Dang it, I just saw one (yep one on the shelf) of these at Walmart yesterday when I was picking up a new oscillating fan. I wish I had read this thread before! I might swing by and get it today.

EDIT: snatched it up for $39. Ill start messing with it this weekend I think.
I think You will like the Stanley. They are not an 8" vortex but for lite to mid duty they are worth the $$ spent.
Also ,surley someboby has done the "oneside draw" mod !

Yeah me too. I need more light cooling and this might be the ticket. The cheap 4" inlines arent doing the trick for the warmer weather. We'll see!

im glad you guys have made some revisons on this fan. its seriously the best fan for the money. i used only duct tape on mine, and kinda jerry rigged it, and its pretty much all coming undone, so next grow 'm gonna drill that shit out, and silicone the adapters on.

What number do you guys leaves yours at? I run it in a apartment but I have never been able to run on 1. Always need 2 or 3. And i have no carbon filter either, no restriction.

But what do you run it on with the one side mod? Moves more air right?

Marley1 ,We will need some input from Dopest on whether the one side draw moves more air or not. I'm curious as well. Lots of variables involved.

IMHO, the fan is much more versatile drawing from just one side. You don't have to box it in & still have easy access to the switch.
Dopest, Thanks or the leg work!

not a problem man, i live for this type shtuff. here is the latest side mod stanley pullin through 35lbs of carbon in a 2" bed, it then exhausts through a 6" duct and cool tube then another duct to the exhaust vent. then fan runs on med with a 400w atm and temps only rise 4deg from ambient.

the fan/filter is hangin from the ceiling with bungee cords and the upstairs neighbor is clueless. :sasmokin:

:woohoo: :woohoo:
Got my blower all modded up and ready for install when the lights cut on in a couple hours. Its so ghetto fabulous with all the duct tape but I bet itll work loads better than the little 80cfm inlines I am using right now.
Great work guys!

PS - Im not bothering with pics since it looks the same as yalls :joint:

58 the whole time? Yeah definitely bad. If you mean night time temps its pretty low but it likely wont kill your plants. A space heater works well for raising room temps and let the lights warm the room during lights on. You can also run daytime darkness to keep room temps up.

Not sure what this has to do with the blower mod tho?

Thank you for answering my question.

The low temps are only with lights off. It's 75F when lights are on.

I searched for an hour looking for a low temp thread, and since I use a StanleyBlower I thought what the hay.

I have some purple strains going and thats why I wanted the low temps.

Thanks again.

 Beev, be sure to keep an eye on humidity too. you dont want high humidity, especially with low temps.

Here's mine hooked up to my 600w digi w/ Cooltube. Its definitely an improvement and allowed me to free up my 80cfm inlines for general ventilation uses.

Dopest, What are your thoughts on taking out the receptacles , moving the 3speed switch and opening up that side? Think it would increase the cfm's ?

if you do the single side mod like pictured, it would defeat the purpose. besides i havent ran into a cfm problem yet with either setup. idk, if anyone has a problem with cfms post up but i think the fan is a beast!

Thanks dopest, I guess it wouldn't be practicle. Just curious if opening up that end would increase the fan's output.

Does anyone know approximately what the stanley does in CFM?

I want to run the numbers just to be sure.

EDIT:

The Dopest:

Does your setup use another fan further downstream from the stanley or is the stanley the only fan in the setup?

Low: 1,282 cfm
Medium: 1,746 cfm
High: 2,181 cfm.

Those numbers are with NO resistance on the intake side tho...I'm sure it's drastically lower with ducting and stuff hooked up to it. It probably pushes the equivalent of a 265 dayton tho...

yeah probably MTF....mines on a 400w right now and only needs to be on medium, at highest setting plants (from neglect) got within 3" of glass and never burned!

edit, cuz looked more at the last few pages....I use aluminum foil tape for anything duct/air related cuz duct tape falls apart from temp extremes, or whatever....I put foil tape on the vent/extra intake side and think that is partly why it runs so well, was worried it might overheat also but nope. Hanging from bungees helps to make things quieter. It's quieter than a dayton, the lowest setting is almost inaudable. Some foam around the fan itself and a duct muffler, smooth duct would make all settings super quiet, but i don't mind right now.

man i'm glad i came across this thread. i was just wondering about the stanley blowers. i recon this thread just saved me a bit of moola. i'm gonna hook one up to a carbon scrubber and cool 2 400w lights.
