Would there be any reason not to have literally spikes of Ca, b, mn, n, p, k, etc all on one mound?

Not sure all those are translocatable.

Realize calcium is a really different creature, it can only be taken up by root tips. A clay spike full of Mn and Cu could be real interesting. Long thought about it, but don't have the right clay to try.

P spikes... mmmm they will bleed and make toxic P levels. Not good.

You are quite the thinker though! The Wright brothers crashed a bunch of times before they could fly.

The third N test logan does is total N. They do it because they say if your total N is good but nitrate and ammonical are low with no visable N deficiency the plants are producing proteases exudates and the soil biota is cycling peptides and proteins.

So what are they measuring in total N, if is not ammonia or nitrate?

No I can't say for sure it confused me at first so I asked an AEA rep when I talked with them that is the answer I was given. I can say though after a drenching of ferti nitro or PPD the total N on there test goes up but nitrate and ammonia stays relativeley the same.

Interesting. I have some 15' tall green
bushes that show almost zero N in my Spectrum tests. However I apply most N with SeaShield and Amino's.

I wrote to the agronomist at Spectrum. On the Logan page, there is only two nitrogen numbers supposedly at Logan, nitrate and ammonia.

Might this be a special test for AEA?
