I have one of those propagation units lol. They're good but I'm too much in love with the individual dome idea to use it now. Here's a basic rundown of how I did it this particular time:

  • Take clones at start of lights on from well watered, misted mums
  • I didn't use any gels/powders but I will when I get some
  • Keep out of all wind so no leaves move
  • Mist when visually needed, if it doesn't pick up, dome it till it does and give it some extra time to recover fully before removing
  • I use the 2x18w t8's over the mums at the back of the tent and keep the clones at the front. It's about 1ft from the clones or more. I also put lids or whatever to block more light and wind so it's very dim lighting. I've only learnt recently how important the low lighting is. It really needs to be low.
  • I used low doses of h2o2.

With the PKs I also put them in a white mop bucket which helped block light and wind. I did use a clear tupperware lid the first day or two with the PKs to keep humidity in.

I used 18/6 for the lights.

Should be a good test, looking forward to it brah but keep that light well away I reckon. I'll get a pic of the whole tent setup next time, see what you think. Do you normally use jiffies for clones?

Peace :tiphat:

Edit: I forgot to add -> I also recently tried smooshing the jiffy and this is a must!!! After you soak it, kind of rotate and squeeze it to unclump the medium. The jiffy will be nearly twice the size now and much better for roots to penetrate.

Also I mist a lot at the start, and drop off selectively as they can take it.

Hey guys if you've ever wondered if your hygrometer (relative humidity) is calibrated accurately, do I have an easy DIY for you! :tiphat:

Get a jar that will fit your sensor unit (I use that remote weather station seen in the pics) as well as a small container like the lid of a juice bottle or whatever. In the lid, mix up salt and a tiny amount of water. You want it to be like a paste of damp wet sand, not drippy and runny with pools forming in the bottom.

Place the salt lid and the humidity sensor in the jar and leave it somewhere ambient and out of the sun etc for at least 8 hours. The humidity in the jar is now 75% so you can check what yours says, and you will know to add on a few more, or subtract.

Mine measured 80 after 8 hours which verified my recent suspicion that it wasn't accurate! :good: This is a commonly accepted test btw if you google it. Peace.

Edit: 18 hours later it's 77%

Never used jiffys for clones bro, only bubble cloner. I agree with the low lighting for clones to root under, I have seen peeps on here try to root under way too much watts and wonder why their shit don't work.
My 23w CFL will be close to a foot away, I usually use a 18w CFL a foot away from the bubble cloner on 24/7 when it's running.
I'm keen on the idea of h2o2 usage after seeing the results you are getting, again never used before. I use plain ph'd water in the bubble cloner and change every 2-3 day with fresh ph'd water, I can see where h2o2 in this setup would be highly beneficial.
For this test I'll be using Clonex(purple) on all cuts(when first taken) in both setups, it shall be fun as I need to get my cloning skills down, or get two methods wired, cause the next few rounds I'll be popping some killer genetics from Dutchgrown and can't afford to stuff up or lose not even 1 plant, lol, too much $$$ involved for little old me. But Goddamn buying and acquiring genetics is sooooo addictive, strain whore status here I come baby.

Peace an Repsectz

I have tied my PKs to screens many times, but I envision the PK just growing all over any cab and not needing to be tied. If you are moving her to a bigger room tying might be necessary, but her branches are supper strong.

Peace, :joint:

The scrog is going to be like we discussed at some point way back, tied to the top instead of woven through. I haven't tried it that way but it shouldn't be too hard. :)

Sounds like a good idea. Instead of having "mush" on and under the screen your buds sites will be that much bigger.
Good tip on the jiffy pellets. I use em from time to time and that should help.

LOL... You go buddy! I've been trying to tell people about that for years. :D They sure do make a tall fluffy sack o' peat, eh? :D

i like the pic of the net pot and root pron :)

interesting about the jiffy pots - i always hated them because they terminate the roots at the webbing. i guess now i know the "secret."

Hydrosun, this thing will blow the doors off the hinges if I don't tie it :)

Disco, thanks man, yeah they come in handy sometimes.

Hydro-Soil, hahaha, I feel so dumb : I even read that you should do it but never did it for a long time after using 'em.

xmobotx, yep, it's a feature, not a bug :bigeye:

Cheese, the reveges are pretty much revegged now. I took cuts before they were revegged so now that they're revegged, I don't really need them, lol. I've been having an urge to find an outdoor spot where I can put excess plants because that would change the whole game around.

Here's the best info source for jiffy users: This thread is da peat puck freaks

Oops forgot b00m! Yeah the clonex purple is good stuff bro. Something I would like to try is blanching the stem right where you plan to take the cut. You wrap it in foam or tape etc for a few days to a week, and it builds up hormones right at that spot. I just figure it would be good in a bubble cloner because gel would wash off. Peace.

I've seen peeps on here wrap a branch with some soil/potting mix and some hessian cloth or some sort of cheese cloth and about 2 weeks later boom roots spitting out everywhere, and now you have a fully rooted whole branch off your mom plant, it's great to see, I'll hunt it down on here but have no idea what the thread was called.
So what your thinking bro with the blanching will work a treat I reckon in the bubble cloner, cause yeah the gel will wash off in the bubble water, but it does stay there for the first 3 days, having pre-primed root areas would cut out the gel process.
Peace

The technique is called air layering.

Yup good stuff.

Once I had a snapped stem outdoors so I took a small block of thin foam, wrapped it around, and zip tied it either side of the snap. The foam supported it and kept it dark and some days later the whole area was pale and had swollen/mended perfectly.

The plants are coming a long nicely Scrub. I used Jiffy pellets for years and had very good luck with them b00m.:smokey:

Outdoors it's a long walk up a hill if I did it, that's the main thing holding me back right now :)

Now, let me present...

The Rooterpot™ for air layering. I saw someone on here use a jiffy too, lol. Did I mention I used recycled jiffies for the clones? Haha : Keepin' it ghetto.

Yes dude. What is a widger? A thing for digging up seedlings?

Everything is going great in the cabs. Updates tonight if I manage to get my shelf thing built and more lights in. Just waiting for the pk to fill out the pot some more before I can start scroggin'.
