now first of all, that first list has iron maidens number of the beast listed at nr 83, now that just plain ignorant imo. best maiden album was powerslave anyway, and lol its a better rock album then bob marley i'd say. nr 16 on your list there.

secondly, wutang clan, public enemy, outkast, 2pac, etc... hardly rock albums. i think the post was what do YOU think is the best rock album, not what does rolling stones magazine want to sell atm.

imo, yeah... madonna is not rock, that is crazy...

what the heck is rock music anyways? nowdays the different names given to different genres is not respected at all... anything can be rock, like foo fighters, who are obviously a pop band, not rock, or ramones, which are punk.

led zep, deep purple, black sabbath, these are examples of classic rock bands...

why? it is not just that they use the same instruments and similar aesthetics, but the content of the lyrics defines a lot what is rock and what is not rock, not just the guitar riffs and drum beats...

but this is a whole other subject for a whole other thread imo...
