^ thanks. doing some justice to these promising genetics finally. Vermontman has shown a lot of tolerance for my previous hack job indoors. this skull oaxacan has great vigor, great potency, some purple potential, smells and tastes great if properly grown from what I can garner so far.

i'm looking for commercial outdoor strains (hybrids) and the response to the indoor p skull/aww1 fem was very positive from a local commercial dealer.

outdoor performance is a whole different game and if the p skull/aww make it to harvest we can get an idea of her outdoor breeding possibilities. she'll be tested in a harsh hot/humid environment.

^^^^^Looking good bro! Good to read that the p skull/aww is showing serious potential. Glad you preserved that AlohaWW man. IMHO the right selections from that line are gold for outcrosses. I guess that is obvious though just from the simple fact that it's still around and peeps still seek it out after all these years. Even after so many other varieties have come and gone since the 90's. The test of time proves all great varieties worthy I suppose.:tiphat:

aww is very much misunderstood. back in da day they used northern lights, skunk and a few others for crosses with long flowering, ultra low yielding (indoors), fluffy sativa/nld strains. I am using stash's aww seedstock reproduced from jojo's aww. the male clone aww many breeders dropped from their breeding programs is nothing like what i'm getting from aww seedstock. the aww i'm using has a great nld/sativa high, great-very good potency, tastes sweet ( the phenos I use are reversed females that tasted good) with primarily indica/wld or indica/wld dom bud structure. fairly hardy outdoors from previous hybrids run outdoors here. no super frosty phenos have popped up yet but i'm not done pheno hunting aww yet. aww1 showed some purple to go with purple skulls beautiful purple phenos.

Platinum from in house genetics is also showing a very pleasant sativa high with awesome frost and some with awesome color potential. Platinum was posted by ihg as being a uw/permafrost hybrid but the uw indica traits are not showing up in the Platinum phenos i'm using for hybrids. permafrost might be as great as aww but nearly everyone dropped the ball on her except ihg.
Permafrost, bred by Rogue Buds, is a sativa-dominant hybrid named for its frosty coat of crystal trichomes and fresh pine aroma. While some believe Permafrost to be the love child of Trainwreck and White Widow, others claim it comes from Kali Mist and Trinity Snow.
here's a link to the permafrost reviews: https://www.leafly.com/hybrid/permafrost/reviews

here's my two keeper Platinum s1 phenos for commercial landrace sativa hybrids ( very pleasant sativa/nld high effects, good potency, good taste, low yield, low vigor ( I don't personally care about bag appeal for personal smoke but the present time market demands bag appeal and great taste. I want epic evenings smoko wise):

Luang Prabang progression...

Luang Prabang progression...

Starting to get more aroma off of her... Best way to describe it would be sharp, sourish grapefruit with hints of wood and metal, the last two alternating by the day, it seems. I'm a little worried about flowering her through some of, if not all the hottest months of the year, due to a recent couple of heat waves we've had, with a couple days in the upper 90's topping 100. It created several "eagle clawed" leaves, about 4-5 of them. I have not fluctuated nutes, there has been new growth with no signs of clawing, and the claws were first noted on the hottest day... So, concerned with that, but, what will be, will be. Now, some pics of her...

I actually have another plant of the same laotian growing as well, which, on her transplant awhile ago, I accidentally ripped her rootball in half. I ended up transplanting her into a modified 3-liter soda bottle I had after a picnic, and she has since basically become my "stress test" plant, and shows this in her growth. She is doing pretty good, however, and despite growing in far more stressful conditions, she's more developed due to only having one main cola. Ill up some pics of her later.

She looks great Dirtlife. You've done an excellent job so far. Now keep her healthy like that for another 4 months. Maybe 5 months. Should be no problem. :)

If that line is anything like the GN Thai, it'll handle the hot days better than you think. Just keep the rootballs hydrated, and you'll make it through ok.

@Dirtlife
My LLP easily handled low 40's outdoors. It much preferred the warmer temps anything below 28c and it didn't seem like it could be bothered getting its leaves up for the sun. She purples up very nicely at lower temps (around 8c) too.

Like DaveC said plenty of water though. Mine was a drinker. I kept my flower ec at 1.4 (0.8 tap, 0.6 canna terra nutes) but think I could have gone a little higher.

Looks like you'll have some nice Lao Spears in a couple months. My plant smells were first soapy incense then burnt rubber and finally floral (rose) and spicy/herby.

Nice to see people still growing the Lao :D

Thanks for the positive vibes, Dave! :)

That's the plan: keep em hydrated and keep the ambient enviroment as comfortable as possible. Its a trip to think these will be ready by fall/late fall. These girls are just getting started as my Hz/Sk is just starting to enter her final phase. Well, updates will be coming over time, both good and bad, Im sure. But, if she turns out to be even half as good as your TS-A, Ill be more than happy!

Heres the other Laotian I referred to in my previous post:

Thanks, Columbo! Glad to hear she handles warmer temps well, helps put my fears to rest. I dont get much soap smells from her yet, but Im sure she'll reveal more aromas as she gets older. I was thinking she smelled a bit hazy like, which is not a bad thing at all... :D

So what got harvested? The Zamal?

Surely you can't be growing those longer flowering ones down in Tassie?

I'm loving these Laos. One of my best pot experiences and highs was in Laung Prabang just a few years ago. Brilliant uplifting euphoric high. It was compressed and smelt and tasted very hashy. I feel a lot of the quality is due to correct timing of the harvest and whatever occurs post harvest. This stuff was compressed and seemed kind of fermented?

I bought some of gypsys; only one grew and not quite what I was after unfortunately. I have a cross of her which is ok.

Best of luck with the Laos. Beautiful plants everyone. Donald Mallard, those were amazing.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out Tangwena's thread on cob curing. It sounds like you got a taste. I'm definitely going to give it a shot with my next harvest.
