My family and ACE are safe, but many villages in southern Valencia have been devastated, almost like a tsunami. Over 200 people have lost their lives, and hundreds are still missing, with around 150,000 people affected by the floods.

Government response and prevention have been negligent. The official alert was issued only after the flooding had already begun, and it took the military 3-5 days to arrive and start helping. Thousands of citizen volunteers had to organize spontaneously, bringing water, food, and assistance for clearing water and mud. It has been a powerful lesson in citizens' solidarity versus government inefficiency. Yesterday, both our king and president visited the affected area, and they had to run away from the angry crowd.

Very sad days here.
Nice to see you and family are safe a sad time for sure :comfort:

Good to hear you guys are safe @dubi 🙏🏼

I was hesitant to post it here, but since it was brought up by someone "affected":

I have a hard time watching videos etc of high officials and royalty trying to placate the mood after the officials / politicians have neglected their sworn duty.

I feel like we've been acting like unruly teenagers for two centuries and now Gaia is starting to put her foot down.

To bad it seems like many of us (especially the ones in "power") still refuse to grow up and take responsibility for their actions...

And "moving out to live in a place of our own" isn't an option either...

El pueblo siempre suple los fallos del estado/gobierno/autonomia - pero a coste de propio bolsillo y esfuerzo. Its hard to know who to point at cause responsibility for both the prevention and final response is not quite clear to me. In any case there is a time for that later and it is both frustrating, heartwarming and not surprising to see who seem to lead here: the people themselves, man/woman/old from la misma tierra.
Spaniards say its the land of la pandereta which may be true in some regards but spaniards certainly knows more than playing the tamborine when the going gets tough. This is part of why i love Spain so much; its not about the flag/crown/moncloa thats for certain and i think most people in Spain from the outside feel the same: we love spain sometimes despite spain but always because of the spaniards, what ever they call themselves (catalan/castill@/andaluh'/vasco etc)

The reporting here this morning was only on the king and his umbrella nothing on sanchez. But the mess and feelings are clearly understood here. Fuerza animo

I am very sorry for what happened in Valencia, a prayer for all the people who did not make it and for those who are fighting against the mud and a big Fluck You to the King and the powerful of the Earth but sooner or later you will have to deal with Our Lord.

For all the smoke vendors, is not climate change, have nothing to do with that, STOP lying and selling your lies as the only truth, there is not one single truth, but there are tons of lies and liars.

For whoever that want to know the truth:
Since Roman times, the city of Valencia has witnessed numerous overflows of the Turia River. Over the centuries, the city has experienced expansion and has implemented various measures to defend itself against severe flooding.

In the records of the years from 1321 –the previous “Llibres de Consell” disappeared in a fire– until 1957, 25 episodes of floods have been recorded in Valencia, in the years 1321, 1328, 1340, 1358, 1406, 1427, 1475, 1517, 1540, 1581, 1589, 1590, 1610, 1651, 1672, 1731, 1776, 1783, 1845, 1860, 1864, 1870, 1897 and finally 1957.

These floods were not in Valencia town, it was in small villages outside. Iirc valencia had the river diverted in order to avoid floodings in town. The records you bring are kind of not related to these recent floods as its not the same place.

For info: im not taking any side in whatever issue people take with eachother, just putting this new flooding-information brought into proper context. Anyone whod like to have an argument can happily go on and have it without me :)

I'm from Spain, I lived 1 year in Valencia city, the phenomenon that produces this heavy rains, is called "Gota Fria" (cold drop), is a natural phenomenon.

The towns hard flooded these days are:
Alaquàs, Alaquàs, Albal, Albalat de la Ribera, Alborache, Alcàsser, L'Alcúdia, Aldaia, Alfafar, Alfarb, Algemesí, Alginet, Almussafes, Benetússer, Benifaió, Beniparrell, Benicull de Xúquer, Bétera, Bugarra, Buñol, Camporrobles, Carlet y Catadau. Catarroja, Caudete de las Fuentes, Corbera, Quart de Poblet, Cullera, Chera, Cheste, Xirivella, Chiva, Favara, Fortaleny, Fuenterrobles, Godelleta, Guadassuar, Llíria, Loriguilla , Llaurí, Llombai, Macastre, Manises, Massanassa, Mislata, Montserrat, Montroi, Paiporta, Paterna, Pedralba, Picanya, Picassent, Polinyà de Xúquer, Real and Requena. Riba-roja de Túria, Riola, Sedaví, Siete Aguas, Silla, Sinarcas, Sollana, Sot de Chera, Sueca and Tavernes de la Valldigna, Torrent, Turís, Utiel, València , Yátova, Benicull de Xúquer and Llocnou de la Corona.

