.... And now for something completely different!

I dug my tubs out of storage the other night. I found the emergency blanket and duct tape was pretty shabby. These only had about 1 year of operating time on them after 4 grows so the glue on the duct tape was turning to powder especially around the light section.

I picked up 2 cans of Krylon fusion paint for plastic, one black and one white.
One can of black should be enough to cover two tubs with two coats. I decided to do the drying box too. I have a little project to make a seedling/veg/drying box out of it.

Anyway, I ran out of paint on the second coat because of the third tub and had to get another can of black after work tonight. I went to the YMCA tonight and jumped around with the fat ladies in the beginner fitness class and painted my tubs later on tonight.

Here's my tubs after two good coats of black paint.

Now that I am growing in a closet, I used my old rubbermaid grow box as a drying box too.
Have my tru air filter in the back and a small fan blowing across the floor of it.

I have strung clothesline and have my big buds hanging. I had a screen that I have laying in there for the smaller buds.

I even put my curing pot that is in jars in it since it is dark, but has good air flow.

The paper bag has shake in it.

I really recommend getting a Tru-Air filter. They are about $15 at Walmart and come with a filter cartidge. The cheap buggers only put about 1/2 tsp of activated charcoal in the filter. I cut a slit and shake out the old stuff and put about 4 tbsp of activated charcoal from the pet store. A 1 lb box runs about $8 - $10 and you can refill the cartridge for pennies compared to the replacement cartridges that run around $8.

The Tru-Air will handle the aroma of over 2 oz of curing buds no problem in my drybox. The original cartriges last only a week or so. When they are refilled, they last much longer.

They are handy for emergency smell control too, even if you have a big scrubber.

Go for it!! Vanillagorilla - these things are easy to build. Just stay tuned and you can see me put Humpty back together again.

I got my painting done tonight. I put the final twi coats of white on top of the two coats of black that went on the other night.

Don't they look ever so spiffy!!!

Nice!

Nice!

Great idea!

After the absolute pain in the arse that is Mylar, I have decided that when I get the opportunity, I shall paint the tubs as you did, Red. Flat white has worked perfectly for my C13, so why shouldn't it for my tubs.

heh...

Do all your painting outdoors guys. I remember on OG there was a guy warning about painting with spray cans in his cellar .the fumes were ignited by the pilot light on his furnaces. He wasn’t hurt but it thump the room well. Be safe. VG

Well I'm sure happy to get the painting done. It took me 3 nights to do and 4 cans of paint at $5 each. I painted in my woodshed with the doors open and wore a respirator/gas mask that I borrowed from work. Absolutey, do not paint indoors, the amount of fumes is incredible. The fumes are both unhealthy and a fire hazard too!

I took a quick peek at your new growbox, Krusty, and it looks really good. I'm going to take a good look at it when I have more time.

Ok guys, I've got a little mod that I just made to my drying box. I'm sticking some lights in it to make it into a veg box. I came across some light fixtures in the bargain bin at Crappy Tire.

I drilled two holes for screws and one hole for the wiring in the Rubbermaid tub lid for each fixture. Here's a pic with the fixtures installed and the top view of the wiring pulled through.

I bought some extension cords at the dollar store. Take an extension cord and cut off the end. Cut off a chunk about 1 foot long. This is to join the two fixtures together. Here is a pic of the ends stripped on the 1' chunk and the cord with the plug end.

Twist the two white wires and one end of the 1' chunk together and twist on a wire nut. Twist the two black wires and the other end of the chunk together and put a wire nut on it. I like to fold the wires back on themselves and tape up with electrical tape. This makes the wires really secure and safe.

Twist all the white wires together with one of the wires from the jumper and one of the wires from the extension cord and twist on a wire nut. Do the same with the black wires and the other two wires. That's it for wiring!!!

Here's the Tru-Air filter and the hole in the lid that was cut out earlier. And here is the Tru-Air duct taped into place. Another extension cord is plugged into the Tru-Air and the lights are just plugged into it. This gives me the option of using the lights or filter independently.

Here is the lights installed and the veg box completed.
