Lookin' good 3-11,

I'd be sticking a screen on top for better height control. Don't forget when you flip to 12/12, the plant will stretch up to double it's height.

12 seeds, 6 germed, 4 were picked out (that were growing straight up ha) and 4/4 females. The two weakest looking ones were harvested after about 8 weeks of 12/12, these two were left. ONe harvested at 9 weeks (on the right, less purple) and the very purple short squat tight noded plant was harvested at 10 weeks. Pictures are about 8 1/2 weeks of 12/12 lighting.

This was my first grow indoors, the plants went though hell and back, almost everything that went wrong did and i still came out with this! They were LST'd first until they were sexed and all 4 turned out female, i was going to do more LST or a SCROG, but i wanted to keep all four! I couldnt kill a female as im new and didnt really know which one was going to turn out good and which one wasnt. So i untied em and left them to grow naturally.

The first 3 plants yielded about 7 grams each, and the last one, the really dens purple one yielded about 12 grams and is curing until thanksgiving!

Enjoy

Sorry some of the pics might be rotated wrong...this is my first pic upload with a new camera!

PS... im trying to reveg the "very purple" nice pheno that i got because this was my first grow and i didnt have a veg setup and couldnt take clones from each plant. I was going to be happy to get any smokable bud from this and this is what i got!! woohoo!

PPS... thanks for all the helful info in this thread and thanks red for the inspiration!

Great first grow ReeferDan. Having your own smoke is the best! Your yeild is about right for a first grow. I got about 1-1/2 oz from my first grow with a single plant LST.

I hope your reveg turns out. If you take clones and just run two plants with screens, your yeild will be a lot higher around 2 oz per plant.

ReeferDan,

If my first grow turns out half as nice as yours I'll be totally satisfied! Enjoy those sticky buds!

I recently started a rubbermaid grow and I would like to get the temps under control. Where is everyone buying the acrylic to fit in the tub? What are you using to cut it? Acrylic is a bitch to work with and I have no idea where to source something like that.

Edit: Also, my grow is here:

The rubbermaid starts at the end of page 1.

Hi Red, just dropping in to say thanks for the carbon scrubber design. I needed something to build quickly and easily without too much carpentry. A few bucks and lots of duct tape later and this baby works like a charm. I have 2 of JLPs SDxOG about 40 days into veg and they were stinking up my apt with a beautiful gasoline/skunk odor. Not anymore!

You can get some at Lowe's or HDepot. I used the prismatic light panels you find in the electrical department. Lowes has two price levels, the more expensive one is very flexible and easy to cut with a utility knife. Just score it using a straight edge and bend it over a square edge table. I went this way because if was cheap and I thought the panels would spread the light out better. The weird part is the small leaves will be wildly crooked, almost mutant, if you let them grow against the panel. They straighten right out when you move the plants/branches a little lower.

Hey RG... just stopping in to say THANK YOU for a great explanation and great pics on the reveg, on the first few pages of this thread. I'm in my first grow now with 1 lonely lady, and I think I may try revegging her for another go-around.

This thread is full of all kinds of great info!

I had a question about the ventilation of a rubbermaid system...

The way you have it set up is the light exhaust fan just blowing straight out and not hooked up to the carbon scrubber? If this is correct? I'm just a little confused about how all the exhausts and intakes are set up.

Yep...this is correct. There are basically two chambers seperated by the piece of plexiglass. Sealed correctly and the only smelly air will be in the bottom chamber fed up thru the carbon filter. This also keeps the hot air seperated from your plants, which is nice too.

I wanted to also say thanks to red for making this thread because it is pretty damn awesome and I have read it a couple times.

what kind of temps do you guys get it the light chamber area?

any worries of the cfls getting too hot in an enclosed space?

I'm not sure about the light chamber, but it definitely doesn't get hot enough without a fan to do any damage. My exaust fan for the light area went out on me with 2 42w and 4 26w cfl's over a weekend that I was out of town and everything was fine when I got back. Red had also talked about doing burn in tests where he left his fans off for venting the light area and everything was fine. Temperatures in the grow area of the box are only a little bit over whatever your room temp is if your light chamber is sealed and vented properly (for me usually 3-5 degrees over room temp).