Go to Google Map Valencia

Now, take the google map, and try the towns names.

Is the same area always, as it should be, sometimes because winds could affect more south, or west... but the same area. I give you data, facts, could you give me any fact that said other thing about Valencia floods?

Go ahead, I want to see one "I know it all, and old ppl just destroy the world" telling me WTF "gota fría" is.

Peace.

Just FYI, there are much more to it, not just the natural seasons phenomenons that can be more or less severe each year, is that we have data from year 1300 AD... and still no one did what is needed to be done, but this is a matter not for foreigners, nor people that don't know how real life works, where the big "wokeism" people that are already saving us from the end of the world from seven years ago (yeah man, don't you know it? We, in Spain, have a real "wokeism" government since 7 years ago, they even banned from buy cats or dogs), well, our nice super-duper-enviroment-friendly-nobynary-noman-norwoman didn't anything about the floods till 48 hours later... not even ring a bell... because the idiot that rule in Valencia state is not woke... YEAH, the generation and ideals that are going to save the word lets die hundreds people, so the non woke guy ruling Valencia gets fvcked and this make happy the "wokeism" people... so the first aid or emergency get in there 48 HOURS LATER!!! When the people that could survive just die alone in the mud with no one looking for them (first fireman there was a French one, the video where he is informed that he is the first one, so he is the boss... the French man is speechless). Police people out of service gets there on their own, but they get fast banned, or they will be kicked out of Police, soldiers... same luck.

Yeah spanish people are almost alone giving back Valencia to normal as they can, but not just because they are nice people, but because we are ALONE, wokeism people only are good at talking about "second hand dreams", if you want to see what happens when useless people take the lead, take a look:

Dude seems like you have a bone to grind with someone, but it aint me. No mention from me about climate change.
I only replied cause you referred to floods in Valencia city, this one wasnt one and i hate sloppy references. Liked your reply cause you actually brought some detail, i respect that. But you seem real mad at someone, why dont you go and be mad at them? I havent mentioned climate change or any trans issues. Look thru my replies. Only sympathy for spanish people, just like you. If you got issues with someone go bring them up with that person, it aint me. Buenas noches

Sorry @Rocket Soul, I dind't mean about you, as I said at first "For all the smoke vendors", there are people here saying that what happens in Valencia is because people use diesel cars and all the trash that everyone knows by now, and yes I'm edgy as at least half of my country is.

Read my signature, I don't care about political colors, I never did, all are shit, snake poison vendors, but I get mad with people that say "This is the truth", OK, but where are the data, facts backing you? You haven't, you just say it because you are more sheep than human, that's all, if your leaders say... you jump like a dog.

Sorry, @Rocket Soul, I beg your pardon man.

Peace.

Climate change has a lot to do with it, since there have never been "cold drops" aka DANAs so intense, repeated, devastating, and lethal. The north pole has never been less cold, and the circular air current that maintains that cold at the pole has never had so little strength; to the point that more and larger pockets of cold air are "dropped" than ever before, than when reaching our latitudes (more warmer than ever, with more and more repeated, intense and extended episodes of Saharan haze) and finding a Mediterranean warmer than ever (in the Gulf of Valencia, one of the warmest areas of this sea, it looks like the Caribbean), making the "cold drops" are much more explosive, intense, long-lasting, and repeated.

Postscript:
I don't know about cats, but in Spain dogs are bought with complete normality, and with a large quantity and variety of selling kennels (some, among the best in the world of their breed).
...What has been prohibited is that any "juntaperros" breed puppies indiscriminately and without veterinary standards, take them from the mother (fucking imprinting and basic maternal education) after a few weeks to display them in the window of a store, sell them to the first one who arrive (who usually knows the same thing about dogs as he does about climate change as he does about catching frogs in the dark: nothing), and fill the world with dogs without imprint, and further increase the number of almost 200,000 annual dogs' abandonments.

