hopefully the cross doesn't ..It grows too nicely to have to trash it!!

Nomaad - How's the MK Ultra looking? Did you stick any in your light dep? How are those doing..Should have some nice bud shots in a week or two :)

Another Crappy Day in Paradise.

Another Crappy Day in Paradise.

Summer is here. Had a hard rain storm a few days ago. Dropped a few branches, but the majority came through with fixable problems.

Hup. It is easy to use our short photoperiod to grow enormous plants. The way to do it is to do your breeding over short season. If you can acclimate Sativa strains to our photoperiod no lights will be needed.

It took me one season to acclimate the Jack Herer. Some are easy than others. Thai strains also are easy to acclimate too. No lights are ever used to delay flowering.

Below are some shitty pics of a few of this year's girls. All are grown in ground, and framed out with bamboo and fishing line. The last couple of days we have had some wind, which they came thru quite well. Many are in the 8 to 10 ft tall range.

Ive grown out a couple of females of JTR, and both smelled like lemons. One much like an astringent lemon cleaner, and the other like the fruit lemon. Great smelling ladies, but potency was nothing to brag about, and some late nanners on both.

The positive is the very vigorous growth you mentioned. Easily some of the most vigorous plants Ive grown.

Hi everybody, just signed up for an account. Been watching this thread for a while now. Some of the best info on outdoor ive come across. a lot of good info here that is not talked about in grow books. Some of the gardens here r just amazing!!

So ive been using the 200 gallon smart pots and decided to go big this year moving up to the 800 g size which r 8' wide special order. of course u cant fit 800 gallons of soil in there as u have to leave atleast a few inches at the top. I would rather dig 12X12 holes but unfortunatley cant cause of termites as my property sits on an old orchard. i already had problems with these little bastards years ago before i went all organic..... indoors when i was doing hydro the damn things came out in february and swarmed everywhere going in the hydro buckets, rez and lines......the most unbelievable thing ive ever had happen inside and then it happended again in a week, was a nightmare to say the least so I really dont wanna gamble outdoors with those little bastards.

So I decided to rock toms mix full strength. This was costly and time consuming to mix up but i figured it would be worth it in the end. Quality is what im after. took two semis of black gold(for both gardens) and shitload of amendments, labor and a 1 3/4 yd cement mixer which we were able to mix 300 gallons at a time. so a little over 2 mixes per pot.

As far as the weather goes man it really screwed up the program and screwed up the indo too cause i had to keep the outdoor plants in for longer than i had planned and the rest were supposed to be budded out inside earlier but thats another story.

As for watering Im doing it old school i guess u coiuld say. Just a 1 1/2" pool vacuum hose with homemade watering wand plumbed to a 2500 gallon cone bottom tank at the top of the hill with a powerful pump that moves a shitload of water. takes an hour to water the entire garden. I figured this was time well spent as i could spend a couple minutes inspecting each plant as i go around plus using pots this big they dont have to be watered that often. I used supplemental lighting too, 2 cfl bulbs over each plant which was taken down almost 2 weeks ago.

Ive had a lot of problems thanks to the weather and already had to get rid of a monster GDP and also had some bad genetics from oakland. never gonna trust just any strain anymore. big mistake on my part. the xj13s r not good at all. the green cush aka green cracks i got r pathetic and one of the two had to be thrown out, but the majority of everything out there is doing good enoough to pull through. normally i do my own clones but had problems this year. Also had trouble with the town as I built a 9' fence and some assssshole at the end of my street reported me to the town and i was gonna get fined $500 a day for a fence talller than 6'. did u know u have no right to find out who signed the citizen complaint but i have a pretty good idea. What BS especially since im on the edge of town barely in town limits. So i had to chop it down to 6'. just took a circular saw and made a straight cut, forget notching out the tops on that many boards as i already had at 9' to make it pro and did everything right with the concrete to make sure it was sturdy as hell. when the winds came through it didnt even move. The way i had it at 9' looked great, it secured, and concelaed the garden. The lumber cost a small forrtune at $12 a board. What a shame to have to chop it to 6' after all that hard work.... that was not a fun day. Now the troublemakers are complaining to the cops cause they can see the plants and theyre telling me i have to put something up to block the view. the town is so screwed up they said i could give em $929 apllication fee to apply for building permit for taller fence but then they would deny it anyways regardless. What Jerks! Dont wanna go through a long drawn out legal battle in superior court to have a damn fence even though i could probly win. The town attorneys are virtually incompetent. The shitty start and all this BS with these nosey cry babies that have nothing better to do than bother me has me reconsidering whether i should even be doing outdoor anymore. maybe ill change my mind once harvest season hits..:plant grow:

thanks to all who have contributed information to this thread especially tom! enough talking, heres some pics. not sure why they must be clicked on to enlarge instead of just staying a large size. pots r 8' wide for reference
