Stoner's Spring '06

It's funny how little things can effect plants...checking them in the dark, street lights etc...glad you got it figured out...stay safe..

Clone Stranger used to tell us, start small and scale up. I was concerned about outgrowing my nursery space with plants. I can handle a maximum of 4x8" and 4x6" planters through April. After that, they can have all the space then need outdoors.

Looked at my space again, I could also handle 2x8" and 8x6" planters.

When the flowering plants are done, I will trim them back into 6" planters for regeneation. That leaves 1x8" for the female LUI, 1x8" for the White Widow and 6 more 6" spaces.

I think it's time to start a few more seeds. Next up is Derailed Blues and the first of my LUI f2 generation. This is the single mature seed from the test bud.

Great to see alot of recognizable names here. Looks like will have to make camp here for awhile. Good lick with your grow Stoner. I like your style..you spring harvesters don't want to without your bud for good times in the summer.

thanks for the kinda words ND and Stoner :)

ill give you some of this nice weathers im having down here in the midwest, 25 degrees at night and can get to the mid 40s in the day time which means i can actually start to harden off my plants during the nice weather when there is actually sun to be seen and isnt raining or cloudy :D

march 1st thru 10th comes ill harden off my plants then leave them outside probably unless it gets to cold during days then i guess to the closet they come back in, but im hopeing it will stay nice so i can start to veg my summer plants and stuff

Good thing you can keep a warm option open. Early March is still well within the frost danger window for the mid West.

Thanks for your good wishes Shortermemory. I am sure looking forward to bringing in some stash for the Summer.

hey stoner, have you tried flowering in spring before? not questioning your logic but my inexperience makes me think theyre not going to be fooled due to the small increases in daylight hours from day to day..

im planning on doing the same because, starting from seed, it would give me a chance to sex and get some cuttings going. (for some reason i like to think they root better when taken in the first few days of flower).. and also for some smoke for the summer :)

i also have a small area (4-5 decent sized pots maybe) on a balcony that i can lower some plastic roller shutters in front of to keep the days short. im about 37 degrees north so i may have to limit the photoperiod a little earlier than May.

anyway.. for the fear of sounding insensitively upbeat, hope you all have a good season

It was Wolfshadow that got me thinking about this, I first tried it in '04 and again in '05.

Growers in mild climates, below 40N get the best combination of warm temperatures in time to actually set plants outside. Growers below 30N have the special considerations that come with the tropics, but that is where Wolfshadow shines. ;)

I am located near 50N in a zone 3 climate. Freezing nights are still common well into Spring, so I depend on a green house and heated shed to make this work.

The key is the 61 day flowering period between March 1 and May 1. Plants are sensitive to the changing season, but they have a delayed response of about two weeks.

At some point in late April to early May, the number of hours of night becomes too short to continue flowering. The actual point depends on your latitude. Between 50N and 30N, there is about a three week difference.

The first harvest will be taken in early May. The plants will be left to regenerate and grow through the Summer.

Hash Plant flowered during Spring '04.

This is Voyager, a White Widow cross, also flowered during Spring '04.

Hey Stoner,

Good to see your new home, looks all nice and cozy, and you've had lots of guests. Hi everyone.

So, did you get an early smoke report on that LUI, last I saw on OG you were about to give it an early test run... and inquiring minds want to know. :bigeye:

Hey SouthernLady, Still no smoke report on the LUI. They are in the final stages of seed maturity. If they pass inspection on Thursday, I will proceed with cutting and drying.

Once they are dry enough from hanging, I will be ready to check them out. :D

36 hour inspection, 3/5 Derailed Blues have germinated. Nothing yet on the LUI f2.

Glad to see some old faces or rather names....:friends:

thanks for taking the time to show me that. ill work on a spring deadline on early/mid May although it is still possible for me to move plants in and out of a dark room/shed every day.

the inspiration shots were much appreciated too!
positively glowing! (see, i can make a funny too)

im very poorly prepared for this season (ill just blame it on living in a backwater town in Turkey and having a variety of other 'troubles' that took priority.. hey, theres more to life than growing weed..i tell myself) but im looking forward to following yours.

p.s. anyone seen reibsi about yet?

I hope that helps, Ankara is near 40N so you will be seeing lots of Sun in the sky for Sprng time.

River brought in some fine Spring season plants in the green house last year. New digs this season, looking forward to sharing the experience.

I hear rumours of a tub party in the indoor forums, must check that out.

Bunch of Stoners. Do it once and it's special, do it a second time and it becomes an annual event.

For clairity, it is not a contest. That implies a winner and loosers.

It is a comparison grow, we are all winners. Some, more-so then the others. ;)

When 'dude and I started this fun, we needed a suitable challenging strain to show our stuff. We landed the Derailed Blues cross (Trainwreck x Blue Mystic f2) and the traditon has taken root.

Don't worry CS, in a week they will be nearly identical to mine. I figure to leave you all in the dust come September...
