Hey man I'm in the process of cutting my own washers out of a sheet of 3/16" thick Neoprene at 50A durometer that I ordered. It's really not turning out the way I hoped though and now I'm stressing about constructing a functioning system that doesn't leak everywhere. Do you think I can have success manually cutting these things out? I know that my inner diameter definitely can't be too big and my outer can't be too small so I'm kind of using that as a guide. They don't look awful but not that good. Short of having them manufactured, you think my best bet will be to just take my time cutting these to as close to the proper dimensions as possible? I called that store in my area which had part #420 at one point but no luck there.

This is a quote taken from somewhere in this thread:

Sorry i hadnt gotten back to you sooner. I dont have a part number from them but i can tell you exactly whats on the invoice.

Washer 3/16" thickness x 1-7/8"IDx2-1/4"OD Neoprene, BLack 60-70durometer Quantity 250 Price 25.00
UPS Shipping $11.72
Total Due: $36.72

Its reliantrubberco.com. They respond fast and answer the phone when you call.

Overall as a customer id give them a 10/10 no problems whatsoever and price is fantastic.

Id ask about 50 durometer though. I forgot to mention that so i got 60s and they are a little on the hard side. I really had to tighten the nuts with channel locks to prevent leaks. 60s did work fine though after being tightened.

I don't know how you are going to cut your own washers. I would have never gone that route. Try the company that this guy talks about and see if they have those washers. Let us know.

If your desperate

Home Depot sells 40mil shower backer pvc sheet. It's pliable and makes good washer/ gaskets. As far as spacers go idk.

That's great thank you for showing me that. I actually remember reading that now. I sent them an email and will also call them in the morning, as they didn't pick up my call just now. I'll let you know about it when I hear back from them

They ship out on Wednesday! Good stuff directing me to that site. Very clutch. I am virtually ready to go now. Today is day 3 in the EZ clone so tonight I will check the progress of the clones. Conditions have remained favorable with water temp remaining around 75F with two heat mats underneath and ambient temperature ranging from 75-78F.

Still waiting for my tray lid to arrive but should be here by end of the week. If all goes well I'll be starting at the beginning of next week with Veg A

Hey guys I too am going to attempt making my own washers. Ive had the idea stuck in my head since working on my cloner, where I took a 2 inch piece of metal pipe sharpened around one end, and used a big vice and a bock of hardwood to punch perfect clone inserts out of foam knee mats.

All i need is to punch about a 1 7/8" ID hole to fit snuggly around the threads of the adapter, and simply cut the OD to whatever size right?

BTW I just finished reading the thread and currently building two 6 bucket systems, on a slightly smaller scale and using 3.5 gallon buckets. Snype, I know you advise against it but will the black HD ones work? I noticed the are pretty tapered near the bottom.. Wondering if anyone has used these!

^ you should call that place Snype mentioned. Got mine for 25 cents each and I'm sure if you bought the rubber and made them they would cost just as much.

That's dope that company has the washers! Let us know how they work and then I can update the first page with that link.

Will do. 72 hours and no root nubs. Everything is still looking good so I think I'll give it a few days before I check again.

It'll take you lots of practice to see root nubs at 72 hours. You should see root nubs by day 9 if everything is right.

This thread started out nice and has now turned into the "Long Lost Bro, Let's Make Some Washers" thread. Because nobody has heard of Grainger, McMaster Carr, or MetroGasket.

Plenty of other threads to see here if you're board. The majority of information in the thread is contained in the first 3 pages.

Your humidity is too low. Nutes may also be too high but your 24 hour data should tell you. 650 PPM for little seedlings seems very high. Seedlings barely need anything. You're not giving us many variables to work with. Starting from seed and starting from clone are very different when it comes to how much nutes to use. Clones can take more than seeds. How heavy you feed will also have a lot to do with how intense the light is. My full grown plants never get more than 1100 PPM and you are using more than half of that for little tiny seedlings. It may be stressful to those new delicate roots. Why not start them around 300 PPM and see what you're 24 hour data says before and after top off? Also, there's a reason why I use a VEG-A Hanging E&F system before they go into RDWC.

Maybe check your pH unit to assure it's calibrated properly... Sometimes the simplest answer is the one just trying to help. Definitely fits the situation you described. Unless you mean rolling up like a taco in that case possibly Cal mag deficiency... Need a visual really

@ the doktor--I tried McMaster Carr weeks ago and the price was way out of my range. Never heard of someone getting so worked up about others not knowing about random online rubber stores. Seems you need to relax a little, maybe smoke some chemDD or something. It usually does the job for me.

A little sarcastic humor seems to be lost on you. Nobody is getting worked up about it but you pal. I happened to enjoy this thread until it got derailed into a washer thread. Try a little Google and it will help you find lots of things including rubber washers from all over the world. It's good shit.
