Thank you, they are doing well in the Sunlight.

My plans are in a state of flux. I have several options, none of them ideal but either could work.

These plants could be trimmed for cuttings or just a few cuttings before I force them to flower in anticipation of finishing for late June. The cuttings will be grown through the Summer and these plants may see three crops in a full season.

Or, I could cut them back into a hundred clones and each of those could be grown through the Summer, but I wouldn't have any fresh bud for the Summer.

Or, I could do both, I have two sets of plants and regenerations. Managing the dual photoperiods for a few more weeks is possible, particularly now that April has brought milder weather. The native plants and grasses are still dormant, but my cultivated plants are beginning to bud. I will have fresh camouflage in a week. :D

Grafting is a way of life in the tree fruit industry. The Mcintosh apple has survived the original tree through decades of grafting.

I have read about grafting Cannabis and Hops. There structures are similar enough to make it possible, but the results are useless.

If you graft a Hop scion to Cannabis , you get a poor Hop aerial structure. Might be useful for advertising your beer, but with out the tricromes, useless.

If you graft a Cannabis scion to a Hop, you get a very recognisable Cannabis plant complete with the tricromes.

If you graft two or more Cannabis cuttings to a single root, you get a bushy plant, perhaps two or more stains on a single root.

Humm... A medical option plant could be created by grafting several different stains into a single plant. :woohoo:

I like the idea of grafting several strains to a single root!

I have considered grafting two different strains and sexes to one root, for a guerilla seed project.

A "do nothing" seed project!

That would help the folks out who were only allowed a couple plants to grow...they could perhaps get all their medicine that way...stay safe..

stoners been kind of quiet the past few days....are you sneaking in more seeds without telling us? :chin:

And in case you're wondering the scientific name of my favorite Illinois mammal

Striped Skunk Scientific name Mephitis mephitis

enjoy, Cappy Mephiti

All is quiet on the Western front.

Plants are looking fine, another week and I will begin flowering for the Spring.

As it happens, some very exciting seeds are making their way to me. Lots to look forward too when I start my Summer seeds in mid June.

A few years back, I scouted out a beautiful new meadow site, I called it The Skunk Farm. Turns out, that meadow was actually a pasture and instead of Skunks guarding my plants I got Cattle. One one of my better choices, worst part was my partner had spotted the rotting old cow patties from the previous season and she was right. Cattle and Cannabis don't mix.

The LUI basking in the overcast.

One plant is showing a little purple, not unusual in cool weather conditions.

Check out the nine leaves on this node. I am hoping for a Train Wreck like phenotype.

hey again fellas

Stoner looks like ur plants are comin' in very very nicely.. who da thought!?!? :) bottom left corner of last pic, that plant is a beast, i shudder to think about what it will become

I'm gonna take a trip to va and start on some holes to put my babies in. Is it better to dig an even square sized hole (symmetrical hole), for your transplant, or is it better to go deep and narrow or would it be better to go shallow and wide. I was thinking the latter b/c if root mass mirrors tree mass and ur training ur plant, then you would have a very bushy plant = very bushy mj root but not so deep into the soil, no?

any comments on this would be nice

hey stoner looking good

i see you have all your plants in plastic tubs... do you have lids to go on top to act as a kind of greenhouse or are you just using the tubs for ease of transportation?

just asking because here in turkey the sun has already been getting really hot and humidity is next to nothing so ive had to make a small greenhouse by putting the plants in a plastic tub and putting another tub over the top.

i had to resort to that because back in mid march they were getting a little burn and growth had come almost to a complete stop. its all back on the go now but they are still pretty small

i have a couple of seeds on the go but im planning on planting a few more so that i can stagger a forceflower throughout summer.

dont know whether you remember that little 'miracle' i found earlier this year but its turned out to be another of the little dwarf turks i grew out last year. in the pic above you can see how it is only a little bigger that the unknown seedling.

there you might be able to see what little growth it has seen. bad picture though as it was taken towards the sea/sun. really overcast today so i brought the turk out to harden it off slightly. that stretched seedling is in need of a transplant so ill need to get the turk back out again to find the room in my 'greenhouse'.

stoner your tubs are looking very lush! Your DB's look much fuller than mine, but I'm at the end of a stretching period, as I just sexed them.

I look forward to seeing the colors put out by the LUI come fall!

enjoy

Thank you, compliments are always appreciated. That hardy little plant is my LUI f2 generation.

When your digging a hole with a shovel, it will automatically get wider as you go deeper. In practice you will get a cone shaped hole. Go for a couple shovel depths, 12-18" at least.

You want to provided the same volume as a 5 gallon pail. That gives them then a good depth to surface area.

I am using tubs for ease of handling. I have to be able to move/ditch the plants on a moments notice.

Good idea using the semi clear plastic for a cover.

Plants get all the light they need through overcast, nice to have the Sea nearby too.

They are taking a 10 hour night without showing their sex. I would prefer to wait a while before forcing them, I want the hormones to have a female bias when the tempetures warm up.

All but two of my DB's showed pre-flowers under 24/0 at 45 days. The last two didn't show until 10 days later. one male, one female for the late bloomers.

I was surprised because I would have bet they were both going to be males judging by the plant structure and my future predicting, magic 8 ball :D

At this point, I have enough females around to clone, should too many males start popping up thier heads.

I think I can safely start planting outdoors in another week here. I will wait two to be sure...

I will be relieved when the garage and the cabinets are empty. The period following will be devoted to cracking more new strains and flowering a couple indoors.

hmm well a 5 gal pot is approx 1x1x1, and i heard that ideally you need 1.5 gal of medium for every 1' of growth, in practice though it seems a gal is plenty for a foot of growth, so do you think a 1x1x1 would support a 5' plant w/o pushing it? I'd like to hear your insights on how much medium u like to provide ur plants with considering their height.

I see what you mean about holes are shaped like cones, but i always make them cylinders by mainly diggin on the holws edges with the pointy shovel scraping the lower walls of my hole

Lets see some more pics of the DB and the LUI, i think mb next year i need to get me some of thoes type genetics

They are doing fine. I move them outside around 10:00 AM, earlier if it didn't freeze the previous night. They are moved back into the heated shed at 8:00 PM. That gives them 12+ hours of dark for flowering.

Sixty Five days from now is June 21, the Summer solstice and my target for harvesting the Spring crop.
