Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving at our house has always been about family. 1pm on Thanksgiving folks from all over the country trickle into Moms place. Before that it was Grandma's place. Grandma made it until 2017, without any illness whatsoever, and a ripe old age of 100.

Once Grandma passed some of the family hasn't been back and the crowd slims down every year.

I'm grateful to see the folks we only get to see once a year and the memories of the big holidays at the Grandparents. Back when no one missed 1pm. Back when everyone still spoke to each other lol.

Today we will assemble with whoever makes it. My Wife and Mother are cooking up a storm and I'm looking forward to playing with the little ones.

Happy Thanksgiving y'all! I hope you all have some fun today, make some memories with loved ones and get fat for a day!

Will be heading across the river and through the woods to my brothers place for some bird and of course Lions football.
Gotta get everything watered first and check on the hanging ladies, make sure the temp and humidity look good.

family get-togethers before my grandparents passing saw over 30 folks from 3 states. they WERE the glue, the common thread that held us all together. Thanksgiving saw all of the men, boys, and every danged beagle we could buy, beg, borrow, or steal on a wabbit hunt. i would give anything to relive those times again.

nothing shows you more about people than sharing an inheritance with them... "the ties that bind" evaporate like gasoline poured out on hot blacktop when money is involved for many people. it saves $$$ not having to buy Christmas presents for greedy assholes...

A lot of us have the same story about the decline of family, it's sad but obviously pretty common. I also remember when the grandparents were alive and the crowded house on the holidays that has long gone.
