It's great mate, I just watched it :) I had seen some of it years ago and it brought back memories. Just a good honest commercial grower/battler sharing what he knows to help people stay out of jail. He got done for a $16m crop. They came to that figure by estimating $2000 per seedling and he had 8000 of the fuckers! I just about pissed myself laughing at the end. "All marijuana plants in this film were made of plastic" :biglaugh:

Rough as guts but he gets the job done.

I picked a frosty fan leaf off the PK weeks ago and just smoked it now. Pretty nice :tiphat:

Okay I took the Leda Uno out so I could get a good look at the trichs. There are more than it seemed and I also trimmed off a handful of burnt crap and gave it some molasses.

Hey bro thanks! In that position I'd probably be thinking about a vertical cylinder scrog setup. Nothing (well ok, not much) makes me sadder than seeing a tiny little floorspace with miles of unused headroom. Did you mean multiple 250s? Because if you were going to run say 2 x 250s, I would think a 600 would be far better. 600s are the most lumens per watt as far as I'm aware - just more efficient and that's what it's all about at the end of the day.

The PK trichs are looking fantastic - they seem to be clouding up but I'm terrible at distinguishing between clear and cloudy. Amber is no problem to spot though. :tiphat:

Yeah man it seems like a quirky kind of strain for sure. This is from KC too. When the dude gave me the seeds we pulled them straight off the mother plants and I was like...uh...these seem kind of crap, dude. Plus this plant is from seed I made from that seed, kind of blindly.

It smells very lightly compared to the PK, like half the smell strength, or less. Not particularly nice either - like a sickly green tree sap kind of smell.

The PK seemed to stop stinking quite as much but still a heavy rich grape kind of odour. Even the non frosted fan leaves stink if I remove any from the cab and take a whiff.

OH MY! you haven't grown it out yet? i have always kind of wondered what it is about - i only ever got leaves off of it

Scrub. I have a question, I believe you were talking about using a colladal silver mixture in water sprayed on to the flowering females could produce feminized seeds. Could you tell me how much I would need to mix into how much water, and how much would you use on the plants? I ask because we just happen to have a small bottle of CS in the house. Thanks Ghostwolf

Immaculate - maybe you can remove the ballast/reflector? There's a tutorial on here somewhere. Possibly in Pontiac's or Messn'n'grommin's DIY lists.

Xmobotx - Hahaha, yeah I've never grown it, this is a total adventure for me. So it just refused to flower or what?

SX - Howdy bro. Nice bit of coco humour there! :biglaugh: Good to see ya.

Ghostwolf - I don't think that's going to work but you never know I guess. The pre-made stuff is supposedly too weak. It's very easy and cheap to make your own though. Just type 9999 silver into ebay, get some distilled or de-ionized water and you're set. If you want to try your stuff, just spray it daily, undiluted, starting like a week before flower, up until a few weeks into flower (should be loaded with male flowers by then if it's worked). If it lists the PPM on the label you need like 30 to 40ppm from what I've read. Jump117 has an interesting thread experimenting with various methods. I'm yet to actually make it work as in getting fem seed. There was some other reason why pre-bottled stuff doesn't work. I think because what we make is not actually colloidal, it's ionic, or something. I don't really understand but hopefully that helps.

Thanks all.

Thank you my friend. I was just asking because there is a bottle of CS here that was store bought. just a thought. Check my thread when you have a chance.

lol - yeah i dont know how much of it was me cuz i was an early learnin grower (and it was 15 yrs ago or ?) but it just made like real thin pre flowers and lost vigor - kind of did this thing where it didn't die but it didnt keep growing - not very potent any of it

Hi ScrubNinja, I'd like to ask you a question as you are aussie & can get the same lights I can, I've noticed that like me you seem to like to get into the technical details of lighting.
I have a 8 x 54w T5 light(1200mm), the only problem is that there is no 2700k bulbs available, even the Sylvania factory in germany says thast they don;t make them right now so I have to use the 3000k ones instead, they work fine but for 430w I did expect a bit more bam! I've been looking around & I found these bulbs which could be promissing. They are

ProColour T5 HO 80w

Deep red sections at 660nm. Supplementation lam encourages reddish florescence in SPS corals

Because of the strong optical effect of ProCoulor T5, we recommend a mixing proportion of 1:4 (ProColor : AquaBlue Special / BluePlus)

Please ensure that the ProColor tubes are not installed on the edges of the lighting fixtures, but rather in the center

For more information follow the link below

http://www.atiaquaristik.com/index.php?id=146,0,0,1,0,0/
at $44 each I'd want to be sure that they're worth it!
What do you think???
it sounds good to me as I know that in LEDS they use a lot of red 660nm
I've asked the same question to thendurkel since he also is interested in that type of stuff, hopefully between the 3 of us we should come to a consensus! thanks for the help Maaate

XM thanks for the info bro. A lot of KC's strains seem to be quirky like that for sure. My friend had some similar results to you with his Mango.

Jozix, howdy sport :gday: Hmmmmm. Well first of all, have you seen the fluoro link in my sig? T5 seems like a poor choice in general to me. I'm guessing you've seen it, and don't want to change your whole system so you've asked this question.

To answer it (kind of) you'd really have to look at the spectral output of these bulbs to know the real deal. They're often called SPD's, but either way, they aren't shown there. Their worded description doesn't mean much - you have to see a chart to see what it's really putting out.

So anyway, these bulbs are going to cost you $350 worth of promissory notes, and that's a lot. I don't think they could make a bulb that would offer that much of a performance increase to justify the cost. Me personally, I would cut your losses, ditch the whole lot and get PLLs. :tiphat: Hopefully that explains but by all means ask away if there's any other questions. I'm not that much of an expert by the way, I don't mind sayin' :D

Thanks for the info, I already use a 2 x 54w pll light for my veg area & it does seem brighter. I would like to try pll's for flowering but first I must ask if there are dif sizes as mine are rather short. with the passion you have for them I can guess that you would know how to get the best ones sorry if the question was asked, if it has could you please point me towards the post # that the answer is since 636 posts

Yeah no worries bro. They basically get longer the higher the wattage of the bulb is.

picture.php

And basically they're short in comparison to T5s, they're bent over sort of. But the clincher is that the 55w deliver the most lumens per watt, apart from the 40w which is a little harder to find, and they both blow T5-anything outta the water. This means they're most efficient in simple terms. The most light, for the least heat.

80w - 75 lpw
55w - 87.2 lpw
40w - 87.5 lpw
36w - 80.5 lpw
24w - 75 lpw
18w - 66.6 lpw

So my advice is to go for the 55w models as they are available everywhere and close enough to the best lumens per watt.

Of course, lumens per watt is not that straightforward in reality - see my fluoro thread concerning that issue, but the above simple method of calculating them is a good indication.

If you run these numbers for the T5s, I am quite confident you will see they are far from best. Definitely don't assume that because they say HO or even VHO that they are efficient. Far from it. In fact you lose efficiency the more HO'd they are when I calced some random ones. When I calced some figures for the VHO's I laughed - they were shite! Everything is a lie.

If you'd like to check it out for the lights you're using, take the Initial Lumens, and divide by the wattage. Sorry, I went into a little T5 rant there, but at least I answered your question eventually, heh :)
