Testing out a new grow bin...

Getting everything dialled in. Does that heat sink fan combination have the ability to cool the air that comes in? Like some Peltier effect?

I'm going to have to start taking some clones too.l I can see this a necessary skill to acquire. I topped the fifth node of my unknown nirvana and there are plenty of branches below the doughnut like canopy that's developed.

as long as the heatsink stays cool, the air passing through it will be cool. towards the tail end of the light cycle the metal is a little warm but it still blows cooler air than what's around the lights. as far as the science behind it, i gave up trying to figure out details, and just go off of functionality.

does it look like it will stay in the doughnut shape, or will it fill in to a flat canopy? i'm still debating whether or not to top this plant. but ya, cloning is actually pretty fun after you get the first few under your belt (kinda nerve-wrecking for the first ones haha). and it's obviously a good way to increase yield, and keep your favorite plants alive. i also found it easier to use smaller clones for making a small amount of seeds. Rather than trying to pollinate a single bud/branch, just cut it off and make a clone and then pollinate.

haha....

so, took another clone. no big deal. was about to put the plant back in the bin and noticed pistils growing on the top half of the plant. my first assumption is/was it's an autoflower plant. are there any other factors that could make a plant flower with 18 hours of light? the light schedule has been the same. As you can tell from the rest of the thread, the lights themselves and the temperature in the bin have been varied pretty much constantly up until now. the clones that were taken 3 weeks ago that have been under more stable conditions have no pistils btw. any thoughts?

Probably genetics. A really rootbound cut might throw some pistils out.

honestly, i really didn't spend enough time looking at it. i was too stuck on the idea that it was an auto plant. tied it down to where the best branches could get the best light. now that i'm reading more about it, it probably is just preflowers. not use to that....although that does explain a couple male plants i've had in the past. lol

about to throw 2 of them in there. then in a couple weeks 2 more. then save last one for mum. only going to take 2 more, which will go into flower in a month or so. plans tend to change though, so we will see what really happens haha. will get pics of the plant in the bin soon.

Update time!

after the 5 clones taken and most fan leaves being trimmed off, it is finally bouncing back. going to take the bottom 2 branches as clones once they get a little bigger.

going to leave it alone aside from some LST to fill the screen. also dropped the light way down today.

the clone in the flower room

getting pretty :)

thanks midwest. decided to do what you said and just top the plant. realized there was going to be way too much going on over on that side. also took a couple more clones. right now there are 9 branches coming off the main stem. and most of them are starting to look really good.

Coming along unk she looks good, 6 weeks? Actual flowering time around 2-3 weeks? Nice screen setup that should work perfect.

5 weeks of 12/12 so far. the second wave of clones started shooting out pistils after a week of 12/12. so the first clone was still trying to get rooted the first week or more. i dunno. will be interesting to see how all the clones are going to be after various veg times before flower.

just remembered both the main plant and the first clone have received nutes. so on the 21st, the main plant got 8ml each of Canna AV A(5-0-2) and B(0-3-4) per gal of water. on the 25th(right before the pic was taken), the first clone got 2 cups of Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz(0-50-30) which was a half dose: 1/2 tsp. per gal.
