ooooo looks good! i need to wire up a CFL setup like yours.... im using 4 CFLs myself but i need more!!! im a build it geek and wiring is fun! <--- iv been shocked way too many times lol

but besides the fact its lookin good. i cant wait to see the stretching once you put em in the sunlight :p

If you can, take a picture RIGHT b4 you put them outside then take a picture every day to follow the progression of insde to outside lighting. If not its totaly cool, but im making alittle grow spreadsheet with a whole bunch of statistics and whatnot.

PEACE! thanks again

yeah, chops, I'm more inclined to FIM them than anything. After that post I was thinking about topping a few, but fimming a bunch of them. Some plants don't respond well to it tho, so I want to do a little research first.

and nephrosis, thanks man. I can post a photo of the light setup if you'd like to see what I did. the whole thing cost $40 and took literally 10-15min to put together, and I haven't touched it since.

there's no way on earth I can take a photo more than once a week, and with the remaining plants probably no more than once every 2 - 3 weeks once they go outside. sorry. I work a lot.

i wouldnt FIM the taller ones because they could turn out top heavy, a strong wind/storm or heavy buds could lead to them falling over. the taller ones would be best branching from lower on the plants.

TOTALY agree with this, i FIM the top of my male on one of the 2 outside and the wind ended up snapping one of the males in half... good thing that my other male is strong but i had to keep rotating the plant in cirlcles cause the wind was only coming from one side...

But yea, i honestly didnt even know what FIM was till you mentioned it...

BUT yea, if you can take atleast 1 picture a week that would be sick

I would wholeheartedly agree, especially for the rocklock. But I've grown plenty of chocolope before, and I know her growth pattern. She's gonna branch like crazy as soon as I get her outside, with lots of the branches exceeding the top cola in height. I don't think I'll be topping her. I've grown 1 rocklock outdoors before. Incidentally it had been topped before I ever thought about putting it outside, and it did really, really well that way. I put it out in October and got 2 -3 oz from it with no ferts whatsoever, in regular ground dirt (very warm climate, there was no frost that year).
I'll most likely top all my rocklocks in the next month or two, before they start flowering.
The others I'm not so sure. If anyone has any experience topping any of the strains I've mentioned, please speak up (NYCD, Exodus cheese, super bud, green bud, critical mass 33, lemon skunk, the dr., etc).
I know it's best not to top the church, from what I recall, but they were all stunted anyway, at least the ones that didn't die on me.

And nephrosis, I might not be your guy this season. I'm really planning very few trips to the plants, and even fewer with my camera. I'll take as many as I can for you tho.

I've been wanting to show my DIY lights, and I had a PM asking about them so here it is, simple, cheap setup. It cost about $40 for everything including wires and electrical tape, and most of that was for the bulbs. The reflector is two pieces of cardboard taped together with masking tape with white printer paper spray-adhesed to the bottom for some reflectivity.

I used a standard light socket from lowes with two 'wings' sort of like a sheetrock mounter that you'd use to mount something in the wall if you can't find a stud. I put that on top of the cardboard and screwed in a Y splitter from the bottom to hold it all in place. Then I attached two more Y splitters and plugged my lights in there. The whole process took about 10 min.

You can see in this photo that I cut off some of the packaging from the lights to reinforce the cardboard where the wings are holding the weight. I haven't had any problems doing it this way.

Chops, you'll recognize those bottles of pH down and ChaChing, as well as that piece ;)
thanks guy

Here's from the underside. I used some copper wire to distribute the weight and tied it up with some regular string (I think it was some string I cut off the blinds when we first moved in).

iv had some cheap setups ......cardboard boxes..... but when i see this it reminds me of how much certain people would flip out over a setup like this or what i had at times.
for saftey reasons.

