looks dank man, you should let them go like 65 days at least bro! Get them riiipe and SUPER FLUSHED, you really want those inner leaves to be yellow from lack of nootes. The best smoke for sure I can assure you lol. Nice colas huuuge, not uch smell huh? Hmm that's alright, I'm sure it'll come on some more. Make sure to flush those girls, and I use sweet it works really well. On one pic I noticed some spotting/yellowing...Are those spider mites??? It sounded like you had the bugs under control but I remember you said that you put them outside once. Well anyway they look dank, and they are about to get super frosted! PEACE

EDIT-Just looked at the pictures again, man I can stress how important it is that you let all the plants get orange hairs, ALL ORANGE and then let them like ripen for another week on top of that. Flush them in the mean time. Seriously, with the scope you look for amberness, but I have read that most inside lights like we use don't have much UVB rays like the sun has and this is were THC comes from. So inside we produce dank resin glands, but usually they just become cloudy or stay clear. Outdoors produces a lot more amber color glands because it has more UVB rays but still not enough. MJ plants could use more UVB rays than the sun puts out.

So what I am saying is, unless you have a reptile light in there with your 1000watt you probably should judge your plants finishing times a different way. I have a scope and I still like to let the plants hairs ALL turn orange, then let it sit another week while I flush it SUPER bomb until the inner leaves are all yellow as well as the large fan leaves. Hope this helps man, just wanted to say something cuz that picture at day 52 of flowering looks like it still needs another 2 weeks at least. PEACE BRO

Caligreen thanks a ton. I appreciate the advice and will follow it.

D Rock - The only reason I am doing this well is cause all you guys taught me the right way to do it. Thanks!

I went today and looked and the hairs and they are turning orange more and more. The lower fans are yellow. So I will keep flushing and post so more pics soon.

Harvest and Manicure

Harvest and Manicure

Well the project is almost to the good part. We used a progressive system of manicuring this time. Making passes at the fan leaves first. Next day making passes at middle large. In between they would be put back in the dark 70 degree room with a fan running.
Last night was the final keff run and we trimmed up a bag for a our friend that does that. So we are now wet manicured and hanging.
The spider mites were a last minute thing so not too much problem. The room was emptied, scrubbed down with bleach and water and then bug bombed. Tools were cleaned, etc.. It should be ready soon for next crop.

So now we let them hang today and start to feel the tension of the twigs. I cant cut into individual branches yet, no place to hang them all. I will keep drying it as a one hoping that the wet manicure will assist in drying. My wife and I are debating if they should go straight to jars soon or if we want to try and do paper bags or racks or something. SUggestions welcome.

Well it took a while but here are the girls after all the treatment.

I miss that NL #5

Nice grow

Congrats on the harvest, looking good ! Have you smoked and sampled any yet ?

As for the drying process, I skipped the brown paper bags this time and moved them right into jars after 5-6 days. I guess a lot has to do with the humidity & temps of the area where you live. Mine have been in jars for exactly 2 weeks today, so I suppose that I don't have to pop the lids daily anymore.

i hung dried mine until they were really crispy, almost too dry BUT there was a lot of moisture in the stems still and that is the key....

after I dried them til the buds were crispy and stems still moist, I cut the nugs off the branches so there weren't any large branches or stalks visible only buds and the branches they had underneath them get it?

Then I put them in a paper bag a day or two and put them into jars where I opened them every day ONCE for 10 minutes or so and the moisture from the stems will go into the buds and cure perfectly. Making the nugs not crispy, but hard and like a candy coating from the hard THC.

BUT if you didn't flush them well, they won't cure very well and you'll probably have a hay taste/smell. When I flushed the shit out of my buds they were cured in a WEEK and ready to smoke soo dank. after two weeks the cure seemed better. after three the smell was starting to go away so I knew that I had cured/been opening the jars too long but it's ok cuz I smoked all my buds as they cured anyways.

Hope this helps, the curing process always screwed me but now I got it doown. PEACE GREAT PULL!

You guys are awesome, thanks for the advice. I did remember to flush the shit out of them this time and the smell is better from the get go. And I did the Sweet treatment before that. And watched the pH. Looks like it paid off.

They are hanging - temps are mild and humid maybe 50%. The curing is the part I need to improve, I at least got this batch looking good this far.

I did pull a few nugs early on. I found some last minute spider mites that just had shown up just a couple days before harvest. I caught the spider mites in time. And I pulled those buds all the way apart to find that the center was mush. So that whole top went into the trash. Not even worth trying to salvage, in the name of science I suppose. The buds under it looked fine, a couple of little critters but no real damage. So I really trimmed them up, looked one more time. No grey, no smell, no mush. No sign of critters. I just bagged them so they will be raspy but I should have an idea if it is going to do the trick for me.
So I will give it a go and report back.

The main stocks are still fairly pliable and the buds are moist and sticky so they will hang a bit more.

They are hanging in a dark hallway and I have a fan running to keep the air moving, not hitting the plants. I put a humidity block in there so I can really keep an eye on it. Usually in the desert the trick is too keep them from drying the first day, now I am in uncharted territory. I actually have humidty and the temperature range is more like most people have in spring like low 70s.

So I appreciate your help. I bought a couple cases of Mason jars and I have plenty of paper bags now so I can go either way.

Tell me if I thought this out. When you put them in the paper bags, you would want to keep like a single layer, not piled up right?

Now jars in the past, I have left a bunch of room in with the buds. I always rotated the jar and then popped for an hour and this went on and on for a couple of weeks. I am paranoid about fugus or rot. Am I too paranoid??

Again I thank you all so much. My first real attempt was ok. This batch actually is good I think.

So I will report back on the sample. Finish up my work by 4:20 hopefully.

Update. We tried it. My wife says the taste reminds her of the strain Grapefruit somewhat. I think the quick cure has left it a little raspy but I thought it had a pretty good taste for a one week cure. It was still somewhat moist, like cigar consistancy but would grind. So we did a proto. Then a couple of minutes later we did a volcano. Then I couldnt remember if we did the proto. Too make it short, my wife and I are very stoned. I think the vaporize taste is outstanding.

Please God of Pot dont let me screw up the curring.

Ok let me go off and see if this is me being over wishful over if I am really stoned as much as I think I am. I dont mean to sound all that ... Ya were stoned

No answers so I have been doing some into bags. Some into jars and some are still hanging. The samples have been good. Fine week for the humidity to go all over the place.

haha yea seems like your doing it fine. About a week and they should be cured enough to smoke

Ended up with 14 quart jars with air space. So a good amount. The different curing methods all ended up producing good but slightly different results. Lots of it is actually still curing in the jar but can grind and smoke. Some a little harsh still but getting the sweet taste now in much more.

Thanks for watching my grow. For your advice and support. See ya next grow
