fracking is bad but the movie "gasland" is utter bullshit..
when you try to use lies and distortions to make your argument you do more harm than good...

In the film's signature moment Mike Markham, a landowner, ignites his tap water. The film leaves the viewer with the false impression that the flaming tap water is a result of natural gas drilling. However, according to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which tested Markham's water in 2008, there were "no indications of oil & gas related impacts to water well." Instead the investigation found that the methane was "biogenic" in nature, meaning it was naturally occurring and that his water well was drilled into a natural gas pocket.

This is one of several examples where the film veers from the facts. A second depiction of a flaming faucet in the home of Renee McClure also misleads viewers about the connection between natural gas development and methane in water wells. McClure's well was sampled by the state of Colorado and it, too, showed only naturally occurring methane.

The film's claims are so egregious that the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission was compelled to set the record straight. The COGCC information sheet corrects the film's misleading depictions and addresses false allegations of methane migration in Weld County.

Later in the film, natural gas is again falsely accused when the film flashes the words "35 mile fish kill Dunkard Creek Washington County PA.' The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency investigated this incident and tied the fish kills to coal mine run-off. Here is the official report.

In an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer, John Hanger, the secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said the film is "fundamentally dishonest" and "a deliberately false presentation for dramatic effect."

Contrary to the film's misleading claims, natural gas production is subject to federal, state and local regulations that cover everything from initial permits to well construction to water disposal. ?In rare cases where incidents occur, companies work with the appropriate regulatory authority to promptly identify and correct the issue, and implement measures to ensure it does not recur.

i don't care if Gasland is bullshit, really.there is many other evidence from USA and i,m talkin with people myself. i saw enough other clips and films from all over the world about fracking and you can see few constant things in them-end of farming close to frack zones, bad ear,and of course the water contamination. You can find German clip from some German TV channel that shows same things like Australian one.
Who gives those explanations for Gasland that you are posting? You cant blame Josh Fox if he wants to manipulate people for this cause:)May be he is trying to scare them as much as possible:)

Ina, latest events in Ro have been against gold mining in Rosia Montana (gold , silver and other important metals)..same people plan protests against shale gas, especially in regions directly implicated..large public opinion still is not informed about this, some actions will happen, the public implications remains to be seen..

still, something fishy happens there. I recently visited and unmarked patrol cars were in my shadow all the time. they must have something to guard, and it's not the gold, as I was there in a compact car and clearly not having mining equipment with me to steal their gold.

Yes,about gold mining in Rosia Montana i saw the protests,we were talking about that with Romanian friends this summer before it starts. i was telling them the same shit is happening here, same tricks, same everything-Dundee precious from Canada, is doing the same things here near Chelopech in Stara mountain. they were using this cianide for a few years before people understand what is happening...:( Many lakes and small rivers there are already destroyed.and the people dont have gold chains on their necks hahaNow they want more new places which are very green and nice for tourism like in your case:( Better stop them in early stages-now. and fracking should not happen in these two countries because once they inject that poison in the ground it is over for the people who live in these areas,u just dont know if your water is a little fracked or not:). sometimes the fracking fluids have no taste and you cant smell it This should not happen even once hear or in Romania. And that kind of gold mining too! By the way we are protesting from November till now against corruption on high political level and mafia, that controls everything around here.I know you have may be the same problem-corrupted politicians and national traitors, who will let people die for a few dollars more. I think if we loose our nature now we cant go anywhere else. The world is getting more and more polluted unfortunately, they just dont speak much about that...:(

bad news bulgarian friends:
energy under the form of gas, petroleum and coal are basic for the capitalist society wich must GROW every year and for the banking system!
Energy and banks are VERY closely interlinked!
Money is just debt, empty promises maintained that way by the banks!
coal, gas and petroleum are nothing more than carbon 12 and hydrogen atoms!
Carbon 12 isotope is the only atom to have 6 electrons , 6 protons and 6 neutrons, that is=666!
This world is satan's world, is ruled by him and bankers are nothing more than his "employees"...
Sadly ,fracking WILL go on , potable freshwater will become scarce and life quality in general will decrease!
It has done so in the last 25 years AT LEAST!
I felt it on my body!
But hope dies last, so cheer up and hope for better!
bye from Buzau

I despise fracking but I also despise foolish people... Carbon 12 is evil ? WTF !?!
Also, giving your location isn't very bright !
So wash your face with some "potable freshwater". Maybe you'll wake up...
