Love me some Pot Sil. .7ml per gal feeding is what I do early on when my K is low. Young plants need the Si, and if your K is low, it's the perfect fit. However, I never need to raise my ph, so I need to be careful personally. I am always trying to keep my ph down.

Transplant is next couple days, I do both, they pull out easy when dry but it definitely does some root damage, if you don’t pull out then more work at end if u intend to keep the pots (simply inserting as is into larger container) , these tree pots are amazingly resilient though and the root mass you can get in small size is awesome, requires more frequent watering though which offers many positives, the only negative is the work necessary

95% of all my starts for all plants is from seed, including those pics - root stock for long lived perennials is from stock / cuts

They may not carry this particular line anymore... think you're reading "patent pending"...

Those are Pioneer Pots PP2565 and are in Hiko Trays HV530 - I'm not sure either are in stock anymore, even if showing so which they sometimes do there, small company . Hiko trays come from Europe and the Pioneer pots not sure, the Hiko trays can be substituted with their line they rep of Beaver Blocks which also works.


IMO - The key is the tree pots which air prune amazingly but then placing them within a tight cavity so the roots stay happy, airy and moist until you're ready to transplant - my larger pots root prune too.


I use many different versions of this type of setup so if one can't find the exact pot or cavity to place in they are looking for there are many solutions (just needs to fit tight and be suspended off bottom). I imagine there are much better combos than what I've found but I have tried a lot of them, my barn looks like I used to have a small retail planter store, haha


I start all kinds of veggies in these too, varying sizes family dependent, it works great for everything !

The Pioneer Pots sit inside the Hiko Tray but has a lid that catches the top of the tray, each Hiko tray cavity is just wider (and tapered as is the pioneer pot) and an inch or two taller so the pot sits suspended inside but tightly, this creates an area that is super moist but filled with air, the roots behave almost as if they were in aeroponics, but without all the fuss

The hiko trays are designed to be used as is, it's just not how I use them for plants I want to drive hard / are more high $$ value


Proper Ca, Amino acids and micros is definitely part of the healthy root puzzle also, all are very important and work together as is the wet/drier cycles critical especially the first 2-3 weeks of a seeds life... Organics all the way too !

Thanks. So you're talking about tightness to retain moisture, maybe to exclude light.
