Dang! I was not paying attention well enough. I have been looking for something early ripening as a breeding tool for my project. I just pulled the trigger on Baglung Nepali a couple of days ago. Sounds like Purple Satellite would have been a very viable if not preferred alternative. Baglung Nepali is somewhat of a blind guess for what would be best for me. I find descriptions of highs lacking. The site I bought from doesn't even have clear ripening dates for outdoor growing at various latitudes. I'm only guessing that something from Nepal with it's high altitude mountains and acclimated in Switzerland would be very early.

I'm amazed at your reported ripening dates. How much of that is from the Nepali, and how much is from the Oaxacan? Can you compare and contrast the highs from Nepali vs. Oaxacan? What is the high like from the cross?

I know many people don't feel the differences in the highs of various weed like I do. I also am not sure what people mean with the language they use. This is my problem. I like to read/hear different ways to describe something so I get confident in my understanding. This is one reason why I'm long winded and prefer lots of detail in descriptions. One has to be a hell of a good poet to capture a feeling or complex thought in very few words. I digress (repeatedly).

Many people think all highs are basically similar. I think the highs of most hybrids are all too similar, but IMHO, good strains, hybrids or not, stand out for the uniqueness of the highs. Personally, I'm an aficionado of clear, clean, cerebral highs that remind me of tripping. I think some people describe this as a "cold" high. Strangely though, highs that some say are cold thrill me to the point of euphoria. Hahaha. Maybe just because they are so rare, I'm very happy to find them. I do shy away from highs that are too introspective. I like highs where I "lose myself" and look outward. If I understand correctly, people might call those "expansive" (mind expanding?) highs. To me, hash plant highs are not like tripping at all. Not mind expanding, not trippy, not introspective, not psychedelic, not clear... more mind numbing. I find some sativa highs are psychedelic and are a much more controllable way to gently trip than acid, psilocybin, or peyote.

Vermontman - Can you take some time to write up something descriptive of the highs of each, Oaxacan, Nepali, and Purple Satellite, with my perspective of highs in mind? Perhaps you can use it for Dubi's website. Also, what are the ripening dates of each? Where did such an early ripening date come from?

These early dates used to be much more common. Everything is hybridized these days, and it is hard to find really early indicas anymore, much less cerebral sativas. I do expect some compromise in the high to get the early ripening dates. I have come across only a very few with the high I most prefer that are especially early ripening in my lifetime. I do hope to find a strain with a very early ripening date that lacks couch-lock, and leans in the direction of the high I'm breeding for.

Thanks,

ThaiBliss
