Looking good glad to see the updates. Tell me more about your game camera set up?

For a guy just getting started you sure have good discipline on where the money gets spent? Honestly brother from one small time guerrilla growing head stash to another. It takes discipline to spend the little money left each season wisely. My motto that I try real hard to stand by. "All hobby expenses come from the hobby and not from personal income."

Not as easy as it sounds for guys working in the shadows.

How many cameras?
What type? Buy the cheapest ones ?
Cameras pointed at the patch only or on trails around it?
Checking by hand or have a web based system?

PEACE

Looking real good brotha !! I really like the trail cam ....such a good investment and is a great way to see what roams while your away? How close to your plots are the cameras?

Stack up your mounds as big as possible before winter....in the spring you should grab soil samples to test for what amendments are needed.

Are you going to be lasagna stacking your mounds with a layers of manure/soil, and leaves/stick? Or just mixing them together?

My plots are within 1/2 mile of the cams, I put them at the beginning of each leg into my patch pretty much so I know if it's safe to enter or not.

Sounds good man, I've never done organics outdoor so this is all new to me... what would you recommend doing to each hole before the snow hits?

One of my two new spots this year is a home run when it comes to soil - everything is exploding there. I'm gonna go big here next year, so I wanna get most of the work done in the next 2 months to prevent getting another late start. Cheers!

Hit the patches earlier today to see how everything was doing and I came upon a little surprise - I missed a male! It ended up being a Purple Rhodi (purple elephant x ortega) male thankfully... one of my frostiest girls out there right now. She's got some sativa in her, so we'll see how the girls do and if they finish soon enough to call these beans testers.

He's pretty vigorous, but only time will tell if he's got what it takes to finish in time and resist the mold our late season humidity so generously provides us.

I've got a bunch of different females surrounding him, including Blue Widow, more Purple Rhodi, Church, and a few other strains. These are all fully seeded and 100% organic. If anyone believes in epigenetics then you can only imagine how eager I am to run these beans in the same spot next year...

Here are some girls in a different spot that aren't seeded:

The Church is doing great for me so far. No mold, nice structure, decently sized plant, and she stacks well. Looks like it's going to be a good yielder as well.

These next two are Purple Rhodi in female version:

Next is Blue Widow - my favorite by far. This girl always produces well for me and fends off mold and mildew pretty easily too. She's got bag appeal, and high CBD content so I run it every year. I just may be adding Church to my go-to outdoor seed as well... both are impressing me.

So all in all, I won't yield quite as big as I planned on this year due to the pollination but I will run everything for ice water hash to keep my head fed. I won't grow in the swamp next year, it didn't do what I thought it would do and is clearly anaerobic to an extent. I will begin digging more holes in my 2nd location and invest in it next year. The remainder of this year will consist of chopping clearings for small patches (8'x12') where I'll be making large beds in. I'll lay down material to break down over winter so when spring hits I can just plug and play.

I also found a 2nd entrance to the location I'm going to stick with next year, and it's better than the first one I was using. This will also give me 2 options in the case of a threat coming, which is amazing. As an indoor grower venturing outside for his 2nd year I thought it would be easier than this, but with every mistake comes a lesson and that's something you can't ignore in the midst of frustration. I almost lost it today when I saw that male peering up in between the girls. But if these beans do well, I'll have epigenetically adapted genetics for this specific location... making next year's potential pretty exciting. As long as I manage to find all the males.... that is

These last 2 are rando's I kept for eye candy

Nice thread :)

Be interested to hear how the Church buzz compares….
I've seen good things said about that strain a few years back...

Oh shit, is that possible?! It looks like he opened up everything he had so I left him in there. Think I should still yank it?

It will continue producing pollen and immature seeds taking away from health of seeds already made and any bud it would have produced. Yank it now, you should still have more then enough seeds.

Dude that was a huge male fully opened you will have thousands of seeds.

Seeds =mold brother. All depends on your weather of course but keep an eye on the interior of the buds.

When the female is pollinated all the energy goes into producing seeds and the leaves around the seed (inside the bud) die. If you have any rain or humid weather the dead leaves don’t shed the moisture. I have seen seeds sprouting tails right out of the buds before with mold all around them.

Not a huge deal if you are after seeds but depending on how much mold it doesn’t make for great ice extraction in my opinion.

Small mistakes have big circumstances. I missed an early male in my KO kush patch. It only opened ¼ of the way in the end of june - 1st week of july and almost all of the KO girls got prego. Lots of rain and cool summer made for mucho mold on the KO Kush. They all looked “Spectacular” on the outside until you opened up the buds.

Keep your head up TM if you continue down the guerilla road there will be many more challenges ahead leaf spot, corn worms, mold, rippers etc. I know its hard to look at all the hard work and see some of it turn out fruitless but I have learned to walk away in good spirits. Keep telling yourself it’s the journey not the destination that matters.
Or it could be I’m so old I forget easily hehehehe.

I still have my first swamp grow going on with some blue widow. I will let you know what I think in 4 weeks.

I'll def crack a nugget open next time I visit and inspect for mold then, thanks for the warning man. I never meant for this patch to get pollinated, I left it for 2 weeks after I thought all of them had pistols. I didn't see anything on one plant, and it ended up being this male I bet. It's a strain called Purple Rhodi by RedEye Genetics, so I'm excited to see what the beans turn out like with all of the crosses made. Since I'm running a grow here next year most likely, these beans will do best here since they were bred here. I read into epigenetics a lot after GGG started talking about them... it's really interesting stuff.

I've had female kush plants outside that molded up pretty bad... I think it's a kush thing. Did you have any other seeded plants with mold from other strains?

I'm not sweatin the pollination man, I did at first but I'm looking at it as a gift and def a good lesson. I'll only run female cuts outside for now on from proven mothers... I already started hunting for next year's pheno's. Check out my blue widow goin right now... I bet yours is turning fall colors as well:

I yanked the male today, it was completely open anyways. The seed pods look big, I'm hoping for some healthy beans here.

Does anyone have anymore advice for me on harvesting/drying these seeded girls? It's my first seed harvest, not sure how early/late they're typically mature compared to the flowers themselves. A new chapter indeed...

6 weeks from pollination and the seeds should be mature.
Once the caylax splits and the striped seed is loose inside there, its ready.
