honestly im a noob on the outdoor tip
maybe chopping earlier instead of cutting would have been better, some of the plants i covered 2x are def showing some signs of the cold and not loving life as much as before the cold snaps.... so i can't really speak to the benefits of covering them, i think the quality and quantity was similar at chop time as it was before the first covering.
not much i can do but learn, in general try to grow higher yielding jawns that will finish late sept early oct rather than mid oct or later (miles bubba kush x floscout wanted to go till nov i think)

what sort of seeds did you make from this run for next year , avi?

well... on the hemp tip i crossed ALL the hemp varieties i have with a Wulf hemp male (wulf is USA heirloom variety of hemp that's been inbred for vigor and CBD) - also pollinated a slew of THC strains with the wulf hemp male to make some "balanced" seeds that will hve high THC and high CBD and hopefully some balanced expressions among their progeny
on the THC side of things i dusted several females with a catpiss moontang male; females were mostly chemy stinky kushy things like legend og, chem91, sour dubb, and white dawg x long valley royal kush

thanks everyone for the kind words and for checking in on the thread!!
:good:
:joint:

time to start dry trimming today, i believe
:woohoo:

That catpiss moontang female had really nice bud structure Avi.

I'm behind getting my shit into jars, I only managed 3 outdoor plants this year Legend OG, 24k white an wvrk. Still got a decent amount of schmoke.

Duckmang and I will be out to see ya'lls in a month and I'll need some clones :) but I'm bringing a 45 lb cannabis fed turkey :)

:yeahthats
sounds like a plan!

season finally drew to an end.... got done trimming, fam and farm workers are about all gone, have the house to ourselves for the first time in about 4 months... good to have peace and quiet

setting back up for indoor
big bed, 8 lights - 6 DE HPS and 2 CMH 315 just to mix up the spectrum
one 12 inch intake on a timer (will change to a thermostat) is keeping the room cool while an 8 inch exhaust pulls air out of the top of the room; i put a new carbon filter with an 8inch fan on top of it in the corner of the room, just pulling dust and cleaning air
vegging plants in the beds just about 3 weeks then flipping (SOON!)

building the bed was fun...

^ spare wood and landscape fabric never looked so good....

picture.php

^ bed full of soil! ready to plant

also... check out this lil glob of dried up guttation

picture.php

^^ found several of these during trimming, dabbed a few and they tasted like propolis w hints of pine

some advice for no till big bedders....dont waste your time and money on cheap china humidity checker sticks...u can use them but they must moving to show the sort of proper value... you cant let them stick in the soil and read value from time to time with cheap ones...
at least the china stick i have is shit...im back to lift pots...but with this big beds ....bla

i have this same issue one of mine always reads about 2-3 numbers too dry and it pisses me off. seems like half of them dont work right and they are all the same green meter with different labels or whatever...

whats a modest method for moisture monitoring?

avi your a madman for this bed its yuuuuge. cant wait broseph!

confirmed - im mad
lol

u familiar w the thread on icmag called "big soil little room" by father earth? this bed is kind of in homage tpo his big soil room :D
about 2 yards in the bed

i don't use anything to check moisture
i stick a finger down in there.... i used LOTS of aeration material to avoid any potential overwatering issues, believe it or not water can run thru this soil and hit the floor if i add a lil too much so i'm being cautious, letting top level dry a lil bit but the clover is coming up hard and i put a lil bit of barley straw over the soil layer to keep moisture in (not sure what im actually doing sometimes i just do it!)

You're def right about open fast draining soil mixes. Better to have to water more often than to have soggy soil that won't dry out if over watered.

Mad? If you are, it's in a good way.

thanks nino

flipped the room today - lites out!

looks like the grow canopy this run is 7 ft wide and 13 ft long, being lit by 6 DE HPS 1k w and 2 CMH 315w
so we are looking at 91 sq ft and 6630 w = about 73 w per sq ft
seems high to me... especially considering that right now the DE HPS are all cranked up to slightly over 1000w so we could be looking at more like 7200 watts at this time

ive lined both long sides of the bed with taller plants on a bench (fancy wood on bucket tech for bench)
i'll grab a pic for the next post
