Scrub, quick Q

Do you add hydrogen peroxide to your grows?

Or you wouldn't even think about adding it because your organic soil/bugs would be wrecked?

Xm, word, they go together well for sure. One day when I have a bigger area I want to try an oversized smart pot, straight coco, with an airstone ball buried in the lower centre of the rootzone.

Para, yes I love h2o2 in what is essentially hydro (coco + hydro nutes). I would have to have a serious pest problem or overwatering symptoms that urgently needed to be corrected, to use it in soil. Some guys do use it regularly on soil grows, but very lightly. I can't really say for sure as I've never added it to soil. Apparently in converting to oxygen and water, the h2o2 rips organic matter apart, or something. Definitely not microbe friendly.

The 10,000k is growing great! I actually quit the h2o2 earlier to let it wear off and hit them with a questionable aerated organic tea, but now I have spots on the leaves :/ Going back to all chem. Organics sux lol.

I'm not panicking too much since it was probably the tea. The clones are doing pretty darn good so far.

Yeah i read that H2O2 kills all organic matter off if used in organic soil.

I was just wondering if it would be beneficial in my grow.

Take care.

What nuteline are you planning to use, just hydro or cocospecific nutes? Nice coleus btw, so easy plant to clone.

Hey unthing, I'm using Dutch Master Gold for veg and flower. Gotta buy new bottles of flower though as these nutes are getting on a bit now. As far as I understand, it's not labelled as coco specific, but it basically is anyway. My friend told me it's got more cal/mag and this is what makes a coco nute...not sure if that's correct. Anyone know?

sombody did some tests and he found that coco and perlite together gave him a 12% yeild increase,
i think its in the coco forum

wow she looks super dooper great. it reminds me of how I need to top my clones especially since I be growing bagseed sativa clones. that would make them way more bushy and not so damed tall. :)

funny stuff - it's counter-intuitive for me to get away from perlite

i think that's one of the reasons i want to try it - lol

Well I love seeing the PK going nuts. Some people don't know that she grows hollow stems which are always expanding! Great shot of the topping.

Peace, :joint:

Very hollow, very expanding :) Thanks all. They got over the leaf spot drama and are still growing great.

I don't trust any side-by-side or test for the most part. I perused that thread ages ago and don't remember much, but here's an example of what I mean - 1 coco pot, 1 perlite/coco pot. Day 2. The perlite is dried out but the coco is still wet. Do you water more to satisfy the perlite? Do you water them individually when they need it? No matter which way you do it, human misjudgements can come into play. Plus there are so many types of coco. A lot of variables. Anyways, not to say it was inaccurate, just that I have a hard time agreeing with it as a blanket statement.

Just woke up...grumpy, lol.

Peace!

*oh, one of the 6 PK cuts is out of the race. One other is looking risky but apart from that they look great and all 4 TWxPD cuts are looking good. It's been 6 days for the TWxPD cuts. 4 days for the PKs. Hydrosun, would you say the PK is a little harder than usual to clone?

Scrub...you mentioned using h2o2...I have always been fuzzy on the subject.
Is it just household bleach, watered down to set parameters?

Howdy medi. I use stuff from a chemist pharmacy. It's 6% strength and it all runs off % strengths.

Keep in mind there's no real set limits carved in stone (imo), but here is a page that has some rates and info. I was using it a little stronger than they recommend but what can I say, I'm a baller :smokey: Their rate for germinating seeds seems very high though, I used way less.

Try to get food grade stuff if you can, and make sure there's no additives other than h2o2. Bleach would appear to have additives.

I've been giving liquid kelp to up the ph so I haven't used any h2o2 for a while. I use it to water my clones though, we'll see if it works.

OUch! Umm... No on the bleach. H2O2 is Hydrogen Peroxide. You usually put 3% H2O2 on your cuts, before putting a band-aid on it.

Scrub can tell you about down under.... in the states, I get it from Beauty supply shops. They call it "Developer" and you want the "Clear" type. They sell it in 30 and 40% solutions.

I generally use one cap-full per gallon of water, in every gallon of water I use with soil. Makes for really thick and fuzzy roots. :D

oddly enough, a veterinarian recently told me it's better to rinse with saline, not peroxide when it comes to cuts.

cool idea akin to the obbt thing - does seem to me like a "one media" instead of mixes makes some pretty good sense :ying:

Hehe. Yeah man, seems to me like there is a soggy ball of coco where I would put the ball. It's exposed to air 360º around the outside so that would be the last "soggy" bit. I've seen other people put the airstone idea forward before but it always been dismissed because the ph would change, but my ph doesn't go anywhere even after being bubbled for days, so I think it's worth a shot :)

I repotted the PK today - I saw plenty of air pruned roots while growing, but she's still a little tangly.

Needs more holes. Cue the weird net pot type thing:

Here's the TW cuts, and the PK cuts:

I'm not into domes but if they start wilting and spraying doesn't help, I dome them as needed with a beer cup. Works great.
