He was not being serious. He was simply trying to make a point. The point he was trying to make is that the sun is most responsible for climatic changes on earth and the moon is most responsible for ocean levels around the world. Both of which are true.

So, a (up to) 5% chance that they are wrong (like they were about the origins of COVID-19)?? Hmmm, I think it is extremely likely that this is politics, not science. Remember when they censored and smeared any scientist or individual or organization (including organizations of scientists) who questioned the obvious fact that COVID-19 came from the lab that studies and enhances bat based corona viruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (level 4 biosecurity lab)?? When you stifle questions and dissenting opinions, it is not science. It's religion. And, it is extremely dangerous.

"Most of this excess energy (about 90%) warms the ocean, with the remainder heating the land, melting snow and ice, and warming the atmosphere."

"We show that these two independent approaches yield a decadal increase in the rate of energy uptake by Earth from mid-2005 through mid-2019, which we attribute to decreased reflection of energy back into space by clouds and sea-ice and increases in well-mixed greenhouse gases and water vapor," the summary said.

Increases in greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide and methane, trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere and capture outgoing radiation, leading to warming and subsequently snow and ice melt and other changes.

The doubling of the imbalance is due to the increase of greenhouse gases – or "anthropogenic forcing" – and increases in water vapor and decreases in clouds and sea ice.

Ultimately, the study determined that unless the rate of heat intake abates, the Earth is in for greater changes in climate.
