High pressure with < 1 gph fog heads is fog. Mist is heavier. You want wet fog, not dry fog, as you get from ultrasonic foggers.

Also, ultrasonic fog hovers close to the soup. You have to blow down from above to get it to circulate throughout the root chamber.

UF is a case of puttng a band-aid on a shotgun wound.

Wow just found this thread, what an interesting story!

I'm moving and get to make a whole new setup. This DIY areoponics table it making it to list! Thanks for the inspiration, and instructions!
I am making 2 tables 30” by 30”
ALSO just wanted to note this post contains some of the highest quality DIY items! Right down to the bevel of the plexi glass. Nice! What did you use to cut like it that? Nice zip tie work as well!!!
I did have one question, I saw you had used just hydro mister nozzles, then micro sprinklers then a combo of both, does it really matter in the end?
I’d rather use the hydro nozzles.
I will have to post my pics once it’s done.

Thanks again!

no, i did when I was stoned, not lazy, just looking for quick answers so i dont have to read through all of that, dont have much hometime. since im already here again, i might as well ask if anyone is using airstones in their reservoirs cause to keep my roots dry between sprays for 20 secs, i need to have an offtime of about 20mins which i think leaves my res sitting motionless for too long.

I use an airstone in my res, but 'think' and aquarium water fall would be much better as it actually circulates the water, as well as filters out any large particles. Alas, the lip on my res does not permit the experiment unless I buy the large $50 unit.

More important is to get that on time under 4 seconds (one if you have a digital timer). I too am using an analog timer with the shortest on time being 28 seconds. I ordered a Sentinel MDT 1 to resolve this.

thanks for the response, I need to find one of those timers, ill incorporate airstones now, I use the waterfall effect but its only falling when the water is on of course so it doesnt really help me.

Just picked up my MDT-1 today. this thing is awesome, just short of being an evironmental controller, i've been able to eliminate alot of timers with this thing.

I am envious. Mine won't be here until Thurs-Friday.

Can it be set for < one second times, like .5, .25?

Re: Droplet Size

Re: Droplet Size

Think 'atomized' air. In order to provide the nutrients in the most bioavailable way to the root structures, ideally the droplets should be 10-50 microns. Can't be done with low pressure pumps.
Feeding times and frequencies are critical as well!

Think this is a step up from DWC though?

Sounds like a good point for sure. big price diffrence in high pressure systems though.

FYI I roast my own in a I Roast 2, I grind in a Solis Maestro Plus, and vacuum brew in a Yama. :smokey:

To answer your question, keep in mind I started with low pressure... assuming you follow my journal. you will soon see that the difference between DWC and TAG is night and day! :yoinks:

Awesome aero Pirate.
I'm new here but will post some pics soon of my homemade aeroponic room. Five weeks into flower now w/northern lights. Aloha

No it doesn't, you can set as low as 1 second but even then by the time the H20 makes it out of the sprayers it's equivalent to .25 seconds.

I think I got a pretty good deal @ $160 OTD from my local hydro

This is a fantastic thread! Thank you for the info and I am in the process of building one of these tables using a 2x4 Botanicare tray (and converting my 18gal DWC into the res EZ). Looking forward to seeing the results.

I found a place near me that has 1/4" HDPE (High-density polyethylene) sheeting for cheap, but they only have 3/16" ABS. The guy at the store didn't think there'd be anything wrong with the HDPE lid, and reading about the material specs for light and water I can't find anything wrong with it either. Is there any reason why I should not use HDPE for the lid of my Botanicare tray?

Thanks much!
