"Semi auto" landraces?

While its seems to be true that its more about changing day length there seems to be a spectrum of how fast there are willing to flower. Beldia seems very eager to flower.

@Old Piney Was the Beldia the mother?
I would cross the F1 back to Beldia, if you want to have a semi-auto variety.
No the Rasoli was I had frozen Beldia pollen

Over at the ACE subforum in the Lebanese thread @repuk had a Lebanese P3 in a big pot keep flowering outdoors despite the hours getting longer. Nobody would have expected it, not even @dubi. Dont know if its the exception to the rule though.
Its happened to a friend of mine; he put the plants outdoors in the spring for free vegg (he figured) but it was a bit to early and they jumped into flower, and just flowered out during the late spring/summer. It was awesome weed in the end, the most stoney i ever tried. I imagine finishing during summer made it finish in the highest uv index (aswell as in elevation) may have had something to do with it.

My Beldia had a very bright light source (24h) because of a circus that was performing here. It was 3 weeks of reveg light at the onset of flowering (first pistils). It reveged or stopped flowering for that time, grew a bit larger and then finished just on shedule at the very first days of september. It wasnt delayed by the reveg light they had for 3 weeks. Also light pollution was not a thing. So there is something unique about it sensing the time of the year.
But also the feature of flowering by being rootbound or reaching 1m tall....

I've never read about the 1m-trigger, I'm interested where this information comes from.
It is from Khalifa.
My Beldias triggered flowering (throwing pistils) at 1.1-1.2m size, eventhough the continious light source ´just dissappeared 4 days before that event. Finally i dont even know what triggered, there was a repotting right before summer solstice, I also preflowered them in tiny 0.5L ´cups to select for females, so this plant was really in a rollercoaster of different trigger/trigger prenvent scenarios. No hermies, finished right on time, just as Khalifa states on their website for outdoor grows. It almost seems to be intelligent in a way you seem to not be able to confuse it. It was don +-1 week around September 1st (49N)

Great info, great thread folks!

I just got in the Ace Auto Zamadelica and old school Black Lebanese.

But what I really am looking for is the old school high from the Lebanese Blond hash we smoked back in the 60's and it sounds like Beldia fits the bill? Like the Beldia described here it was a clear high, euphoric. Might say it was like a very mild form of the acid we dropped in the late 60's aka Blue Cheer and such, very clear, clean euphoric. I now assume Lebanon Blond was made from the Beldia sativas or something along those lines.

Someone mentioned an integrity issue with Khalifa. Tell me it aint so! I'm looking to order either their Beldia or Desert Skunk. You really like Beldia @Old Piney, did you check out Desert Skunk? Description of the high is about the same but potency is more.....so they say. https://shop.mandalaseeds.com/collections/khalifa-genetics/products/desert-skunk

Grow hard,
Ben

So I've only ordered once from Khalifa and had no problems .Honestly I can't imagine such nice folks doing anything dishonest. They have a bunch of really imfomitive videos for free. Khalifa’s beldia is one of my all time favorite strains not very strong but the best head I describe as cheerful floaty. It's also a joy to grow outside and just such a cool plant .I've never tried desert skunk so I can't help you there

You guys growing outdoors legally have it made. I used to (illegally in TX) when I had acres of an ag crop but got out of that biz 7 years ago. Grew amongst the crop. I grew out Mex. bag weed in my backyard, subdivision, decades ago. Must have been unadulterated as the high was clear and cerebral.

later.....

I grew outside illegal gorilla for many years. Unfortunately even with N.J.having legal weed it's not legal to grow any. N.j. Is all about the $$$. I've heard that the later Mexican dirt and brickweed actually had good genetic they just screwed up the cure

Mex. weed can be some of the best, Mel Franks wrote so too in his 1984 book. . We'd get stuff so strong it had the nickname of "acid weed". The good genetics were there but the cannabanoids were trashed the way the Mex. drug lords processed it - curing in the hot Mex. sun, hydraulic packing of the kilos, long storage times, etc.

I still have some of those old seeds.

Now is a good time to order from Mandala. For starts the Euro is weak against the USD and the freebies I"m getting should be the bomb - fems from Ace, Khalifa and one Black Friday fem. Stealth is unreal.

Hi! Hopefully someone can educate me on this subject :)

I have been wondering about the actual meaning of "semi auto" when talking about landraces. For example lebanese, moroccan, or zamal. When people say "semi", are they referring only to the way they start flowering earlier and also when roots are space restricted? They don't tolerate irregularities in the photoperiod like rudelaris autos would, do they? Were they to be exposed to light pollution, would they also react by showing intersex?

It makes me think that they are not really autoflowering plants like rudelaris in the sense that rudelaris has a biologic ticking clock that makes it flower. It's more like they flower as a stress response to being rootbound. Is that fair?

Because isn't this what happens with some older mother plants that start flowering in small pots? In Spain there is a famous and overrated clone of Critical Mass, that is over 25 years old. It is quite annoying to keep as a mom because it seems as soon as the roots touch the edge of the pot, it will start flowering. Is this a similar situation? Just plants that are extremely eager to flower as a survival mechanism?
my short stuff auto, from shortstuff seeds over 10 years back, has a lot of Williams wonder, an old strain from back in the 1990s, the deal being if you want this girl to flower you have to cover it for 2-3 days
that means once the plant is the size of your car, throw a tarp over it again for 2-3 night then she falls to flower, auto Huh?
a great 'party trick' for fellow breeders but in truth a total bitch of a plant with low to very low THC, so perhaps high in CBD...I never waited to find out ...lol
