And on hermies in landraces: why do you think there's more problems with hermies in locations that were growing cannabis for sensi? You never hear anyone bitching about huge numbers of hermies in afghan populations.

i have to admit,,,i agree with you,,,,
but thai peeps smoke weed/wecha/grass,,and thai plants self themselvs.....i wonder if thai has levels of tollerence to selfing,,,,an if the hermi geene was an acsident?

Afghan plants got hybridized during the russian invashion...maybe thats why they dont self themselvs

rick how many thia plants you grown ?.
Im so tierd of reading thia lines hermie i have grown quiet a few diffrent thia lines and other pure or if you like stable sativa land races and not once did i ever see a sativa once it was sexed as a female show male flowers and if i ever did see hermies show it was at sexing.
Now as for indicas how many here have grown indicas be it afgani lines And had female plants late into flower show a few nannas i know i have i think you guys need to stop reading and grow more and lorne from your plants instead of reading what others say alone grow and let the plants show you best way.

What do you think I meant by sensi? They tried to grow seedless weed...but the majority of them kept growing their own seeds (any found were coded for intersex traits because they killed all their males) thereby seleceting for hermies on accident. I've heard the best growers in the region paid other farmers who's only purpose was to grow seed for the majority sensi cultivators...but I was never there...

I have to agree with you Hempy. I used to grow many Thai plants back in the day, and never had a hermie issue with them. Most likely happens when something else is added to the line that had issues.
When and where did you collect your landrace seeds? I'm fairly certain that what you've grown have been cleaned up hybrids...

Back in 1977 I grew my first Thai plants in SoCal from seeds out of the kilo's of sticks we would buy every few months. I am talking chocolate supreme Thai. You would'nt find many seeds, but man those were some plants. I continued growing Thai through the early 80's.

All plants back in those days were outdoors. We had so many outdoor sites in the 70's, we could hardly remember them all (happens when smoking Thai). In case you dont know, California has a Mediterranean climate, and IMO it is the best climate for growing weed, especially near the coast. We would take motocross bikes back into the hills of the upper desert for grow sites, and in our coastal back yards.
We would try to always harvest as late as possible in November or longer, before the katabatic winds would rip them to shreds. These plants were subjected to everything nature would throw at them, including temps over 100f, and as long as we kept males away we had no seeds from well over 100 plants a year, from 77 though the mid 80's. They would get over 10 feet tall in some locations, but near the coast we would trim and train them in the back yard below fence line.
I will grow todays indica's over the growing Thai weed, only because they are easier to grow, and medicate me nicely, but if someone handed me chocolate Thai to smoke, it would be my weed of choice. Very stony, yet energenic head buz. We called it the cartoon effect back them. I have found nothing today that compares to the Thai we grew (I mainly grow indica now), I will buy Gypsy's Thai Stick Sativa and give that a try now that I can grow outdoors again.

From imported lots of thia i had one that was collected from with in thialand by a mate but all the lines were imported in just like in the us and other places.
The diffrence was here we can grow them out doors were we are.
Back then you did not need to keep clones if you had seeds of a given line you knew what the smoke from that seed would be before you grew it out thats what i call pure and stable.
You guys can make every excuse you like fact is the older growers that infact did grow lots of diffrent pure sativas know what im saying is fact.
