Correct. We in the west do not comprehend the long game of war and conquest like they do in the middle east and Asia. A country which is centuries old has a population with centuries old memory and therefore almost timeless strategy.

Most parts of the world extended families live together, expanding their household as the family grows. Parents and grandparents remain and are cared for with respect. This is very different from the western pattern, where offspring are expected to and are pressured to leave 'the family' at a certain age. Later, the parents sell the family home as they downsize or go to a 'retirement home'

This contributes to a feeling of isolation from one's own history. Perhaps this is one cause of the high rates of mental instability, addiction, inability to comprehend the perspectives of others.
