yesterday i raised the light to 18 inches above the screen from less than a foot above. the idea behind this was to get the plant to stretch a little faster since i was hoping to start 12/12 on the 1st of April. so that being said....was that a bad idea?
i'll get a pic on tuesday or wednesday, but right now i've got 4 branches that have reached above the screen and have been pushed back under. the screen is 11 inches from soil btw.
my main concern now, is when should it be put into flower? i have a maximum of 2.5 ft above the screen for flower space. the first clone started out at 3 inches tall, and after 5 weeks seems to have peaked at 8 inches tall. i dont know how this will equate to stretch of the main plant though.
I would start flowering now. The plant should still stretch for a bit when flowering starts. You aren't flowering with a large HID, so your light penetration is a lot more limited. There is no sense in trying to shine light 3 feet down below the top of the plant.
If it were me, I'd remove the screen and just super-crop/train the plant.
i agree with blynx about taking the screen out and just prune/train it. that'll be a for sure thing on the next go 'round. for the sake of seeing if it comes anywhere near what i imagined before putting the screen down, i gotta leave it in. first go...what the hell.
but i gotta ask, why do you both say flip it now? be as specific as possible lol
the soonest it can get the first 12 hours light (to keep with my time schedule) is friday.
oh and i dont know if this changes anything, but i wasn't really imagining anything going on below the screen when it was put in there. there's still 2.5 ft vertical space and the bin is more or less 2 x 2.
so considering that it is from a sativa dominant strain, and the first clone will just about about be tripled in size by the time its done, and my head is a bit more clear....i would have to say you guys are right about the flip. i will start it tonight so it will get 12 hours dark to start the flower cycle. going to count tomorrow as first day of 12/12.
3 weeks in to 12/12 and she's starting to look really nice. the screen has filled out pretty well, and last week the bottom leaves/branches were removed to make watering easier. been giving her a gallon of water with a low dose of veg nutes so she keeps stretching. got about 2 weeks left of stretch (if she sticks to same timeline as the clones). i can't think of anything else, so here are some pics!
Update on the first clone in the flower room! We had a little mishap around week 6 and lost some fans, but here we are at week 10 of 12/12. thinking she has about a week left? trichs are getting milky and more than 50% dark hairs...
UPDATE. Here she is at 4 weeks of 12/12. She smells so great... diesel and haze, heavy on the haze. She is slowing down on the stretching, but the canopy is starting to even out by itself. haven't been doing anything to her, aside from turning the pot 180 degrees.
Thanks for stopping by! I'm probably going to keep cloning this plant out for a while. The smell is fantastic.. well, if you like the smell of a haze bomb!
About half way there! Just finishing up week 6 of 12/12! Not much going on. Gave her a low dose of beastie bloomz and a low dose of aqua vega A last watering. Going to post pics of the first clone as well. There are 5 colas already BIGGER than the clone, 10 that are same size, and like 10-15 more that will hopefully finish up to the same size... just for a size reference.
Pics of the first clone, think this is 70-71 days of actual flowering. Going to take her down on day 77 most likely. Can't really tell, but her calyxes are turning purple! That is a nice surprise for sure!
