Rubbermaid Tubs Garden Complete

Sooooooo...

What yields does one get out of such a setup?

Would 4 ounces be possible using a SCROG?

Anyone try to insert a small DWC into this design?

Hey Ambre

That's a great design! The Microgrowers would love to see it.

Wow, that's awesome to see the old Nimby thread again. He inspired me to grow with Rubbermaids. Can you post bigger pics with a higher resolution?

Hi Red!

Actually, my design was mostly inspired by your threads from last year on the "old" site. I recognize your design from the old thread. I appreciate your comments; thank you!

I've just finished building two new ones; one for mothers and the other for cloning/vegging. Since they are back-to-back, I built a larger separate carbon filter with a blower powerful enough to ventilate both containers. They are working quite nicely!

Krusty-

I run recirculating DWC in my containers in the winter; Ebb & Flow during hot weather. I'm in the south where we've had over 40 days straight over 100; just TOO hot to keep DWC healthy in the summer.

Yield will depend on a lot of things, but in my larger size system I get about an oz per sq foot. I use about 60-70 watts of CFL's/sq foot.

Simply amazing ambre! Thank you so much for doing a write up like this and explaining how you did it. You've helped me out MAJORLY! Quick question though. Sorry if you already answered this...I didnt see it. How many watts are you using for flower? How many watts for veg?

Lighting

Cobain-

I use compact fluorescents (CFL's). I prefer the ones with straight bars rather than the twisted ones, but both work just fine.

For clones/vegging, I use "daylight" spectrum bulbs (6500K). For flowering, I use "soft" or "warm" spectrum bulbs (3000K).

I have 8 light sockets mounted in the container. I don't always have every socket in use.

For rooting clones, I only use 2 20-watt daylight bulbs, so the light is fairly dim.

For vegging, I start with 4 20-watt daylight bulbs and increase to 8 20- or 25-watt daylight bulbs (around 50 watts/sq ft).

For flowering, I start with 4 20-watt daylight bulbs and 4 25-watt warm bulbs. Leaving some cool spectrum bulbs in for the first couple of weeks helps reduce stretch and the limited space in the container means I don't want a lot of stretch! As flowering progresses, I replace the daylight bulbs with warm bulbs and increase the wattage on the bulbs. The most I've used is 4 30-watt and 4 35-watt bulbs (72 watts/sq ft) but I could use up to 8 42-watt bulbs (92 watts/sq ft). The problem with the higher wattage is heat; my new ventilation system should take care of that.

Thanks ambre for the detailed response. You mentioned your new ventilation. I really like how you had the fan at the top blowing out the hot hair rather than something you had to attach to a window. Did you change this?

heres some shots of my old tub i used. it had 350watts of cfls in it. i think my yield was around 2oz maybe more from the two plants i flowered in it.
