Now I'm off to pack to prepare to drive a camper van back up to Alaska that's worth 4 times what we're giving, in pristine shape, with a very low number of miles for its age, whiich has been thoroughly gone through over a course of 3 weeks at a good shop that does a wide variety of classic vehicles and others..
My older son is coming home tomorrow evening fro a wedding out-of-state, and has a new car waiting for him to go to work in..
My daughter is having her house remodeled, and is working multiple lucrative nurse contracts that pay her phenomenally well most of the time.
My younger son is still floating around trying to recall where he left his conscience; maybe he'll find it.
My wife is back from visiting her mother; the source of the van.
My bills are paid.
My government is no different, no better or worse, than it was last week or last month, though better than it was a couple years ago, even if only marginally. And I've rarely deluded myself about the nature of my govenment. I DID learn, however, not to follow nutcases off of tall cliffs in pursuit of mirages consisting of sunshine, lollipops, rainbows and dishonest bullshit.
I still mostly live the way I like, with little to no interfeence that stops me.. other than physical ability declining.. Such is life..
I've more or less stopped focusing on my cancer as much as I had been; it'll do what it'll do.
I've got more premium pot here, frozen in seals, than I'll ever need to smoke, but it'll get used in extract for a long time to come.
My house is warm, and there's over 12 months worth of #1 heating oil on site, with more on the way soon.
Oh, and I may or may not be taking a boat up through the SE Alaska Panhandle to bring the van home, allowing a nice 4-day rest in a private stateroom, assuming I don't drive, which I probably will.
Our dogs are healthy, and even my wife's nearly-20-year-old poodle is pretty spry lately.
Almost all of the Fall chores outside are finished with, but for taking down a small screen house.
I've got a shitload of frozen fish, baby back pork ribs for the smokers, wild-caught shrimp/prawns, chicken, and plant-based protein sources in the freezer, and a fine collection of seasonal and more common American, English, and German beers, and a couple bottles of really delectable tequila.
And with no party or candidate to diappointment me or lie to me, I feel no real losses or betrayals there either. I simply recognize scum for being what it is.
