Hey there Micro-growers, welcome to the Lodge! Pull up a chair and stay awhile. As they say, if the women don't find you handsome, they better find you handy.

I'd like to show you my little creation made with lot's of love and duct tape. My design is unique so if you've seen it before, that was probably me in another lifetime!

I'm not the first guy to make a growbox from stacked tubs. I've added enhancements to the basic design to have all features that the large cabinet growers are successfully implementing.

My growbox uses 6 x 42W CFL lights for 252W @ 100W/sqft. The growchamber and lightbox areas are separately ventilated similar to using a cooltube or vented hood. The lightchamber is cooled with a single computer fan. An activated carbon scrubber with a built in fan, removes air from the grow chamber to maintain total steath. I also manipulate the plant with screen of green, SCROG, to manage plant height and to maximize yield.

My growbox can be easily constructed using inexpensive household/hardware store items. Rubbermaids make really good growboxes. They can be easily cut with a utility knife and drilled and they are only worth $6 so if you make a mistake, get another one and start over. You can tuck it in a closet or down the basement. All the parts can be bought at Walmart or Home Depot. I also use fertilizers that can be bought at the grocery or hardware store too.

This was my inspiration :)

Without the restrictions of the growbox do you think it would be possible to get a larger yeild more easily?

Does anyone have any good suggestions for cutting the holes out of the tupperware? I don't really have powertools so I'm looking for other suggestions. The plastic cracks most of the time.

I use a utility Knife and scare around the edges of the templet on the tupperware. Do not try to go through the plastic at once. Keep scaring the tupperware untill you break through the other side. It will take about two maby three times around. I have powertools but don't use them for applications like this because I get a much accurate cut with the utility knife

That's a great idea. I was originally trying to get it to cut in one go, that makes a lot more sense. Thank you! :smoke:

If you have a butane lighter/torch you can take an old steak knife or a straight piece of metal, heat it up and it slides through like butter. It may take a lot of fluid depending on th size of the hole.

Hey red,

Nice work on the set up looks the goods, I am contemplating a plastic storage box grow or cabinet grow at the moment and I just wanted to ask about the 3 socket bathroom vanity you got. Are they fairly readily available and if so where at and in what section? One other question is what do you call the little adaptor peice that lets you have two bulbs per socket and where can you find them? Lastly, wiring, how do you go out that, do you need to get it seperately and then connect to each socket in the vanity or? And if so do you need a power plug for each socket or is it easy to combine into one? Thanks heaps and congrats on your method seems to be working well for you.

srry Red dosent hang around here no more shame to

but i'll answer your questions tad late i hardly never come to this section of the forums.

[ about the 3 socket bathroom vanity you got. Are they fairly readily available and if so where at and in what section? ] these are obtained at any local hardware store lowes homedepot such.

the little Y screw in mogul adaptor is also bought there hardware store the items arent very expensive the adaptor is like 1$ vanity light like 10-15$
i believe he used a heavy duty extension cord 10-12 gauge cut the female end off and pretty much color match the wires normally. leave the male end on :) when ya splice the wires be sure to use the proper size wire nuts and electrical tape them together. thats how i wired some bathroom fart fans into a cab worked great just noisy lol.

I wonder what the ideal temp shold be in a container grow like this one, ive started one of my own but after lookinga t yours i need more work done lol, I am using some bagseeds for practice and if they turn out well Im going to go official with some major seeds. Right now with my lights my box is running about 31.5c i think its because im missing an intake fan all i have right now is an exhaust fan adn a regular 7 inch fan blowing inside the box. I also wanted to know how did u powert your pc fans cus ive chosen to use an old power supply from a pc I dont use anymore to run the small fans wha would u recommend I do for that
