S2D's Build and Grow it BIG!

I'm thinking of running 6 nice sized girls in there this time around. As for the a/c, it doesn't have a vent, so I'm pretty sure it's just recirculating.

On my previous closet adventures I would have the 449cfm vortex pulling into the closet from a passive intake, then across the lights and back out into the house. Honestly, it didn't work too bad. What I might try is the same passive intake system WITH the added window a/c. This should only warm the air slightly as it passes through, and I can either dump back into the house or cool the laundry area with it.

It kinda sucks cuz I'm not far along enough to try different ventilation schemes and see what works. It can't be hard to keep these lights cool in such a big room with a/c if I did it in a closet before just pulling household air.

I'm gonna use this...

Fresh air from the back door right next to the room...vent is for the 1000 watt hps.

Yea if your just runnin 800watts in that room you should be fine on temps.

you may want to eventually upgrade the fan somtime but it'll work. and passive intakes are the best way to go. the air will come in just as fast as it's going out as long as there the same sized holes.

hell with only 800 watts he should be fine even without the AC unit if he had a decent exhaust fan that was sucking AC in thru the house from the passive intakes

NorthernKronic Hey man! I do have a stash of chips ahoy if you wanna help build this thing, lol! :smoke:

MID TOWN Yup...for now it will be the two 400's plus two shoplights with 3x34 watt bulbs in them. Total will be 1004 watts running in there. I might get my hands on one more 400w ballast, but I think it's a metal halide and I'm not sure I'll get it. We'll see.

I'm totally loving all the help.

I'm going to get the 1/4hp chiller ordered soon and a 5 gallon bucket of carbon to make a DIY scrubber. Gonna get some more stuff worked out tomorrow.....

Metal Halide throws alot of heat but with the a/c unit will cool things off , now u have a 1004 w ( but if i understood right they'r not all MH),an air extract & a/c my guess is they will do great.
In mid-summer i didn't had the a/c & i had to raise the MH 1 meter high, althaugh i had an airextractor & 2 18inch fans they still got half burned but then the a/c fixed evrything :headbange ..
goodluck my freind! :rasta:

StonedGrunt55 Congrats on the 500 posts! :headbange Jury is still out on another light, but we have plenty of time to worry about that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this all works like a dream, but my luck isn't that great, lol! :bashhead:

NorthernKronic Chips ahoy, glass of milk, and a bowl of blueberry! Let's see....wall is framed. I need someone to put insulation in the ceiling, put the boards back up (cut out to fit the wall), I need the....ahh heck. Get your ass over here and I'll give you a hammer, heh! :joint:

Ok, so the wall is framed. Chiller and carbon ordered today, should have those anytime now. Need to do insulation, electrical rough in (wire is all pulled), hang rock, tape, skim, sand, paint and we have us a room! Doh....ok, so we still have a ways to go!

Here's a shot of the door framed out, and to the right is the partition wall/corner. I'll get some good photos of the progress when rock is up. It's hard to get a good shot from the dining room.

We're going to use the little 22" hollow core door standing on the wall to the left there just to keep things easy.....and cheap!

yeeha, stoned friend.
i'll have one of those cookies, and let's hang some sheetrock, bro.
we'll have that wall taped and painted in no time.
but first-- let's burn a bowl of that Blueberry. :joint:

stoned, my closet sits in an 8'x12' room, that i built on to my house, and it can only be accessed from my bedroom. i have my desk and computer in here and some of my wifes stuff.
as soon as my daughter gets married, i think i'll kick my wife's stuff out and copy what you're doing.

You ever think about useing open ended cooltubes. or air cooled hoods ,with one end of the hoods left open?

you could do that and use a Y joint to conect the 2 tubes or hoods and just exuast the hot air away from the bulbs through one ducting and backinto the house (or outside). then just make a few active intake vents and just use the air conditioner as a back up (just in case)

Dont know if this makes sense, its 5 o' clock in the morning and i havent slept yet. lol But good luck boss.
GET ER DONE!

hazy I can't wait for you to be able to expand amigo! :friends: We'll toke down on the BB any time you like bro!

Mr. Kade I am actually going to use two cooltubes inline. I've run them on a splitter before and it just slows the airflow. Other than that, I'm going to try pretty much what you said...btw, you're making good sense for 5am!

J-Roc......I promise I'm doing all I can. I just need my electrician to finish his rough in and the rest should fly, but he was ill yesterday. I'm hoping he can get in today and finish his part. Believe me, I'm dieing over here too...I hate having all the stuff lying around and nothing to do with it. Ugh!

Hey outame2 my good friend! :friends: I'm glad to see you're finally kickin' it over there! Now it's my turn to wait, lol.

Mr. Kade....just run your two 600's inline. I assume you're talking about 6" ducting, fan, and tubes right? You should be just fine. I just don't like the whole "Y" splitter deal. Seems there is much more flow directly inline even with more bends in the ducts.