To all my bros and peeps lets remember this is a thread in the vendor section of Ace seeds, im not sure if this is where we should have conflicting arguments, @dubi and ace are safe and sound which i think was the main point in making this thread, growers worried about him and the seed bank. Im sure there are places to have this discussion but i suggest wed let dubi decide what he wants in his section. Lets not forget that the sponsors are what keeps the light on in this forum; if dubi wants climate change and politics in his section then im all for it but let him at least ok it. Theres enough arguing in Spain as it is to bring it here. Much love to all growers, peace ❤️

In my case, I am only exposing and commenting on scientific or historical facts: the fact that politicians use and politicize the Law of Gravity does not convert my statement that "if we fall from so high it will hurt us a lot," into politics.
And I am going to expose more verifiable historical facts to confront them with certain statements that are not only false in my opinion, but actually politicized to the point of absurdity:

1-) The already mentioned about the good dogs that can be bought in Spain (and if you want, I recommend seller affixes).

2-) Climate change, and the example used about diesel fuel, have a lot to do with the escalation in intensity and number of climate disasters. So much so, that the two Spanish petrochemical refining companies, REPSOL and CEPSA, recognize this fact in their company policy (can be consulted on the internet), and are investing in converting their industrial plants towards biodiesel.

3-) In my autonomous community, where there were finally 7 deaths, the Army acted from the first moment: news can be consulted :

29-October ;
More than 150 troops for a town of 900 inhabitants (Letur, Albacete province, southeast of Castilla-La Mancha autonomous community):
1731312221309.png

30-October ;
Two new drones are incorporated, the world-renowned dogs & human guides specialized in the search and rescue of people from the Army Cynology Center, the GEAS (Special Underwater Activities Group), and a command of Green Berets, more...only for the same 930 inhabitants' town (The Minister of Defense offered any means at her disposal; the Autonomous Government considered the help more than enough, and even more so when it saw how much it was going to be needed in the neighboring autonomous community of Valencia...):

1-November ;
In the same little town (930 population); more Civil Guards & hellicopters, and Civil Protection organizing the volunteers ; After manual cleaning and clearing, heavy machinery begins to be able to access where the Search & Rescue Dogs In Collapsed Areas have declared the area "clean"; and the Underwater Search and Rescue's Dogs and the GEAS, continue to work overtime, everybody looking for 5 missing persons.

If the Government of the Autonomous Community of Valencia, unlike mine, does not consider it necessary to accept this type of aid from the beginning, it is yes a political issue, and therefore I will not go into it.

4-) There were projects (presented by political forces other than the one that governs the Autonomous Community of Valencia) to adapt the ravines that have caused so much death and destruction when they overflow, to the reality of the increasingly repeated and intense floods due to cold drop. Why the Government of Valencia has ignored these projects presented by other political forces, and has preferred to repeal the previous Coastal Law in order to continue building on the coastline... I don't know if it is also a political question, or only economic question (simple private profit motive) disguised as politics.

Nueva pregunta : ¿Coincidencia?

This thread is completely disrespectful to the victims, families and friends, that have been touched by this disaster. I tried to keep quiet but it's really hard for me to understand what's the purpose or benefit of having this thread in an international cannabis forum.

If you have friends or aquaintances that you are worried about, you can do like the rest of us who have spent most of our lives in Valencia, and ask them personally if they're ok, via PM, whatsapp, email, or phone. Or visit them and go help them.

But other than the thread being in such poor taste, using other people's deaths to spread political propaganda is really stepping over the line in my opinion. I don't think anyone in an international weed forum cares about your personal political opinion. I personally don't appreciate this at all. I lived in Valencia for 18 years. I have several friends who have lost everything, and one of them whose 17 year old son is still missing. I think these last few posts especially, are frivolous, out of line and plain disrispectful. Learn to read the room. This is not about any of you or any of your political views. Let people grieve in peace.

I would like to ask the moderators if they would please consider closing this thread @wh1p3dm34t. I think the direction the thread is going is not good, not productive, and not condusive to bettering the situation in any way.
