Its nice to be self reliant, you can get a line and grow it yourself and pass it down to your kids. If you get one of the polyhybrids that is less stable, its not going remain good quality forever.

Yeah Tom tells it how it is. Really appriciate the insight into growing and breeding. I think my line is becoming pretty stable know at F6 sine 2017 when I began choosing the sativa candy chunk, and F12 since 2010 original cross. Perfect time to get some seed in and improve the line, but going to be sure to save this year's seed and keep it buried in the ground.

This was done with using 2 males, you can still carry on a line with 2 males at a time I guess.

looking good. you will probably get away with using the 2 males this time round if the previous selections were more open . Can't beat sun and soil grown bud. f12 now?

Yeah I may toy with the line a little more, it is now segregated in to 3 main phenos with some gradation in between.

1. Sativa Candy Chunk pheno dense, purple, pungent fruity and has a potent punch,

2. Medical Indica Bubblegum type pheno, high density, creeper punch but milder.

3: Overripe fruit smell too far sativa dominant plants which still have pretty good potency and flavor, but not as desirable.

Using lots more males with the Deep Chunk reproduction. Need the light for the garden though that time of year. Wherever there is a male, it makes a space in the garden. So I would be happy with half a dozen or so males scattered around. Will have to remove about 25 then.

Oh yeah, thats how I improved the line! I do look for linked traits such as plants indicating more indica dominance and specific traits like branchiness especially branch angle (upright good), stem thickness, internode space, preflower morphology, leaf shape and positioning. Must be observant.

Get to know your plants. Takes lots of time lots of love! :smoke:

my seed making is solely to make my own hybrids to grow and smoke. and just have fun and learn along the way. Maybe in 50 years of line breeding , testing , stableising , preserving heirlooms, improving plants , all on a big scale could one consider himself a breeder. got to earn your stripes and have the experience

i will be happy with a couple of keeper males
We do it because we love it. :)
