Hello everyone
I'm back for another year, but all going well, I should continue to grow in the swamp area I've been growing in every year, and I'll just keep posting in this thread in future seasons to keep things simple.
I got around 3/4lb from last years efforts all combined, which was way, way more than what I've pulled in the past, due to a new strategy of older, fewer plants, with large mounds. That was from 5 plants, but mold was a bit of an issue and I had to pull the largest earlier than I would have liked.
The area is a little clearing in a large, thorny swamp/wetland. The light isn't great, but it's enough to grow some pretty decent buds. The insect life is unbearable in the summer, you get eaten alive even with bug spray. There's very dense brush to get through around the plot as well.
This year I started 3 plants a bit later than I had planned, as last year I had them around 2 months old before transferring outside. This time they will only be maybe little older than a month, but still pretty well established. They are on a light schedule matched to the outside light hours. The box is a little cramped, and I only managed to get ~60 watts of lights in there, but it proved sufficient for their veg period so far. The only issue was that the timer was shut off and they were left in darkness for 4 days That was some weeks ago and despite a little stretching and yellowing, they've fully recovered and are a deeper green again. This hopefully won't impact the final output too much, even with loosing a week or two's worth of growth.
The plants are 1 fem. Frisian Dew, 1 fem. Green Crack, and 1 Brainstorm x Bagseed that is from the only seed that came out of my breeding efforts last year It appears to be a female by the growth displayed, but has yet to show preflowers yet. The brainstorm was massive and some nice smoke, so hopefully that one turns out well. It is around the same size as the GC, just slightly more stocky.
For the soil mix I used tilled soil from last year, as the roots from the last season are still there, or local plants have grown roots into it. I also added in composted horse manure (worm city ), some Pro-Mix BX, and a little chicken shit for good measure. The final texture of the soil was pretty nice.
The Frisian is the largest of the 3 and was just put outside, as she hit the top of my small indoor grow area. She's maybe 2ft tall now, a little stretched, but should adapt well. She's in the biggest mound. Not sure exactly how much soil she's in, I would say at least 100 gal I would think from all the 5 gallon buckets I took to it. The mounds for the other two are maybe around 50 gal.
Here is the Frisian Dew in her new home, with lots of root space for her to grow out into.
Saw some nice thick, white roots on her while transplanting. She's in a chicken wire cage for protection until she becomes larger and less attractive to hungry animals. This is also the mound I had the Brainstorm in last year, combined with another mound that was near by.
That's all for now. Looks like, despite some setbacks, it could be a good year. Thanks for stopping by my thread, good luck to everyone this year
