Hey Ncali, Ive had her now for years... I dropped a whole pack (10 seeds) of really old seeds with the intention of making F2's, but, only one seed was viable, and shes the girl in the pics. I dont count her days anymore, but, shes around the 10 week mark. Thanks for the compliments! :)

Now, I have a question for indoor pure sativa/nld growers... Can the lack of adequate light cause clawing and canoeing? I noticed that certain leaves suffering these symptoms actually unrolled when (a) she got a watering then (b) her affected areas were pushed closer to the light... Ive never seen leaves "fix" themselves before, but, I usually get clawing from mistakes like overferting and heat...
:chin:

Yes, without a doubt it can. Ive experienced this with plants before as well. Its easily remedied by exposing the leaves to more light as you found out. If you really want to see the effects more pronounced, try putting the top cola of your plant above the light source. You'll see clawing/canoeing within a week from a lack/reduction in light.

Hahaa! Its funny you mentioned the tops above the light, cause thats what happened! And thats also where I noticed leaves unrolling. Youve been alot of help Dave, and I appreciate it... :) But, with that said, I made a pretty big, noob mistake last night. I have employed what Im just simply calling zig zag supercropping. Basically, pinching and bending in a way that creates a z shape in the stem, thus lowering the branch. I did it successfully with two branches previously, last night however, for the third branch, I didnt mush the stem enough and damned near snapped her in half, and she is looking bad today. Im 95% sure the branch above the split is dead. So, that sucks nuts, total rookie mistake, but, screw it, what are you gonna do? The rest of her still looks rocking, minus the occasional claw.

my new strategy is to top to colas, I believe I don't lose on yield if I do it around week 3-7 depending on cultivar, and also reduce chances of losing buds to botrytis, not that it happens often, but I hate massive buds anyway. Ive never seen botrytis in true landrace sativas but Ive seen my share in sativa hybrids.

Lovely looking plants Don, such nice colors so jealous :p My Gypsy Nirvana Laos were almost full purple by the end! So much so I'm starting to think they have been contaminated with a PCK or Yunnan type plant or similar. Cold weather seemed to speed ripening and build frost though.

Thats an interesting theory you have there, Columbo... Have you seen RC Colas grow of bohdis purple laotian? It was so purple the color leached into his rolling papers!

Just checked out the RC Cola's Purple Laos thread. Mine is no where near as purple but there are some similarities. Sown on April 1 equivalent mine took forever to start flowering (early Sept.) but once it did it seemed to be well and truly done by 12 weeks (late November/early December outdoors). It also had a good resin coverage and was quite potent already after a quick dry. After it turned purple due to cold the aroma changed to something similar as what RC describes. Structurally it seemed to grow more bush-like somewhat like Don's. But my leaves were much smaller and not as narrow as either Don's or RC's.

Yeah I was pretty high off the Lao when I came to hybridization conclusion. It does have pretty purple colors similar to CBG's PCK it also liberates it's abundant trich's very easily, is quite strong potency wise and only takes around 12 weeks of flowering.

I did get two phenos the female mentioned above and a male that seemed much more true to type with lighter green color and larger narrower leaves. I sent both of these off to Sam for the Phylos project so hopefully we'll have a better insight into what's inside this line in the near future.

Hybridized or pure I'm still pretty happy with the result and will be looking forward to investigating this one further ;)

Peace

Buds are hard as rock, smell is really mango, and the plant requires very little food, I look forward to taste it. I made some seeds with ECDD, Mango Diesel could be cool.

Gday DirtLife, I zig zag too pinch early and often just about every day, skip a day through the stretch and they can get away from ya. You will lose some colas especialy on brittle types and new tips but practice makes perfect. Tape the broken branch up brother it works. I get canoeing and running to at the tops when they are too close to hot lights.
