TANGIE: Crocketts Cut or DNA

Does anyone know the history of how DNA and Crockett's Tangie originated, beyond Crockett held onto an old cut from the 1990's in Humbolt?

It seems that Crockett did the leg work and then DNA made the 1st public release. Now DNA is only offering feminzed Tangie. Did they only offer feminized or just moved away from the regular tangie?

Crockett was selling regular tangie seeds at the cup.

How much different is Crockett's cut from the FEM DNA Tangie?

Which one is better?

DNA's Tangie is the same as Crocketts.
Crockett works with DNA.
If i remeber correctly, Tangie is Cali-O x (Skunk Haze)

Obviously the seeds might be a little different from Crocketts personal Tangie keeper clone.
But its the same genetics afaik.

and i think they did used to offer Tangie regs. fwiw.

Anybody read about the crocket family crew in"THE HEART OF DANKNESS"
It's a fun read for anyone remotely interested in mj!

There is the intro btwn DNA and crocket chronicled in the final chapter.
Crocket mentions his work on a "private reserve haze" wich was renamed bananna and now seems to b going by "family secret"...

Anyway, during that meeting in Amsterdam the Tangerine Dream was all the rage and was a winner in the cup. Naturally crocket being a private breeder picked up his favs along w that years winners.
The DNA listing on the tude says crockets cut was part of Tangerine Dream '94 or '95.
It's hard to say how many generations hav gone into the line after Crockett started working it.
But DNA seems to have allowed him to sell the same lines from his own site, along w some other crosses of DNA stock like a LA Con male. Wich I'm sure is fantastic.
So it would seem to me the two camps are prety freely sharing the best cuts for each project.

Anyway BOTH Crocketts cut, And DNA'sTangie won awards at this years cup in the Dam!
If the kosher tangie I hav going is any indocation it's going to b some tasty shit.

Yeah thats a great book.
Ever since then ive had my eye out for that Private Reserve. Its supposed to be Ghost OG x (Skunk x Haze), with the Haze being the original from Santa Cruz circa 1970's.
Sounds killer.
I also have an High Times from few years ago that featured Crockett. He grows some fire. for sure.

And yeah, the tangie is steady winning cups.
I think its won more cups than other strain in history. pretty sure.

I was in Amaterdam for the cup (lol) last year and heard that the Crockets were at the DNA shop selling seeds. I made contact with Mrs Crockett to double check they had reg Tangie seeds and she confirmed their price (€80/10 pack) and that they were well stocked.

Headed down to the DNA store, 5 mins away from my hotel, only to be told by whoever it was behind the counter that they only had fem versions for €120/5 pack.

You can bet your ass I laughed me way out of the shop.

Fuck DNA and their shady bullshit.

@crockett420 never released tangie seeds to dna. Also he only released tangie under his name as regular not fem. ever. The tangie that was released 2 years ago by dna hermied. It was a cut DNA got to choose from Crockett and then they did what they had to do to release 'tangie' under their name. However Crockett had nothing to do with this. It was upsetting to see DNA even use his name alongside that release as the seeds sucked, weren't of a stable nature and shouldn't have been made. However, tangie was released by Crockett as regular under his name and that's the only tangie that's the 'true' tangie and the only one he will stand behind.

The question should be: Agent Orange or DNA/Crockett's Tangie? Because Crocket provided the strains to DNA guys and it's said that it's made of the same Cali orange skunk genes as the Agent O. Same Cali-O cut was used by Subcool to bred the Agent Orange.

Everyone seems to be jumping on the orange/tangerine bandwagon lately so expect loads of seed releases to fit this market niche and customer demand due to the current trend. Of course if you have access to any proven clones, that would be definitely the best option. Most people seem to say that both AO and Tangie strains lack potency besides the great terpenes, so a good clone would definitely do the job. Aeric77's Cali-O cut is the original McCoy, Cali Orange is the originator of all this "brand new wave" of classic citrus strains.

Don't pay too much attention to any cup winners and all that. Cups=Hype & $, plain and simple. There is a big bussiness and lots of interests behind cups and cannabis fairs. Winning cups means nothing but hidden commercial interests and global marketing campaings to increase profit from seeds companies.

Jelly Bean from TGA is another beatiful smelling orangey, also Satsuma and Blood Orange from Bodhi (they were done with the original AE77 Cali O cut). Both the Dago Walker cut and Soma's NYCD are some other tangerine smelling clones that people love.

Peace.

If you choose only between those DNA or Crockett version, go for the regular you'll get better females to make mother plant.I've already done some Jillybean in 2009 and some Blood Orange in 2014, I found some crazy tasting pheno in those strains, strong orange smell and taste, like smoking a glass of juice. The smell is so strong that it's getting disgusting pretty fast, you can't chain smoke those buds.

RareDankness brought some Tangerine in the Game, which isnt based on the DNA/Crocketts Genetical Lineage...

I smoked nearly all the Tangies in Dam to know what i'm talking about and i'm sure everyone here who likes the DNA Tangy will like RareDankness Tangys too... Same Taste, Same Smell but not the same Lineage! Very interesting... For my self i stopped growing DNA Tangies for the RareDankness ones.... Best choice ive done sofar...

I'm gonna trust ya on this info GSTMI. Hella strange I sent DNA a question today about the difference between the two. DNA's has the registered trademark symbol next to the name in their catalog, and the name is just "Tangie". The other is "Crockett's Tangie", and it's not trademarked.

I'm going with Crockett's. Never had it or DNA's. I guess you can call me a sucka for the hype on this one, but the pics and reports got me. I haven't even seen it at the clubs out here (most of their stuff is mids to me) so Im'a run her for myself.

I tried one of the reserva tangie(DNA) and it grew like a vine. I thought it was a male so gave it to a friend who was going to collect pollen. It ended up being a girl that grew like a vine lol. I don't think I would try it again even though I like DNA strains typically.

This ^^^^^^^

The Soma Tangerine NYCD Cut is so good, smell, taste and especially the exceptionally wonderfull high that I simply don't believe that this Tangie hype is anything more than Bullshit, especially with those shady liars involved.

I asked in another thread about it if anyone had smoked the Tangie and how it compared to T-NYCD and got no answer,so to me, it smells like another DnA reach around

My brother got 7 females and 5 males. 4/7 threw either bright pink or deep purple hues. 2 of them were worth keeping around but one of the two looked exactly like the pictures DNA were throwing up of their cut, except it finished with crazy pink and purple hues on the buds, in Lahaina during the winter. This one was like a citrus purée way over the top taste like an orange candy. High was a very nice balance of mind and body relaxation. Great for any time of day but I preferred it for daytime cuz of the zen type effect lol
My brother doesn't really know what he's doing either but it still came out amazing. It was pulled around 9-10 weeks. Still kick myself in the ass for not taking cuts.

The one I gave my friend turned out female and tasted like a grapefruit after a few bites into it. sweet on the inhale then sour citrus flavor that puckers your mouth on the exhale. The smell was such a powerful grapefruit citrus ammonia cleaning product type of smell. I couldnt even hold it to my nose for more than a second. Had a fair amount of purple on the tips of the pods, and short fat purple and green leaves that faded to that beautiful red/orange/yellow sunset color combo. High was straight couch lock shishi nainai effect. Did not take any cuts off that one either. Fucking genius
2/8 that I woulda kept forever. Not bad odds there

Where From? DNA direct to USA???