They'd be a fool to flip over this. It's solid, trust me. I know what's safe and what's not. I wouldn't add any more lights to this chain - and I've had an electrician check me out on a similar setup a few years back, he said I was fine.
Besides, it's only temporary. If I was going to use it longer than 3 months or so, or if I were going to flower under it I'd spend a little more than 'as-cheap-as-fucking-possible'. If you're worried about this you should've seen the last one I built ;)

Not really an update since I just posted photos two days ago, but I went to my autos last night to give them one final feeding of cha ching before I let them flush for two weeks or so, and I snapped a few photos while I was there.

I had never grown autos before, this has been really fun! I'm gonna have to do this more often!

Here's the runt that was attacked early on but left alive.

Question: do you guys prefer photos in the post, or just as attachments? I like to comment on individual photos sometimes, so I attach them all in the post for consistency. But I'd like to hear some opinions.

If you are updating just photos leave em as attachments, if you comment em or point out to something as pest/disease/problem wise you should post just photos.Simple, easy and systematic.Just my 2 cents. Happy growin man! :D

Update time!!!
Autos are doing great, finishing right on schedule. The largest looks much more sativa-dominant and not nearly as mature, I may let her go to 100 days or so, we'll see.

The other plot nearby is doing pretty incredibly as well. The rocklock there is already at 4ft tall.

I fimmed her and the lanky chocolope to her left while I was out.

This is my biggest concern at the moment. This one's flying high, but I've seen them practically land in the field next to my plot.

Sometime during the week I'll get out and check my other plot, I've got blackberries I need to pick there. I'm doing some planting this morning and again during the week. I'm going on vacation next week so I absolutely have to have them all out by the end of this coming weekend. I have 7 to plant today, then my 6 largest ones to plant in my last spot over the course of the week.

I have a very close and trustworthy friend coming up for the summer, so I may have a little help getting water to the plants if need be.

I usually only smoke at night now, and then I use my vaporizer. So half of that auto yield ought to last me until the end of the year ;)

Ya, those autos are damn chunky. Was the cha ching the only non soil provided nutes you gave them? You should throw another round in those holes when you pull em. cheers

I grew auto ak47 outdoors and I can tell you that they do not finish in 70 days like said. I think that is more accurate for the indoor crop, but not the outdoor. I had all clear trichomes at the 75 day mark. I let mine go about 105 days and had about 80% cloudy and 20% amber. They do pack on more weight, so please be patient with these. Just thought I would offer you some friendly advice. Nice grow!!

I was planning to pull them at about 85 days, at least the faster-finishing phenos. I may wait longer on your advice, thanks.

and wildgrow: yes, cha ching was the only chemical fert I gave them, everything else was subcool's super soil. I gave the three plants a total of 2tsp, that's it. I may hit them with some blackstrap, though it's a little late at this point. I just bought some a few hours ago, so we'll see. I don't have any more seeds so I won't be growing any more this year. Besides, they'd be finishing up in the fall right along with the rest of my plants, so what's the point?

Yesterday I went out and planted my remaining 6 The Church (I lost 3 to whatever-the-hell-that-was that fried them all before I limed them) and my 1 Exodus Cheese. This spot was plagued with ticks, I must have picked 30 or 40 off of me while I was out there, luckily none had started sucking yet. Lime disease freaks me out.
I had to cut quite a bit of vegetation back, and I'm ashamed to say I had to clear out a few small trees, but now I have a pristine spot getting ~10hrs of sun or more, where there was none before.

I only have 6 left to get out, and I'll have a great opportunity at work later this week, so I'll bring them out early, drop them off before work, then leave my car parked there and walk back to my supplies to hike them up into the hills. Just so we're clear 'work' moves around quite a bit.
1 Rocklock, 1 Chocolope, 1 Super Bud, 1 Critical Mass 33, 1 Blue Lemon Thai, 1 Green Bud. That's gonna be a rockin plot. I topped the RL and the CL last night, they're about 2ft tall in my closet under CFLs, which imo equals 4-5 ft of outdoor growth, so I guess it was time.
